China continues to bully its neighbours to try to coerce them into behaviour that is more in keeping with its national security or economic interests, the Pentagon said on Monday.

"China continues to bully its neighbours to try to coerce them into behaviour that is more in keeping with China's national security or economic interests. And we don't believe that that is conducive to a free and open Indo-Pacific," Kirby said.

The Biden administration, he said, has put a real premium on bolstering and reinforcing its alliances and partnerships in that area and making sure they have proper defensive capabilities in place to deal with the security challenges that exist out there.

"So, we're going to continue to work as hard as we can," he said.

Responding to a question, Kirby said the United States is certainly mindful of the tensions along the India-China border.

"Obviously, nobody wants to see the situation become more tense or certainly more violent than it has in the past but I think I'd let Indian authorities speak to the conversations and in how they're dealing with the tensions," he said

A class 12 student committed suicide in the Bakhtawarpur area in Rohini on being allegedly stalked and harassed by a neighbour, police said on Saturday.

The incident was reported to the police on Friday.

The girl left a suicide note in which she named some boys who used to misbehave with her and claimed that she was taking the extreme step owing to the harassment, the girl&#39;s family said.

Police said they have registered a case and efforts are being made to arrest the 20-year-old man, who was allegedly stalking her.

&ldquo;The accused has been identified as 20-year-old Mayank. Efforts are on to arrest him,&rdquo; DCP Rohini was quoted as saying.&nbsp;

Delhi: Girl commits suicide after being allegedly harassed by neighbour

In a shocking incident, a father has been arrested for reportedly killing his daughter after he caught her speaking to a boy in the neighbourhood.&nbsp;

The incident happened in northeast Delhi&#39;s Karawal Nagar on Friday when the 13-year-old&#39;s body was found more than 10 km from their house in a ditch near Ghaziabad&rsquo;s Tronica City.&nbsp;

As per reports, the girl had stepped out of her house in Shiv Vihar to go to the market when her father, Sudesh Chauhan, saw her talking to a boy who lives in the same locality.&nbsp;

Reports say that the daughter had been friends with the 19-year-old boy who worked at a mobile repair shop and had been meeting him for the past six months even after her parents&#39; objection to it.

Late Wednesday evening, the accused lodged a missing person&rsquo;s complaint at Karawal Nagar police station, claiming that his daughter never reached home from the market.

Reports say that the police went through the CCTV footage and discovered that the girl was being followed by someone on a motorcycle and then travelling with a person on the motorcycle.&nbsp;

On Saturday, Chauhan was arrested and his motorcycle and helmet were recovered. It was found that the girl&#39;s father had the same motorcycle and helmet and had been behaving oddly.&nbsp;

After the last rites, Kumar was questioned at length and he confessed to the crime. He told police that he had caught his daughter with the boy several times. On March 7, he said he followed her and found her with the same boy again.&nbsp;

He allegedly took her to Loni and slit her throat using a kitchen knife&nbsp;which he had carried with him. He dumped the body and the knife in a ditch and went back home.&nbsp;

As per reports, the police are investigating whether other family members were involved. They have detained the girl&#39;s cousins who had accompanied Kumar to the spot where they had spotted her body.
