A Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) MLC from the eastern Indian state of Bihar has been expelled after he 'mimicked' Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.&nbsp;The Ethics Committee of the Bihar Legislative Council gave the marching orders to MLC Sunil Singh who had attempted to imitate the CM's mannerisms during the council proceedings on February 13, earlier this year.&nbsp;

The acting Council Chairperson Awadhesh Narayan&nbsp;on Friday (Jul 26) approved Singh's expulsion after the committee on Thursday gave the go-ahead upon completing its investigation.&nbsp;

Singh pleaded his innocence saying he did not mimic&nbsp;Nitish and even if he did, it did not warrant an expulsion from the House.&nbsp;

"I never mimicked the CM. Even mimicking the CM does not take away one’s membership from either House. Nitish Kumar is a CM who threatened people like me in the Council saying barbaad kar dunga (I will destroy you). He is a CM who disrespects women. There are several corruption cases during his tenure," said Singh.&nbsp;

Meanwhile,&nbsp;Leader of Opposition in the Bihar Legislative Council, Rabri Devi termed the action a “dark chapter”.

“Ye action kala adhaya hai loktantra mein (this action is a dark chapter in democracy). When the government of the poor comes, it is called jungle raj. It is murder of democracy. Everyone raises slogans, a few months back when the BJP was in the Opposition, they also used to enter the well, they also did not let the House function. The government has forgotten everything,” she said.

The decision against Singh came on the final day of the Monsoon session, meaning he will be suspended when the House reconvenes for the next session.&nbsp;

Notably, Singh has been a close aide of RJD chief Lalu Prasad for over 20 overs and currently&nbsp;heads the&nbsp;Bihar State Cooperative Marketing Union.&nbsp;

Nitish's party Janata Dal United (JDU) and RJD were in coalition in the state up until the start of the year. However, ahead of the Lok Sabha elections, Nitish severed ties with RJD as well as INDI Alliance and joined his old ally, the BJP-led&nbsp;NDA.&nbsp;

With the franchise sharing a strategic relationship with Victoria’s first-class set-up, Cummins’ signing is a bumper one, with the 31-year-old likely to lead the side following Aaron Finch’s retirement.

Up and running since the New Zealand Tour earlier in February, Cummins would ply his trade in USA’s franchise-based T20 League, starting almost five days after the end of the ongoing 2024 T20 World Cup in the Americas.&nbsp;

Almost new to franchise cricket, Cummins enjoyed his stint with SunRisers Hyderabad in IPL 2024, where he led the team to the finals in his maiden attempt as a T20 skipper.

MI New York have announced the signing of nine international players who will compete in the inaugural season of the Major League Cricket (MLC) in the United States. The players will complete the roster of 18 players, featuring a strong core of experience, homegrown talent, and young players, a feature that is common across all the MI teams, in three different continents, four different countries, and five different leagues. In addition to the players, MI New York have also announced their line-up of coaching staff for the inaugural season.

<h2>Pollard leads star-steadied team</h2>

Mumbai Indians legend Kieron Pollard will captain the franchise and the roster also includes Afghanistan’s T20I captain Rashid Khan and former West Indies captain Nicholas Pooran.&nbsp; They will be joined by New Zealand fast bowler Trent Boult and the Aussie duo of the big-hitting Tim David and pacer Jason Behrendorff. The team will also feature rising South African star Dewald Brevis, pace sensation Kagiso Rabada, and Namibian all-rounder David Wiese, who has previously represented South Africa as well. All the players except for David Wiese also play across multiple MI Teams – Mumbai Indians, MI Cape Town, and MI Emirates, forming a strong core for MI, globally.

<h2>Coaching Team</h2>

Former SA &amp; MI player and MI Cape Town General Manager Robin Peterson will be the head coach, joined by Mumbai Indians legend Lasith Malinga, as bowling coach. J Arun Kumar and James Pamment will take charge as the batting and fielding coaches respectively. Both Arun Kumar and Pamment were part of the coaching team as assistant batting coach and fielding coach at Mumbai Indians.

Major League Cricket will be the first professional Twenty20 cricket championship in the United States. The inaugural season of Major League Cricket will kick off in the summer of 2023.

MLC 2023: MI New York announce star-steadied squad for inaugural season; Kieron Pollard to take charge

On Thursday (May 25), speculations were rife that England's swashbuckling opener Jason Roy is set to quit his national contract and represent the Los Angeles Knight Riders, Kolkata Knight Riders' (KKR) sister franchise in the upcoming inaugural&nbsp;Major Cricket League. However, Roy&nbsp;broke&nbsp;his silence on the reports and&nbsp;stated&nbsp;that 'England cricket remains his priority' in an ODI World Cup year despite his inclination to play in MLC.

Roy took to his Twitter handle to share the statement. He said, "Following a bit of unwanted speculation over the last 24 hours, I wanted to clarify that I am not and never will ‘walk away from England’. Representing my country continues to be my proudest moment as a professional cricketer. I hope to play for England for many more years, that remains my priority."

<h2>'My priority is England cricket with world cup upon us'</h2>

Roy added, "I've had clear and supportive conversations with the ECB about participating in Major league Cricket. The ECB were happy with me to play in the competition as long as they didn't have to pay me for the remainder of the contractual year.”

"As a single format player with no central contract, I wanted to take the opportunity to play this competition as there are currently no scheduling conflicts with England. It benefits me as an England player to play as much competitive cricket possible.

“Just to be very clear, my priority is England cricket, especially with a World Cup soon upon us. It is for me, and for any player, the greatest honour to receive a cap to play for their country,”&nbsp;Roy said.
