Australia on Thursday announced that a national ban will be imposed on Nazi symbols as part of their attempt to crack down on far-right groups. 
 
Due to the ban on Nazi symbols, people held guilty of publicly displaying SS symbols or the swastika will be punished with up to a year in prison. 
 
The new laws, however, will not cover the Nazi salute. In many states, Nazi symbols have already been banned but the new rule means they won't be permitted anywhere, said the government. 
 
The step was taken in the wake of a resurgence in far-right activity. 
 
In March, a bunch of neo-Nazis participated in a rally in Melbourne which was hosted by Kellie-Jay Keen-Minshull, who is well-known for strongly opposing transgender rights and performed Nazi salutes on the Victorian Parliament's steps. 
 
Keen-Minshull denied having any connection to the group. The event led to a political backlash with increasing calls for more efforts to tackle displays of Nazi regalia.

"There is no place in Australia for symbols that glorify the horrors of the Holocaust," said Attorney General Mark Dreyfus, announcing the new legislation. 
 
"We will no longer allow people to profit from the display and sale of items which celebrate the Nazis," he further stated. “The ban includes the trade and public display of flags, armbands, T-shirts, insignia and the publication of symbols online promoting Nazi ideology,” said Dreyfus.

Even after the ban, public display&nbsp;of the Nazi's SS symbols and swastika for educational, literary, academic, artistic, journalistic or scientific purposes will be permitted. 
 
Similar bans were already announced by Victoria and Queensland earlier this year. The ban was drafted carefully to ensure that the display of the swastika for religious purposes is excluded, because of its spiritual significance. 
 
Australia's Anti-Defamation Commission Chairman Dvir Abramovich described the move as a "profound moment that represents the culmination of a six-year personal campaign". 
 
The recent appearance of neo-Nazis on the streets of Australia took Holocaust survivors "back to their darkest days", Abramovich said, while speaking to the BBC.

Australia set to impose national ban on Nazi symbols

Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Saturday laid the foundation for the construction of Iconic Bridge with a 170-meter long pylon over river Krishna.

The 3.2 km long bridge will connect Amaravati with Vijayawada-Hyderabad national highway.

The bridge will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 1387 crore.

There will be six lanes on the bridge and 2.5 meters wide pavements on both sides for pedestrians. With this bridge, Amaravati will be directly connected to Hyderabad and Jagadalpur.

The distance from Amaravati to those two cities will be reduced by 40 km. Further, this bridge will minimise traffic problems in Vijayawada.

Along with the bridge, a water treatment plant will be constructed on the Krishna river with an estimated expenditure cost of Rs 745.65 crores, the foundation of which was also laid today by Naidu.

This system will provide round the clock drinking water facility in the Amaravati as per the international standards. As part of the project, two intake wells, 190 MLD capacity water treatment plant, partially underground purified water reservoir will also be built.

For distribution of the water, a much elaborate system has been planned to be built. From this treatment plant, purified water will be supplied to domestic, industrial, commercial and institutional needs.

Soon after West's account was suspended, many users asked Twitter's new boss Elon to&nbsp;"fix Kanye". Replying to which, Musk said, ''I tried my best. Despite that, he again violated our rule against incitement to violence. Account will be suspended.''

On Friday,&nbsp;West&nbsp;also shared a picture of a shirtless Musk getting sprayed with water, captioned: "Let's always remember this as my final tweet."&nbsp;

In response,&nbsp;Musk said: "Just clarifying that his account is being suspended for incitement to violence, not an unflattering pic of me."

"I see good things about Hitler also," he told Jones.

"This guy... invented highways, invented the very microphone that I used as a musician, you can't say out loud that this person ever did anything good, and I'm done with that."

Defending his anti-semitic&nbsp;comments, he said, "I'm done with the classification, every human being has something of value that they brought to the table, especially Hitler, ''before adding, "I like Hitler."

Kanye made his Twitter comeback in November&nbsp;after Musk's dramatic takeover of the microblogging site.&nbsp;Due to the rapper's erratic behaviour and controversial anti-Semitic comments, the rapper was locked out from Twitter in October. West was also banned from Instagram for similar reasons.&nbsp;

Not only this, he has also&nbsp;lost the billionaire tag after Adidas ended its multi-million Yeezy deal.

The diplomatic spat between Turkey and the Netherlands spread online on Wednesday when a large number of Twitter accounts, many with no apparent connection to the dispute, were hijacked and replaced with anti-Nazi messages in Turkish.

The attacks, which appeared to be simply a form of political vandalism and used the hashtags #Nazialmanya or #Nazihollanda, took over accounts of high-profile CEOs, publishers, government agencies, politicians and also some regular Twitter users.

The account hijackings took place as the Dutch began voting on Wednesday in national elections seen as a test of anti-establishment and anti-immigrant sentiment held in the midst of a diplomatic spat with Turkey.

President Tayyip Erdogan has suspended high-level diplomatic ties with the Netherlands and branded the country&#39;s citizens &quot;Nazi remnants&quot; for preventing his ministers at the weekend from addressing rallies of Turks living there.

Hijacked accounts featured tweets with Nazi symbols, a variety of hashtags and the phrase &quot;See you on April 16&quot;, an apparent reference to the date of Turkey&#39;s planned referendum to grant Erdogan more powers.

The Twitter accounts hijacked included those of the European Parliament and the personal profile of French politician Alain Juppe. They also included the UK Department of Health and BBC North America, both of which subsequently appear to have recovered, along with the profile of Marcelo Claure, the chief executive of US telecoms operator Sprint Corp, which remains hijacked.

Other accounts included publishing sites for Die Welt and Forbes and several non-profit agencies including Amnesty International and UNICEF USA as well as Duke University.

The Twitter profile of BBC North America noted: &quot;Hi everyone - we temporarily lost control of this account, but normal service has resumed&quot;.

A Twitter spokesman said the company was aware the service was hacked and that it had begun to investigate: &quot;We quickly located the source which was limited to a third party app. We removed its permissions immediately,&quot; the statement said. It added that no additional accounts are affected.

At least some of the hijacked tweets appear to have been hooked up to Twitter Counter, a Netherlands-based Twitter audience statistics company. In a tweet on the company&#39;s own twitter profile, it acknowledged the service had been hacked.

&quot;We&#39;re aware that our service was hacked and have started an investigation into the matter. We&#39;ve already taken measures to contain such abuse,&quot; it said, including the ability to post tweets through the Twitter Connect app.

Twitter Counter also was the target of a hack attack in mid-November that led some of the high-profile Twitter accounts linked to the company&#39;s app to spew out spam tweets, including those of soccer star Lionel Messi and gaming sites Sony Playstation and Microsoft Xbox. At the time, it said it counted 2 million users.

The latest attacks appeared unrelated to low-level denial of service attacks against the websites of a Dutch web hosting company and the Rotterdam airport by a Turkish hacking group called Aslan Neferler Tim (Lion Soldiers Team). 
The same hacking group appears to have been responsible for temporary outages in August and September last year of the sites of Austrian institutions including the Vienna airport, the national parliament and Central Bank last year.

Those attacks occurred in the midst of a diplomatic row that followed Austria&#39;s calls for European Union accession talks with Turkey to be dropped.
