There is absolutely no doubt about it. Our relations with the Gulf are at an all-time high. And there is absolutely no question of the fact that we enjoy excellent relations with the Islamic world.&nbsp;"

Earlier this year, in a first, India was invited as a guest of honour at the Organisation&nbsp;of Islamic Cooperation (OIC)&nbsp;Foreign Minister's meet.&nbsp;

On being asked if India would like to join the OIC,&nbsp;Secretary Economic Relations said, "the invitation they extended to us, as a guest of honour, is something which reflected in many ways the high esteem that the Islamic world has for India and there is no doubt about it.&nbsp;but however, at this point of time, I don't think there is any thinking to take it any further as of now."

India plans to roll out RuPay cards in the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain and for that necessary Memorandum of Understanding will be signed during PM Modi's visit to both the countries.&nbsp;

After Singapore and Bhutan, both the West Asian countries will be adopting the RuPay cards that will help the huge Indian diaspora and the visiting Indian tourist.&nbsp;

As a two-way investment between West Asia and India has been increasing,&nbsp;Indian PSUs are keen to invest in Bahrain's newly discovered Khaleej Al Bahrain oil basin located off the west coast.&nbsp;

Earlier this month, Saudi Arabia backed Saudi&nbsp;Aramco, one of the world's largest company by revenue, announced that it will acquire a 20% stake in Reliance's oil to the chemical business making it India's largest foreign direct investment.&nbsp;

"It is not surprising that such developmental initiatives that could address any disaffection in Jammu and Kashmir should be negatively perceived in Pakistan, which has utilised such sentiments to justify its cross-border terrorism," the external affairs ministry said.

"The recent developments pertaining to Article 370 are entirely the internal affair of India," the statement added.

"The government regrets the steps announced by Pakistan on Wednesday and would urge that country to review them so that normal channels for diplomatic communications are preserved," the external affairs ministry asserted.

In a related development, Islamabad also partially closed its airspace with India on the eastern front. At least three entry points out of the nine between India and Pakistan on the eastern were closed, according to reports.

The airspace will be closed from August 6 to September 5 between 02:45 to 11:00(Pakistan Standard Time)&nbsp;every day except Sundays.&nbsp;

Jaishankar shared the update after Tamil Nadu Chief Minister K.Palaniswami brought to the notice of the Centre and MEA on the plight of Chennai-based Adithyaa Vasudevan, aged 27, along with 18 other Indian sailors, who were onboard when the UK registered ship Stena Impero was detained by Iran.

Palaniswami further wrote in the letter that Vasudevan, working in the ship as Third Officer, was sailing from Fujairah, UAE, to Jubail, Saudi Arabia, and was detained on July 19, along with 22 other sailors (including 18 Indians) at the Strait of Hormuz by the IRGC.

The father of Vasudevan has represented to the Tamil Nadu Government for his early release and repatriation.

"I request your good office to direct the authorities concerned and secure the immeditate release and repatriation of Vasudevan and other sailors to India," the Chief Minister wrote.

India had recently availed consular access to 18 Indian crew members on board the UK registered ship.Iran had last month seized the Stena Impero ship.

Following the seizure, cargo vessel owner said that there were 23 people on board with 18 Indian nationals, a statement issued by company Stena Bulk said, as quoted by CNN.

The vessel owner has also said that the crew is in good health.

"Our insurers in the region have been in contact with the Head of Marine Affairs at the Port of Bandar Abbas, who has reported that the crew members of our vessel Stena Impero are in 'good health'&nbsp;and that the tanker is at the nearby Bandar Bahonar anchorage," the company statement added.

India on Sunday strongly condemned the terror attack in Kabul that targeted the office of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/afghan-vice-president-candidate-injured-as-kabul-blast-kills-two-wounds-another-25-239058">Vice Presidential candidate Amrullah Saleh</a> and left two people dead.

"India strongly condemns the terrorist attack in Kabul today in which a number of innocent Afghans were killed. India expresses its deepest condolences with the families of the deceased," the Ministry of External Affairs said in a statement.

"This dastardly attack was also aimed at undermining the constitutional and democratic processes and institutions in Afghanistan. India stands in solidarity with the Government and the people of Afghanistan in their efforts to achieve enduring peace, security and stability in Afghanistan," the statement read.

Afghanistan Interior Ministry spokesman, Nasrat Rahimi, said that the attack which targeted the Green Trend party headquarters in Kabul, injured 25 others, Al Jazeera reported.

