Nepal`s newly elected president Ramchandra Paudel has been admitted to a hospital after he complained of acute stomach pain, as per local media outlets.&nbsp;

He was taken to Tribhuwan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu's Maharajgunj on April 1 and his principal adviser Suresh Chalise confirmed that the president was to remain in the hospital overnight. While confirming that president experienced acute stomach ache, Chalise said, “Doctors are examining him and he will remain in the hospital tonight.”

Kathmandu Post&nbsp;reported that the hospital issued a statement saying, "He was admitted to the hospital late on Saturday, and is under observation."&nbsp;

As per a statement by the hospital’s duty officer (control room), Paudel was admitted during the evening time on Saturday and is presently under a doctor's supervision. “He is currently under doctors’ observation.”&nbsp;

The President's Secretariat also confirmed that Paudel complained of abdominal pain upon which he was taken to the hospital for medical supervision.&nbsp;

Ram Chandra Paudel, a senior member of the Nepali Congress, was sworn in as the country's president just two weeks ago replacing Bidya Devi Bhandari, whose term ended on March 12. According to the Nepalese Election Commission, Paudel received 33,802 electoral votes, while Subash Chandra Nembwang received 15,518.

The election for president also included participation from 518 members of the provincial assembly and 313 members of the federal parliament, according to the Nepalese Election Commission. The vote took place at New Baneshwar, Kathmandu, in the Nepali Parliament building. The Nepal government on Monday decided to withdraw the ordinance brought by Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba which allowed division of the opposition parties, paving the way for cabinet expansion, which has been delayed for over two months ever since he assumed power.

The Deuba government on August 18 had proposed an ordinance that allowed a new political party to be registered at the Election Commission with only 20 per cent support of its leaders whether in the parliamentary party or in the party’s central committee.&nbsp;The ordinance had delayed the process of cabinet expansion as the ruling alliance partners felt it could ease splits in their parties.

Now, following the government’s decision, President Bidya Devi Bhandari scrapped the ordinance.&nbsp;

"President Bidya Devi Bhandari as per the decision of the Council of Ministers and recommendation of the Prime Minister has scrapped the Ordinance on Political Parties (Second Amendment)-2078 as per Clause 2(b) of Article 114 of the Constitution of Nepal,” the Office of the President said in a statement on Monday.&nbsp;

“The government has withdrawn the ordinance, but we are not sure what will be the outcome. Janata Samajwadi Party faction led by Upendra Yadav wanted the ordinance to be withdrawn whereas Madhav Kumar Nepal faction wanted the continuation of the ordinance. Both factions are trying to keep their party safe. They are building their own safety net,” a Nepali Congress leader told WION.&nbsp;

“We intend to form a coalition and hopefully this will help in cabinet formation. Upendra Yadav has not confirmed to join the government,” the leader added.&nbsp;

Earlier, the Political Parties Act had a provision that any group can register as a new party if it can show it has the support of 40 per cent members of the central committee and the parliamentary party.

If both, the central committee and the parliamentary parties could not get 40 per cent members, the office-bearers or MPs who separated from any party could lose their posts.

The passing of the ordinance not only benefited Madhav Kumar Nepal to separate from KP Sharma Oli led CPN-UML but also Mahanta Thakur faction of Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) to form a new party.&nbsp;

President Bhandari called for the commencement of House on the recommendation of Government of Nepal, in accordance with Article 93 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal, according to a notice issued by the President's Office on Monday.

As per the notice, the 275-member lower house will begin at 4:00 pm on the slated date.

The presidential order to summon the House meeting follows the Supreme Court's decision to overturn Prime Minister Oli's move to dissolve the House on December 20.

A five-member constitutional bench led by Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher last week annulled the Oli government's "unconstitutional" decision to dissolve the lower house of Parliament.

The court had ordered the government to summon the House session within the next 13 days.

Nepal plunged into a political crisis on December 20 after President Bhandari dissolved the House and announced fresh elections on April 30 and May 10 at the recommendation of Prime Minister Oli, amidst a tussle for power within the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP).

Oli's move to dissolve the House sparked protests from a large section of the NCP led by his rival Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', also a co-chair of the ruling party.

"Remove me if you can. If I am ousted, I'll emerge victorious with a two-thirds majority in the next election," 69-year-old Oli said.

Prachanda has been making efforts to garner support from the opposition Nepali Congress and Janata Samajbadi parties in an apparent bid to oust Oli from power.

Oli's Press Advisor Surya Thapa last week said the prime minister will not resign immediately and implement the Supreme Court's verdict against him by facing Parliament. 
Oli is under pressure to step down following the court verdict.

China on December 9 launched a new cargo service linking Tibet and Nepal as dozens of trucks carrying goods worth USD 2.8 million left the Tibetan border port of Gyirong en route to Kathmandu.

The new rail and road cargo service linking Guangdong, Tibet and Nepal aims to boost trade with the South Asian neighbour as China pushes forward its Belt and Road (Silk Road) initiative.

It was the first such consignment being sent to Nepal after the new Prachanda government took over from his pro-China predecessor KP Sharma Oli, who had signed the transit trade deal with Beijing in March this year in a bid to reduce Nepal&#39;s dependence on India despite it being expensive due to the mountainous terrain.&nbsp;
