A woman has been facing all kinds of obstacles in life because she has been named Marijuana Pepsi from birth, however, she has decided never to change her name.&nbsp;

Ironically, the 52-year-old woman does not drink fizzy drinks, or alcohol or smoke weed, as reported by The New York Post.&nbsp;

Marijuana Pepsi Vandyck was named by her mother who had claimed that this name would "take her around the world" because of its originality.

Marijuana said that as she grew up she faced questions about the moniker and some even assumed that her mother took drugs or had been imprisoned, which was not true.&nbsp;

Marijuana completed her PhD in Higher Educational Leadership and works at Community College of Baltimore County. She is also the founder of Action as Empowerment Center for Change.

The woman has often been asked why she did not consider changing her name or has been asked to change it.&nbsp;

<h2>Marijuana's job challenge</h2>

Marijuana said that a lot of job applications submitted by her have been declined because of her name and some have even said that she shouldn't be permitted to work in education.&nbsp;

She has never smoked weed but gets approached by marijuana companies “all the time” who ask to work with her.&nbsp;

Marijuana, who stays close to Live Oak, Florida, said, “Classmates and even teachers would whisper and come up to me asking if it was my real name."

“I would overhear people speculating if my mother was a ‘crackhead’ – I still have people say that to this day. When people find out my name, they ask for my nickname instead. I tell them if calling me Marijuana isn’t comfortable, they can call me Dr Vandyck," she said.

“I always knew I would get a PhD as I’ve dedicated my life to education – and I thought if people would be calling me Marijuana Pepsi, I’ll be Dr Marijuana Pepsi," Marijuana further stated.

The woman said she is not ashamed of her name, although it makes others uncomfortable.

"I won’t answer to a different name to appease someone who is clearly in their head about what they think it means to call me my own name. It’s a problem, but it’s not my problem," Marijuana said.&nbsp;

“People don’t believe me when I say I’ve never smoked weed – because ‘there’s no way someone called Marijuana isn’t a smoker’. I do get hit up by marijuana companies, but I wouldn’t do anything with them unless it was centred around education. I just get high on life," she said.&nbsp;

The glasses have been created by two&nbsp;engineers - AnhPhu Nguyen and Caine Ardayfio - at Harvard University in Cambridge,&nbsp;Massachusetts.&nbsp;

"The purpose of building this tool is not for misuse, and we are not releasing it," said the engineers in a document which explained the technology.

"Our goal is to demonstrate the current capabilities of smart glasses, face search engines, large language models and public databases. [We're] raising awareness that extracting someone's home address and other personal details from just their face on the street is possible today," they added.

After failing to convince the mother Mainaz Begum against it, the family in Parsapur Mahraur village has filed an affidavit seeking the registration of the name.

Mainaz Begum came up with the idea while names for the boy were being discussed on May 23, the day the Lok Sabha results came in and Narendra Modi won a massive mandate.

People around her tried to make her change her mind, but she was adamant, her father-in-law Idrees told PTI.

When her husband Mushtaq Ahmed, who works in Dubai, was informed, he too tried to make her drop the idea. But he ended up agreeing to his wife's wish.

The family then filed an affidavit addressed to the district magistrate and submitted it to Assistant Development Officer (panchayat) Ghanshyam Pandey.

When contacted, Pandey said he received the affidavit on Friday.

He said the application has been forwarded to the village panchayat secretary, who deals with the registration of births and deaths.

"Action will be taken as per the law," he said.

In the affidavit, Mainaz Begum lavished praise on Modi and his government's welfare schemes, including free cooking gas connection to the poor and financial help to construct toilets.

"He is doing very good work for the country,"&nbsp;it said.

The affidavit also praised Modi for the initiative to end triple talaq.

UP: Muslim woman names newborn 'Narendra Modi'

A mountaineering expedition to two virgin peaks in Gangotri glacier, which are to be named after former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, successfully concluded with two teams scaling the peaks.

The team of mountaineers hoisted the tricolour on four peaks, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering principal Colonel Amit Bisht said.

The team will return to Uttarkashi on Sunday when details of the records set during the expedition will be shared with the media, he said.

The joint expedition named "Mission Atal" undertaken by teams from Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council and Nehru Institute of Mountaineering was flagged off by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from Dehradun on October 4.

The two peaks, to be named Atal-1 and Atal-2, are at heights of 6,557 and 6,566 metres.

The team of mountaineers hoisted the tricolour on four peaks, Nehru Institute of Mountaineering principal Colonel Amit Bisht said. The team will return to Uttarkashi on Sunday when details of the records set during the expedition will be shared with the media, he said. The joint expedition named "Mission Atal" undertaken by teams from Uttarakhand Tourism Development Council and Nehru Institute of Mountaineering was flagged off by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat from Dehradun on October 4. The two peaks, to be named Atal-1 and Atal-2, are at heights of 6,557 and 6,566 metres. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, 93, died at All India Institute of Medical Sciences hospital in Delhi on August 16 after a prolonged illness.

Justice Chelameswar, the seniormost judge of the Supreme Court, had written to CJI Misra yesterday urging him to convene the meeting and to also send the collegium's nomination of Justice KM Joseph's back to the Centre.&nbsp

PTI reported that in his letter, Justice Chelameswar told the CJI that he was reiterating his decision favouring the elevation of Justice Joseph as a judge of the top court as there was no change in the circumstances that had led the collegium to recommend his name to the government on January 10.

PTI added that Justice Chelameswar, who retires on June 22, had in his letter responded to all the points raised by Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad when he sent back Justice Joseph's name to the collegium for reconsideration.&nbsp

The government's decision of not approving Joseph's name has evoked sharp reactions with the Supreme Court Bar Association President terming it as "disturbing". 
Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad wrote to Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra this morning requesting the collegium, a group of five senior-most judges that selects judges for the apex court, to reconsider its decision on recommending Justice Joseph to be a judge of the top court.

Ahmed, whose son Ishaq was also sentenced to eight years in prison in Norway last year for joining IS, will appeal the conviction, while Magomadov had not yet decided, their lawyers told public broadcaster NRK. Their sentences were in line with those requested by the prosecution.

Czechia has become the official English alternative name for the Czech Republic, the Foreign Ministry said on Friday, allowing users to save space on name tags and product labels. 
 
A spokeswoman said the ministry had notified the United Nations that Czechia, as well as versions of the name in French, German, Russian, Arabic and Chinese, may be used instead of the full political name. 
 
This marks an end to more than two decades of hesitation on finding a single word name for the western part of the former Czechoslovakia, a federation of Czechia and Slovakia that broke up peacefully in 1993. 
 
But not all Czechs are happy. 
 
When the cabinet announced a decision to go ahead with the title earlier this year, an informal survey by news website idnes.cz found more than 22,000 people said they did not like it against 7,000 who did. 
 
The ministry said it would not push the new name but would let it take root naturally over time through voluntary use.