Saleh was reportedly hit by shrapnel before being safely evacuated from office.

Ferdous Faramarz, a spokesman for Kabul's police chief, was quoted as saying that the explosion was likely a suicide car bomb and the gunfight was still ongoing after the assailants stormed the building following the blast.

However, no terror group immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.

"The security forces have cordoned off the area. The security forces are trying to kill the attackers as soon as possible," Rahimi said.

The attack took place after <a href="https://www.wionews.com/south-asia/afghan-peace-is-coming-president-ashraf-ghani-claims-as-election-campaign-starts-239001">President Ashraf Ghani</a>, Saleh and more than a dozen other Afghan politicians launched their presidential campaign earlier on Sunday.

"My brother, true son of the Afghan soil and first VP candidate of my electoral team, Amrullah Saleh has survived a complex attack by enemies of the state. We are relieved and thank the almighty that the attack has failed," Ghani said in a tweet.

Ghani kicked off his campaign by insisting "peace is coming" and pivotal talks with the Taliban would take place.

The non-binding charter has been set up under the UN-SPIDER, which is a platform that facilitates the use of space-based technologies for disaster management and emergency response.

"The National Remote Sensing Center (NRSC) represents ISRO as a member of the International Charter Space and Major Disasters. The charter has been set up under the UN-SPIDER. By combining Earth observation assets from different space agencies, the charter allows resources and expertise to be coordinated for rapid response to major disaster situations," said Raveesh Kumar, MEA`s Spokesperson.

"Whenever there is a natural disaster, NRSC, and member space agencies of other 32 countries which are a part of the charter can activate the charter and then the charter seeks the information pertaining to the disaster-hit area available with all the 33 member space agencies," he added.

"This is the standard practice. Due to the heavy floods in India, the charter was activated on July 17 by NRSC. Under the charter, so far data has been received from eight countries, including USGS, CNES, ESA, ROSCOSMOS, Chinese National Space Agency (CNSA) and 3 others.ISRO has also provided information to other space agencies in response to similar requests," Kumar lastly said.

The Chinese Ambassador to India, Sun Weidong, had earlier said that China had provided India with satellite data related to the floods, which has seen widespread damage in regions like Assam, Manipur, Bihar, etc.

While infrastructural damage has been reported, scores of people have also lost their lives due to the floods. Several animals, including the vulnerable rhinoceros at Kaziranga National Park, have also died in the calamity.&nbsp;

Rescue operations are currently underway in the affected regions.

Speaking at the Passport Seva Diwas in Delhi, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar said, "The Ministry has initiated discussions with the India Security Press regarding the project for the issue of chip-enabled e-passports to the citizens."

Explaining that the ministry has proposed to "pursue the manufacture of e-passports on priority" so that a "new passport booklet with advanced security features can be rolled out in the near future."

India Security Press in Nashik will be working on the chip-enabled e-passports which will have security features.

India issues more than one crore passports every year. The Indian government has introduced a number of reforms for the delivery of Passport which includes simplification of passport rules to launch of Passport Seva Kendras.&nbsp;

When it comes to simplification of the passport rule, self-attested documents are now acceptable and India has eased the process of getting passports for minors by their single parent and also for applicants who are either separated or divorced.

'India ready to shape global outcomes,' External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar tells envoys

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will pay a state visit to the Republic of Maldives and Sri Lanka on June 8 and 9, the ministry of external affairs (MEA) has announced. This will be his first foreign visit in his second term.

The ambitious Kartarpur corridor linking Pakistan's Gurudwara Darbar Sahib with India's Dera Baba Nanak shrine has hit a roadblock after the technical experts from both the countries could not find a consensus on building a bridge over Ravi's floodplain, a media report said Tuesday.

The experts from Pakistan and India on Monday held a meeting to discuss the modalities for the corridor at the Kartarpur Zero Point.

The Express Tribune reported that the meeting lasted only one hour during which the representatives of both the sides exchanged details of the construction work.

India wants the construction of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/kartarpur-corridor-india-asks-pakistan-to-build-bridge-on-ravi-river-216618">a kilometre-long bridge on the Ravi river</a> while Pakistan suggested the need to construct a road, it said.

The Indian officials objected to the road, citing the possibility of floods in the river. However, the Pakistani officials said that a dam could be built around the road and the inclination of the road could be kept high to avoid flood waters, the report said.

The two countries also could not agree on the date for the next meeting.

