Police officials said&nbsp;Class 3 students Alok Bhagchand Bisen and Prince Kishore Rahangdale lost their lives in Dasgaon (Khurd) village when they were walking home from school with another friend on Tuesday. &nbsp;

One of the boys, Bisen fell into a water-filled pit on the roadside after getting close to it. Seeing this, Rahangdale rushed to save him, but he also lost his balance and fell into the same pit. &nbsp;

Police officials said that for a few hours, nobody knew about the incident.

"The third boy who was with them was quite shocked to witness all this right in front of him. So, it took him a while to inform others, as he was too shocked to talk about the incident at his home or with his friends. But after some time, when his parents observed his disturbed behaviour, he told them about the incident, and they informed the victims' parents,"&nbsp;added a police official from Rawanvadi police station. &nbsp;

The boys’ bodies were discovered when their families and locals began searching for them in the evening. &nbsp;

The bodies were handed over to the respective families after post-mortem. &nbsp;

In the recent&nbsp;past, there have been similar instances where children have lost their lives by falling into pits. Two children, aged 9 and 15 years, drowned in a pond filled with rainwater in outer Delhi’s Prem Nagar area after heavy rains.&nbsp;

In Visakhapatnam, two children drowned in a tank near DV Palem under Pamur police station limits in Prakasam district last week. The cops said that a group of eight boys had gone to the tank for a joy trip. While they were playing with water, two children suddenly drowned. &nbsp;

In another incident, three schoolchildren, including two sisters, all aged below 11, allegedly drowned in a river while attempting to pluck jamun fruits from a tree in the state of Tamil Nadu. Despite continuous heavy rains the last few days, The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has stated that educational institutions in Mumbai will remain open on Friday, July 26. The decision comes after weather conditions in the financial capital alleviated, allowing the city to return to normal routine.

On July 25, heavy rains disrupted traffic and train services, causing inconvenience to travellers. The flight operations were also halted as incessant rains and strong winds reduced the visibility.

The BMC announced that the weather conditions in Mumbai are normal at the moment, "The weather and rainfall in Mumbai are normal at present, allowing life in the metropolitan city to proceed smoothly. As a result, all schools and colleges in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) area will remain open on a regular basis tomorrow, Friday, 26th July 2024."

An orange alert is issued for Mumbai on July 26, and for Saturday. Regarding the weather conditions in the region, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a press release stating, "Isolated extremely heavy rainfall very likely over ghat areas of Madhya Maharashtra during July 25-27 and in Konkan &amp; Goa on 25 and 26 July and Gujarat region on 25th July."

In the last 24 hours till 8:30 am on Thursday, Mumbai recorded 44 mm of rain in the city, while 89 mm was observed in the Western suburbs and 90 mm in the Eastern suburbs.

Raigad is still under red alert due to severe weather conditions. The authorities have ordered&nbsp;schools and colleges to remain closed in the region. An orange alert has been issued for Raigad for July 27.

According to a Times of India report, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde reviewed the situation in the region on Thursday. He spoke to Raigad collector to make sure support is provided to people affected by floods.

Monsoon Updates: Mumbai schools, colleges to reopen; Raigad under red alert

After reeling under heavy rainfall for a week now, India's finance capital, Mumbai, will now get some relief, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD) in its latest forecast.

The weather agency said that the city is expected to receive significantly light rainfall showers and "heavy to very heavy showers" at some isolated places on Thursday.&nbsp;

In a tweet, the Met Department said, "Moderate rainfall continues to occur over Mumbai. It is likely to continue for the next 3 hours (till 11:00 am on Thursday). Extremely Heavy rainfall has occurred at isolated stations and was very heavy at some stations during the last 21 hours."

The weather agency added that the heavy rainfall intensity is likely to continue till Thursday and is likely to decrease&nbsp;from Friday.&nbsp;

Thursday: Yellow alert, very likely to see heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places.&nbsp;

Friday: Yellow alert, heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated locations.

On Saturday and Sunday: Green alert.&nbsp;

<h2>Mumbai heavy rain&nbsp;triggers tree falls,&nbsp;short circuits</h2>

The Brihanmumbai Municipal&nbsp;Corporation (BMC) in its evening bulletin said that in the last 24 hours, Mumbai&nbsp;has witnessed some 26 incidents of tree falls, six incidents of house collapse and 15 incidents of electricity short-circuits.&nbsp;

As per the department, residents complained about landslides as well.&nbsp;

Two people lost their lives this week. Two men, Premlal Nirmal, 30, and Kaushal Doshi, 38, died due to injuries caused by tree&nbsp;falls.&nbsp;

Additionally, a 36 years old woman in Thane,&nbsp;and a teenager named Rehan Shaikh were reported injured due to a building collapse.&nbsp;

Mumbai received an average rainfall of 93mm, while the eastern and western suburbs experienced 127mm and 123mm of rainfall respectively.&nbsp;

The department also said that Dahisar received 154.5mm, Bhayander in Thane district experienced 128.0mm, and Juhu Airport and Ram Mandir recorded 71.5mm and 76.5mm&nbsp;respectively.

The IMD earlier issued an orange alert, predicted heavy to hefty rainfall in six districts of Maharashtra, and said that Mumbai is expected to witness relatively less intense showers.&nbsp;

The department also issued an orange alert for the districts of Thane, Raigad, Palghar, Ratnagiri, Sindhudurg, and Nashik, indicating the possibility of heavy to very heavy rainfall in a few places.
