<p>Rehberger said that the company did not take any steps and just closed the ticket while calling it a "Model Safety Issue" and not a security issue.</p>

<p>However, studies suggest that not all such lucid episodes indicate that death is imminent.&nbsp;As per one study, many people suffering from advanced dementia have shown brief memories of their&nbsp;own&nbsp;selves more than six months before dying.</p>

<p>There have also been reports of cases of lucidity in other conditions such as meningitis and schizophrenia - which affect the thinking skills or the brain - and in people who have brain tumours or have sustained a brain injury.</p>

<p>So they did this. They carried out an experiment involving mice and observed their brain activity. The scientists chose 13 mice and showed them two black-and-white images 64 times during the day for two seconds at a time. Other than this, the mice received no stimulation.</p>

<p>Scientists continued showing the mice these images and studied parts of their brains called the visual cortex and hippocampus. The visual cortex analyses&nbsp;what is being seen while the hippocampus is associated with consolidation or memories.</p>

<p>The scientists observed that when the mice looked at the black-and-white images, the neurons in the visual cortex fired up in a specific pattern.</p>

<p>Human memory is fallible and malleable. In forensic settings in particular, this poses a challenge because people may falsely remember events with legal implications that never actually happened.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite an urgent need for remedies, however, research on whether and how rich false autobiographical memories can be reversed under realistic conditions, that is, using reversal strategies that can be applied in real-world settings, is virtually non-existent.</p>

<p>The present study therefore not only replicates and extends previous demonstrations of false memories but, crucially, documents their reversibility after the fact: Employing two ecologically valid strategies, we show that rich but false autobiographical memories can mostly be undone. Importantly, reversal was specific to false memories, that is, did not occur for true memories.</p>

<p>While multiple studies succeeded in inducing false memories in interview settings, this research&nbsp;reverses this effect&nbsp;and thereby reduce the potential damage,&nbsp;by means of two ecologically valid strategies.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Scientists&nbsp;successfully implanted false memories for two plausible autobiographical events (suggested by the students’ parents, alongside two true events).</p>

<p>Over three repeated interviews, participants developed false memories (measured by state-of-the-art coding) of the suggested events under minimally suggestive conditions (27 per cent) and even more so using massive suggestion (56 per cent).</p>

<p>They then used two techniques to reduce false memory endorsement, source sensitization (alerting interviewees to possible external sources of the memories, for example, family narratives) and false memory sensitization (raising the possibility of false memories being inadvertently created in memory interviews, delivered by a new interviewer).</p>

<p>This reversed the false memory build-up over the first three interviews, returning false memory rates in both suggestion conditions to the baseline levels of the first interview that is from 15 per cent to 25 per cent.