The group from the Indian side had officials from the Ministry of External Affairs, Ministry of Home Affairs, Land Ports Authority of India, National Highways Authority of India, among others.

The Pakistani side was represented by the officials of Federal Investigation Agency, customs, construction, Pakistan Rangers Punjab and Survey of Pakistan.

Earlier in April, technical experts and foreign ministry officials from both the sides participated in the talks held at the same venue.

In the March meeting, the two sides decided to present surveys and maps for border fencing and developmental work on the Dera Baba Nanak-Kartarpur Sahib Corridor to their respective governments.

In November 2018, India and Pakistan agreed to set up a border crossing linking Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Pakistan's Kartarpur - the final resting place of Sikh faith founder Guru Nanak - to Dera Baba Nanak in Punjab's Gurdaspur district.

Pakistan has said that the work on the corridor will be completed before the 550th birth anniversary of Baba Guru Nanak in November this year.

The MEA, in a release, stated that those who would need to travel to the neighbouring country and are not in a situation to avoid it can contact the High Commission of India in Colombo.&nbsp;

"In case of those undertaking essential travels, they can contact the High Commission of India in Colombo or the Assistant HC in Kandy/Consulates in Hambantota and Jaffna in case of requirement of any assistance. Helpline nos. of the Indian HC are available on the Mission’s website," the ministry noted.&nbsp;

"In view of the prevailing security situation in Sri Lanka in the aftermath of terror attacks on 21 April 2019, Indian nationals intending to travel to Sri Lanka are advised not to undertake non-essential travel," the release read.&nbsp;

The release explaining the situation in the country said," The Government of Sri Lanka has beefed up the security in the country. A nation-wide emergency including night time curfew is in place at present which may also affect travel within Sri Lanka."

The US State Department also authorized the "voluntary departure of non-emergency US government employees and family members."

Washington warned that terror groups are plotting a possible attack in the Island country. The possible location could be "tourist locations, transportation hubs, markets, shopping malls, government facilities, hotels, clubs, restaurants, places of worship, parks, major sporting and cultural events, educational institutions, airports, hospitals"

The United Kingdom has already updated its travel advisory to the country.

Australia in its travel advisory to its citizens said, "Terrorists are likely to carry out further attacks in Sri Lanka." and these "attacks could be indiscriminate, including in places visited by foreigners.''

Russia too followed suit and has asked its citizens to refrain from visiting Sri Lanka.

A series of blasts hit Sri Lanka last week on the day of Easter Sunday. Over 250 people were killed in suicide bombings that had targetted churches and hotels across the island nation.&nbsp;

Indian nationals are advised not to undertake non-essential travel to Sri Lanka: Ministry of External Affairs

The Ministry of External Affairs on Monday said that that all evidence of terrorist activities of Pakistan-based terror outfit Jaish-e-Mohammed and its leader Masood Azhar have been shared with China.&nbsp;

The MEA stated that the 1267 Sanctions Committee and other UN-authorised bodies will now take a decision on Azhar's listing, adding that "India will continue to pursue all avenues to ensure that terrorist leaders who are involved in heinous attacks on our citizens are brought to justice."&nbsp;

The MEA's response was to a media query on discussions with China on the 1267 listing of JeM leader Masood Azhar during foreign secretary <a href="https://www.wionews.com/india-news/foreign-secretary-vijay-gokhale-visits-china-talks-on-masood-azhar-possible-212484">Vijay Gokhale's recent visit to Beijing</a>.&nbsp;

Gokhale's visit comes even as India and China mark one year since the Wuhan informal summit that took place in April 2018.

Foreign secretary Gokhale also called on the Chinese foreign minister and state councillor Wang Yi.

Meanwhile when asked about if Masood Azhar was raised by India during the talks, Chinese foreign ministry spokesperson Geng Shuang said, "The common interests of China and India are far greater than the differences between the two sides."

"We hope that the two sides will continue to strengthen coordination and cooperation and maintain the positive momentum of the sound development of bilateral relations. In this regard, China is ready to work with India," he added.&nbsp;

After the Pulwama attack, a fresh proposal to designate Azhar under the 1267 Al Qaeda Sanctions Committee of the UN Security Council was moved by France, the UK and the US.

However, China blocked the bid by putting a "technical hold" on the proposal. Following this, the US backed by the UK and France moved directly to UN Security Council (UNSC) to blacklist Azhar.

China, a veto-wielding member of the UNSC, had opposed the move, saying the issue should be resolved at the 1267 Committee itself which also functioned under the top UN body.
