The UK prime minister exuded confidence in his willingness to work towards the collective security of Europe, despite no longer being a part of the European Union.&nbsp;

Speaking at the Munich summit, UK PM apprised the gathering that his country was the first to provide tanks to Ukraine and the first to train Ukrainian pilots and marines. However, he stated that there is a need for a "military strategy and a political strategy."

"Ukraine needs and deserves the assurance,"&nbsp;Sunak said adding that the UK will be the first nation to aid Ukraine by supplying longer-range weapons. "UK&nbsp;is ready to help any country to provide Ukraine planes they need today but we must also train Ukrainian pilots to use advanced jets."

He held Russia accountable for war crimes in Bucha, Irpin and Mariupol.&nbsp;

“Now is the moment to double down on our military support for Ukraine," he asserted. This comes as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy on a trip to London last week requested UK to provide Ukraine with more defence weapons, especially fighter jets.&nbsp;

50 years ago this week, at the Munich Olympics, Andre&nbsp;Spitzer, a coach of the Israeli fencing team, was shot and killed by Palestinian terrorists. At the time, Ankie Spitzer, his wife was 26 years old. Ever since, the memories of that day have dominated her life.

The shooting of the Israeli team by members of the Palestinian militant group Black September had shocked the entire world and was largely broadcast live to millions of spectators.

In the end, five of the Palestinian gunmen, one German police officer, and 11 members of the Israeli team were all killed. Authorities from Germany and the Olympics received harsh criticism for how they handled the attack.

"I was only married one year and three months to Andre, we were a young couple, very much in love with a small baby, you know, we were on top of the world," Spitzer told Reuters ahead of a ceremony in <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/euro-slips-below-99-cents-for-the-first-time-in-over-two-decades-513155">Germany</a> this week commemorating the&nbsp;massacre.

"I was with him at the&nbsp;Olympics, and I was in the room after they were murdered, just a few hours afterwards, and I looked around, everything was with blood," she said.

"I said to myself...if they can do this I will never shut up, I will never stop talking about it, only for one reason, so that this will never ever happen again."

It was the beginning of a bloody 24-hour standoff that started with a struggle between the gunmen and unarmed athletes who attempted to defend themselves when the militants infiltrated the thinly guarded Olympic Village in the early hours of September 5, 1972, and forced their way into the Israeli apartments.

The assailants wanted a plane to the Middle East as well as the release of more than 200 Palestinian prisoners held in Israeli jails, including radicals Ulrike Meinhof and Andreas Baader of the German Red Army Faction.

German authorities later agreed to take the attackers and several hostages to the airport but the rescue effort was abandoned after police noticed it was being shown on live television.

A second attempt at rescue similarly failed, and a battle that broke out at Furstenfeldbruck Air Base was finally put to an end when the remaining shooters were apprehended.

Spitzer initially declined to attend Monday's ceremony in Munich with other family members and survivors, infuriated by what they saw as pathetic compensation offers from Germany, until a 28 million euro ($28 million) settlement was negotiated last week.

"For me the&nbsp;1972&nbsp;trauma will remain," said Ilana Romano, whose husband Joseph, a weightlifter, was another of the athletes killed in the attack.

"I hope that the world better understands and is ready to do more, and the most important thing is not to support terror and understand that terrorism destroys every good thing."

The offer allows the customers to pay for one litre of beer with a similar quantity of sunflower oil.

"The whole thing came up because we simply ran out of oil in the kitchen and that's why we have to be inventive," the pub manager, Erik Hoffmann, told Reuters TV.

With the Ukraine-Russia crisis not showing signs of ending, the entire world is suffering from a severe fuel crisis. The supply chain has suffered considerably and with both countries contributing almost 80 per cent of all sunflower oil exports, the situation has gotten worse with time.

At least four people were injured, one of them severely, after a World War II bomb exploded on a railway construction site in Munich, Germany. Local media reports state that the blast was heard several kilometres away and it scattered debris for hundreds of metres.&nbsp;

The incident took place when the construction workers were doing some drilling work near Donnersberger Bridge, close to the main station.&nbsp;

In the aftermath, rail operator Deutsche Bahn had to suspend its services on the affected lines. Bavarian Interior Minister Joachim Hermann revealed that the bomb weighed 250kgs.&nbsp;

"It has to be investigated why no-one spotted this bomb earlier," Mr Herrmann said while speaking to local media. 
More than 70 years have passed since WWII ended, still, more than 2,000 tonnes of live bombs and munitions are discovered each year in the country.&nbsp;

The war had battered the country with 1.5 million tonnes of bombs that killed nearly 600,000 people. As per officials, 15 per cent of the bombs failed to explode. Many of these are buried in the ground.&nbsp;

This is not the first time that such an incident has taken place. WWII bombs are regularly discovered during construction work in Germany. However, they are usually defused by experts.&nbsp;

Earlier, in October 2020, the biggest WWII bomb ever found in Poland exploded underwater while being defused by Polish sappers.&nbsp;

The bomb was found in the Piast Canal which connects the Baltic Sea with the Oder River, and was dropped by the RAF in 1945 in an attack on the German cruiser Lutzow.

The site is near the town of Swinoujscie in northwest Poland where a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal was opened in 2016.

Dubbed the "earthquake" bomb, the Tallboy bomb was used by Britain's Royal Air Force (RAF) and weighs nearly 5,400 kg, including 2,400 kg of explosive, the Navy said.&nbsp;

The incident took place when the construction workers were doing some drilling work near Donnersberger Bridge, close to the main station. In the aftermath, rail operator Deutsche Bahn had to suspend its services on the affected lines. More than 70 years have passed since WWII ended, still, more than 2,000 tonnes of live bombs and munitions are discovered each year in the country. As per officials, 15 per cent of the bombs failed to explode. Many of these are buried in the ground. This is not the first time that such an incident has taken place. WWII bombs are regularly discovered during construction work in Germany. However, they are usually defused by experts. Earlier, in October 2020, the biggest WWII bomb ever found in Poland exploded underwater while being defused by Polish sappers. The bomb was found in the Piast Canal which connects the Baltic Sea with the Oder River, and was dropped by the RAF in 1945 in an attack on the German cruiser Lutzow. The site is near the town of Swinoujscie in northwest Poland where a liquefied natural gas (LNG) terminal was opened in 2016. Dubbed the "earthquake" bomb, the Tallboy bomb was used by Britain's Royal Air Force (RAF) and weighs nearly 5,400 kg, including 2,400 kg of explosive, the Navy said. (With inputs from agencies)
