The PM was backed by 188 members of the 275-member parliament whereas 74 lawmakers voted against him. The PM was required to get support from at least 138 lawmakers.

“I declare that the motion of the vote of confidence tabled by Prime Minister Oli has been endorsed with a majority,” said Speaker Devraj Ghimire.

Oli took on the PM's role on July 15 on the basis&nbsp;of the signatures collected from 166 lawmakers.&nbsp;

During the voting process, Oli declared his government would not tolerate corruption in any form.&nbsp;“I was not and will not get involved in corruption neither will tolerate if anyone practices so,” he said.

He added that the two largest parties in the Nepali Parliament, the Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist–Leninist) and the Nepali Congress, came together to secure political stability in the country.

“Nepali Congress and CPN-UML came together to maintain political stability, checking corruption and bring good governance,” he said.

“This coalition government will create a reliable eco-system for stability, development and good governance,” the PM asserted.

The CPN-UML, led by Oli himself, has 78 seats, while the Nepali Congress, the main ally of the alliance, has 88 seats, the Janata Samajbadi Party has seven, and the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party has four seats in the parliament. All these parties are also on board the government, which Oli formed last Monday.

In addition, Oli is expected to secure votes from the Janata Samajbadi Party, which has 5 seats, the Janamat Party with 6 seats and the Nagarik Unmukti Party with 4 seats. The combined strength of all these parties is 192, eight seats more than the required two-thirds majority in the 275-seat hung parliament.

Moreove, RPP has 14 seats in the House.

Nepal: PM Prachanda loses floor test

At least five dozen people are suspected to be missing after a landslide along the Madan-Ashrit Highway in Central Nepal swept two passenger buses in early Friday (Jul 12) morning. 
 
As per the officials on the site of the incident, the bus is assumed to have been swept down to the Trishuli River which has swollen hampering the search and rescue operation.

"As per the preliminary information both the buses were carrying a total of 63 people, including the bus drivers. The landslide swept the buses at around 3:30 AM. We are at the incident site and a search operation is underway. Incessant rain is hampering our efforts to search for the missing buses," Indradev Yadav, Chief District Officer, Chitwan confirmed to news agency&nbsp;ANI over the phone.

As per the official, the landslide swept the Kathmandu-bound Angel bus and Ganpati Deluxe, which was heading from Kathmandu to Rautahat's Gaur. As per the preliminary reports of the officials, there were 24 people onboard the bus that was heading to Kathmandu and 41 people were travelling in another bus.

Taking to X, Nepal PM Pushpa Kamal Dahal stated:&nbsp;"I am deeply saddened by the reports of about five dozen passengers that are missing when bus was washed away by a landslide on the Narayangadh- Muglin road section and the loss of properties due to floods and landslides in different parts of the country."

"I direct all agencies of the government, including the home administration, to search and effectively rescue the passengers."

All the flights from Kathmandu to Chitwan's Bharatpur have been cancelled for the day as the weather remains grim.
