“We held discussions on finalising the mobility and migration partnership agreement as soon as possible. This will help emboldening our people-to-people partnership," PM Modi said in a press conference after the talks.

Mitsotakis&nbsp;also said he's sure that the two countries "will finalize very quickly a very important agreement on migration and mobility".

Additionally,&nbsp;&nbsp;PM Modi&nbsp;said, "It's a matter of happiness" that India and Greece "are heading towards doubling the bilateral trade by 2030".&nbsp;

Mitsotakis expressed that it's his inaugural official visit to India. He emphasised collaborating with Prime Minister Modi to further enhance the positive trajectory of their bilateral relationship.

And as the Prime Minister said, we are making significant progress towards deepening the strategic cooperation in all spheres- security and defence, investment and trade, science and technology, cyberspace, education, culture, tourism, agriculture," Mitsotakis&nbsp;said.

Accompanied by his wife Mareva Grabowski-Mitsotakis, the Greek PM received a ceremonial guard of honour at the forecourt of Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Wednesday (Feb 21).

"It is a privilege to be in India on an official state visit, reciprocating the visit of the Prime Minister to Greece a few months ago," Mitsitakis said.

"For Greece, the strategic partnership between our two countries is of particular importance and we will have the opportunity to discuss a wide range of topics, political consultations, strategic partnership, but also fostering our economic lives between our two economies. So it's a real privilege to be here and I'm really looking forward to the discussions we will have."

Earlier in the day, the Greek prime minister held discussions with External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, who commended Mitsotakis' dedication to strengthening ties between the two nations.

The Greek coastguard was continuing its search for survivors of the sinking of a boat carrying migrants that killed at least 78 people overnight Tuesday.&nbsp;

Hopes of finding survivors are fading "by the minute," according to officials.&nbsp;

The coastguard has so far rescued 104 people from the boat which rescuers said was carrying "hundreds" of migrants.&nbsp;

While condemning the "tragic" loss of life, including "children", Spilios Kriketos, a lawmaker in Mitsotakis' New Democracy (ND) party, said Thursday that Greece "cannot tolerate more migrants", in an interview on the Kontra YouTube channel.&nbsp;

He then accused migrants of stealing.

On Friday, ND said it had expelled him.&nbsp;

"Opinions such as those expressed by Spilios Kriketos have no place in our party," the party said in a statement. &nbsp;

"Statements of hate and racism are not part of the party's values."

Kriketos is running in the June 25 legislative elections which follow Mitsotakis's first place finish in May's polls which nonetheless left him without a clear parliamentary majority.&nbsp;

The main leftist opposition party Syriza on Friday called the remarks "racist" and called on the ND to expel Kriketos.&nbsp;

The former conservative government of Mitsotakis, in power for four years from 2019 to 2023 and credited with winning the May 25 elections, has followed a strict immigration policy and emphasised "security" and border lockdowns.&nbsp;

Greek media and NGOs have repeatedly accused Greece of carrying out "illegal" expulsions of migrants in the Aegean Sea, a charge rejected by the previous government.&nbsp;

"New Democracy implemented a strict but fair immigration policy, keeping the borders but protecting human life and saving thousands of people who were in danger at sea," the party said.&nbsp;

"There’s no longer anyone called Mitsotakis in my book," Turkey's prime minister declared, adding, "I will never agree to have a meeting with him because we only walk on the same path as politicians who keep their promises&nbsp;who have character and who are honourable.”

The F-16 deal was halted&nbsp;by the former Trump administration after Turkey acquired the Russian S-400 defence missile systems.&nbsp;

Erdogan had earlier ordered 100 US F-35 jets, however, after the Russian defence deal, Turkey was removed from the programme. Turkey said the move was unjust as it demanded reimbursement of its $1.4 billion payment.

There has been tensions between Turkey and Greece over a several issues including maritime boundary claims, energy security, space and the status of the islands in the Aegean Sea.&nbsp;

Amid differences with Finland and Sweden over NATO membership, Turkey's President Recep Tayyip Erdogan declared that he no longer recognises Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis. Erdogan accussed Mitsotakis of trying to block the sale of American F-16 fighters during his visit to the United States. Turkey's president said Mitsotakis had spoken to the US Congress where he reportedly asked the US lawmakers not to supply the fighters to Turkey. Erdogan had earlier accussed Greece of harbouring the Gülenist Terror Group (FETÖ). "There’s no longer anyone called Mitsotakis in my book," Turkey's prime minister declared, adding, "I will never agree to have a meeting with him because we only walk on the same path as politicians who keep their promises who have character and who are honourable.” Watch: Erdogan calls Swedish & Finnish leaders The F-16 deal was halted by the former Trump administration after Turkey acquired the Russian S-400 defence missile systems. Erdogan had earlier ordered 100 US F-35 jets, however, after the Russian defence deal, Turkey was removed from the programme. Turkey said the move was unjust as it demanded reimbursement of its $1.4 billion payment. There has been tensions between Turkey and Greece over a several issues including maritime boundary claims, energy security, space and the status of the islands in the Aegean Sea.
