Bilquis Mir is a former water sports champion and trainer from Srinagar who has represented the country at dozens of National and International water sports championships. Bilquis started her journey on the world-famous Srinagar's Dal Lake at the age of six. &nbsp;

'It's a proud moment not only for me but the whole country that India will be a part of the upcoming jury at the Olympics in 2024. It's a dream come true, I started my sports career at the age of six and&nbsp;finally, we are there, India is there. Everyone has a dream of reaching there and I will be the first woman to be there from my country,'' said Bilquis.&nbsp;

The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) has confirmed the appointment of Bilquis Mir in a letter sent to the Jammu and Kashmir government. Bilquis has represented the country multiple times, including as the coach for the women's canoeing team. She was also the only Indian woman and the first from Jammu and Kashmir to be appointed as a jury member at the 19th Asian Games held at Hangzhou in China.

''It was not easy to excel at the International level, being a Kashmiri girl and starting from Dal Lake when there is no awareness about water sports, especially for girls. But I believe never give up on your dreams and keep going and trust yourself. Nobody can stop you from achieving your goal. I want to see my UT and country on the world map, and I want to see more girls like Bilquis represent the country. '' said Bilquis Mir.&nbsp;

Bilquis was bestowed with an award by the government of Jammu and Kashmir. She has also been the recipient of the Devi Award.

The Seattle Times&nbsp;also said that this announcement came as the demand for offices in Seattle decreased by the continuous rise of remote work and a tech slowdown that resulted in massive&nbsp;layoffs. It also said that Redmond-based Microsoft confirmed the reports that it won't renew its lease at the 26-storey City Centre plaza in Bellevue when that&nbsp;lease ends in 2024.&nbsp;

Tracy Clayton, a Meta spokesperson told Seattle Times that the recent leasing decision has been primarily driven by the company's move toward&nbsp;remote.&nbsp;He also said that "Meta is also trying to be...financially prudent."

The Seattle Times also said that even the non-vacant offices are almost half-empty, owing to remote work. 
 
Since last summer, Seattle has&nbsp;only 40 per cent of the workers present before the pandemic.

The company, which is run by Bhavish Aggarwal, has around 1,100 employees as part of its main ride-hailing business.

Restructuring exercises had earlier impacted employees across the business, marketing, sales, operations, product, supply and tech verticals at the company and resulted in the layoff&nbsp;of almost 500 employees that "were a result of restructuring in the cars and dash businesses".

Tesla has communicated to some employees that it will be stopping hiring.&nbsp;

The current spate of layoffs comes after Tesla CEO Elon Musk implemented a 10 per cent staff cut in June. At the time, Musk reportedly gave different reasons to different people for the layoffs. He even chalked it up to a "very bad feeling" about the economy.

In the last year, since September and especially after Musk's acquisition of Twitter, Tesla stock has experienced a steady fall which might be contributing to the hiring freeze. This year, the company's shares have lost nearly 60 per cent of their value so far.

Cost cutting? This is what H&M, US food delivery firm DoorDash said as they plan to sack employees

Stockholm-headquartered fashion label Hennes &amp; Mauritz (H&amp;M) announced 1,500 job cuts citing lesser consumer demand due to soaring inflation in the countries that constitute its core market base. After Paris-based Louis Vuitton, H&amp;M is the world's second richest fashion label and sells its "disposable fashion" in 53 countries worldwide.&nbsp;

The development comes amid rising cost of living crisis in European countries stoked in-part by escalation of conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The crisis has pushed companies across Europe and the United States to take drastic steps to weather the period of uncertainties.

H&amp;M employs about 155,000 people worldwide. The current cuts are aimed at saving 2 billion Swedish crowns per year ($189.5 million).

The company said the savings would begin from the second half of next year, while it will take a restructuring charge of 800 million Swedish crowns ($75.80 million) in the fourth quarter.

"We are in a big transition and the whole retail industry is facing a lot of challenges," H&amp;M's investor relations head Nils Vinge told Reuters, pointing to headwinds from the pandemic, the Ukraine war and rising input, freight and energy costs.

"It's very clear that when consumers have paid for their food, energy, gas, and so on there is less to spend. So what is obvious is that demand for value for money increases."

The lion's part of the cuts would be made in Sweden, Vinge said.

While high-street retailers are struggling due to stiff competition from online-only brands, British fashion retailer Primark has recently announced plans to add 1,800 jobs in Spain and Britain as it benefits from shoppers trading down in price.

After Paris-based Louis Vuitton, H&M is the world's second richest fashion label and sells its "disposable fashion" in 53 countries worldwide. The development comes amid rising cost of living crisis in European countries stoked in-part by escalation of conflict between Russia and Ukraine. The crisis has pushed companies across Europe and the United States to take drastic steps to weather the period of uncertainties. H&M employs about 155,000 people worldwide. The current cuts are aimed at saving 2 billion Swedish crowns per year ($189.5 million). The company said the savings would begin from the second half of next year, while it will take a restructuring charge of 800 million Swedish crowns ($75.80 million) in the fourth quarter.
