<p>After Hamas chief&nbsp;Ismail Haniyeh was killed on Wednesday (Jul 31), several Turkish media outlets stated that the leader of the outfit was assassinated by a Mossad agent named 'Amit Nakesh'.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While the name sounds Indian, it is&nbsp;fictional and a clever play on a similar-sounding Hebrew word 'hamitnakesh' that&nbsp;means 'assassin'.</p>

<p>After the reports of&nbsp;Haniyeh's killing surfaced, Israeli social media users started posting the clever play on the name, which ultimately flummoxed the Turkish media channels.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to a report in <em>The Jerusalem Post, </em>having named a fictional Mossad operative, the channels doubled down and went as far as tracing the origins of the shadowy, Indian-sounding Israeli assassin.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Some reports stated that Nakesh was "a former IDF officer with experience in specialised operations" and had served in a "secret intelligence unit".</p>

<p>The Turkish media was slow to react to the prank but eventually did realise their mistake and scrubbed off all&nbsp;the mentions of the mythical assassin.</p>

<p>Couple of days after<strong><em>&nbsp;</em></strong>US media said&nbsp;Haniyeh was killed in a bomb blast at a guesthouse he was staying at in Tehran, the&nbsp;<em>Telegraph </em>has published a report stating that the Hamas chief was neutralised by Mossad who hired Iranian agents.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The publication said that Mossad's Iranian picks placed the explosives in three separate rooms and detonated one of them from outside when Haniyeh was confirmed to be in the room.</p>

<p>“They are now certain that Mossad hired agents from the Ansar al-Mahdi protection unit. Upon further investigation, they discovered additional explosive devices in two other rooms,” an&nbsp;Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corp (IRGC) official was quoted as saying by the publication.&nbsp;</p>
