<p>Holley later said that the discovery of rocks at a depth of about 40 feet (12.1 metre) was entirely unexpected.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In the analysis, it was found that the stones - which weighed around 3,000 lbs (around 1,360 kg) - appeared to have been arranged deliberately by humans in a circular pattern, as reported by Medium.</p>

<p>The circular pattern is nearly 40 feet in diameter and features an&nbsp;inner circle of stones which measures around 20 feet in diameter.</p>

<p>The stones are entirely made of granite and are likely to be around 10,000 years old, which makes them the oldest formation ever discovered in North America.</p>

<p>The stones in Lake Michigan are relatively similar in size, however, their origin remains mysterious and murky. &nbsp;</p>

<p>“Whilst they do seem to form a perfect geometric shape, they aren't stacked or connected in the same way,” said scientist Rob Nelson, while speaking to&nbsp;Discovery&nbsp;UK.</p>

<p>“And while there is evidence that prehistoric tribes roam to the Great Lakes for thousands of years, very little is known about them,” he said, and added that he hasn’t seen anything “remotely resembling this formation in the archaeological record".</p>

<p>Nelson connected to a man named Hank. This man's ancestors were the Anishinaabe people who were the first to inhabit the region.</p>

<p>Hank said that the prehistoric, hunter-gatherer forefathers of his tribe had settled in the area after the last Ice Age and kept those stones beneath the lake for a sacred purpose.</p>

<p>“[In Anishabe culture], we refer to stones as animate objects because they come from the mother, the Earth, who is alive,” he said and added that the presence of the monument in the lake is proof of the existence of his people.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, Holley said that the area had not submerged underwater 10,000 years ago and the people had settled on the spot where they had laid the stones.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“It would've been a wonderful place for people to live – near the coastline, close to resources, transportation's easy,” said the archaeologist, while speaking to Nelson.</p>

<p>A missing US Navy sailor who was last seen leaving a pub the day after St Patrick's Day has been found dead in a harbour close to Lake Michigan.&nbsp;Officials announced that 21-year-old Seamus Gray, who disappeared last month and caused his mother Kerry to suffer for weeks, had been discovered near a lake in Waukegan, Illinois.</p>

<p>Rescue workers and Navy troops scoured the city in a desperate search while Kerry posted social media updates about her anguish.</p>

<p>Utility workers waved down police officers on Wednesday at around 7 p.m. when they were conducting a traffic stop close to the Waukegan Harbour, according to the police, reported the Daily Mail.</p>

<p>The ComEd workers reported what they thought to be a body in the water as they were performing normal maintenance close to the harbour.</p>

<p>The body was pulled onto the shore with assistance from the Waukegan Fire Department, and police chief Edgardo Navarro said it matched Gray's physical description.</p>

<p>According to WGN9, the body's clothing matched his description as well. It&nbsp;was later identified as being that of Gray by the Lake County coroner.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Waukegan's Genesee Street, detectives discovered security tape showing Grey leaving the Ibiza Bar.</p>

<p>He is seen exiting the bar alone in the footage while wearing a pink suit.&nbsp;</p>

<p>'Tomorrow I have to do what no mother should ever have to do. I have to go on a foot search with the Police Department, Fire Department and many others who will join in to find my son Séamus Grays body,' she wrote on March 23.</p>

Man jumps into Lake Michigan for 365 straight days

<p>A Chicago bus driver looking for a way to relieve stress during the coronavirus pandemic jumped into Lake Michigan for a 365th straight day on Saturday.</p>

<p>Dan O'Conor said he started jumping into the lake at Montrose Harbour on the city's North Side last year to relieve stress.</p>

<p>"It was during the pandemic, it was during the protest, it was during an election year. ... So it was somewhere where I could come down here and block all that noise out and kind of be totally present with me in the lake, and find some moments of Zen," said the father of three.</p>

<p>He continued jumping into the lake through the fall before the hard part: Hacking a hole in the ice on the frozen lake that was big enough for him to jump through during the winter. He said when he got home after one such jump, he found about 20 scrapes and cuts on his body.</p>

<p>He was encouraged by the response he got for his undertaking. "People started asking me what this was benefiting and how they could support and when I say people, I'm talking strangers online, you know. When I started posting the videos on Twitter and Instagram ... I got more wind in my sails there because people started commenting like, This makes my day, it's nice to see this," he said.</p>

<p>Saturday was special because it was the culmination of doing it for a full year. "I just wanted to celebrate just that drive to dive for 365," O'Conor said.&nbsp;</p>
