I also think Indian government has done phenomenally...also thanks to our Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi... the kind of help that has been provided to Nepal it's commendable and I think we should keep on continuing sending this aid because they need it and on the ground when I come when I meet those families I know that it's not going to get resolved in couple of weeks or months it's something that we have to keep on sending, continuing our support and I think that's the only way we can get them back to their normal lives," as quoted by ANI.</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p><strong>Also Read:</strong><a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/nepal-pm-calls-for-action-against-climate-change-amid-disaster-in-the-himalayas-1788237842731"><strong> 'Not an ordinary event': Nepal PM calls for action against climate change amid disaster in the Himalayas</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p>

'Why didn't you save me?' 5-year-old Nepal flood victim, who survived under rubble for 60 hours, asked parents

<p>Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah has called on the international community to take urgent steps against climate change, calling last week's floods "not an ordinary" event. In a late-night post on Monday, he wrote, "The flood in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa was not an ordinary flood. It was one of the region's major disasters, triggered by an avalanche of snow and ice in the Himalayan region."</p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>The exact cause of the floods is still not clear, but climate change is believed to be the driving force. Experts have warned that the Himalayas are melting faster amid rising temperatures, increasing the risk of such disasters. "This incident indicates that the risks we face in the Himalayan region are increasing alongside climate change," Shah added.</p><p>Also Read: <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/nepal-and-tibet-floods-warning-sign-of-a-looming-disaster-two-days-before-tragedy-struck-1788234797394"><strong>Nepal and Tibet floods: Warning sign of a looming disaster recorded two days before tragedy struck</strong></a></p><p>&nbsp;</p><p>Climate change is accelerating amid increasing emissions by the developed and industrial countries. Nepal PM Balendra Shah has said that climate change was responsible for the floods that have killed over 900 people in the country. He has urged other countries to take immediate action to ensure such disasters do not happen again.

Nepal's Prime Minister Balendra Shah has called on the international community to take urgent steps against climate change, calling last week's floods "not an ordinary" event. In a late-night post on Monday, he wrote, "The flood in the Bhote Koshi River in Rasuwa was not an ordinary flood. It was one of the region's major disasters, triggered by an avalanche of snow and ice in the Himalayan region." The exact cause of the floods is still not clear, but climate change is believed to be the driving force. Experts have warned that the Himalayas are melting faster amid rising temperatures, increasing the risk of such disasters. "This incident indicates that the risks we face in the Himalayan region are increasing alongside climate change," Shah added. Nepal rescuers are digging through flood-buried hydropower tunnels to reach over 100 trapped workers as rain and rising rivers hamper efforts. The disaster death toll has climbed to 750.

Nepali rescuers resumed a desperate search on Sunday for hydropower workers believed to be trapped inside tunnels buried under flood debris, as difficult weather and swollen rivers continued to hamper operations. The disaster’s death toll has climbed to 750, while more than 3,000 people remain missing in Nepal and Tibet. Rescue teams have been working for five days since a massive wall of mud and debris swept through the region on Wednesday. Nepal’s government says more than 100 workers could still be alive inside tunnels at several hydropower projects, with operations concentrated on the Trishuli 3A and 3B sites. At Trishuli 3A, army personnel drilling through the debris broke into the upper section of a mud-filled tunnel late Saturday. Rescuers then began pumping air inside and deployed a camera to search for signs of survivors. Rain complicates tunnel search The operation was disrupted overnight when heavy rain sent river waters higher, flooding the excavation zone. Conditions improved later, allowing teams to restart the search. "As the floodwaters have receded, the team has resumed efforts to locate the tunnel entrance using drilling machines, excavators, hydraulic cutters, and other equipment," the Nepal Army said. Rescuers have been forced to work through thick mud and around huge boulders deposited by the floods. The prime minister’s office described the conditions as "difficult" but said teams were "making tireless efforts to search for and rescue those who may be trapped." Advanced search cameras and specialised monitoring equipment are being used, while tunnel-rescue specialists from India and China have joined the operation. Power infrastructure badly damaged The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Authority says 933 hydropower workers are missing. The US Geological Survey has attributed the disaster along the China-Nepal border to a glacial collapse. The Nepal Electricity Authority said 11 hydropower stations and a solar power plant have stopped operating, cutting 431.1 megawatts of capacity – around 10 per cent of Nepal’s installed generation capacity. Another 15 projects under construction have also suffered damage.

In hard-hit Nuwakot district, aircraft resumed operations after a weather delay, ferrying food and other emergency supplies into isolated areas and evacuating survivors. Nepal says more than 3,700 people have been rescued so far.
