Adding, "Since the matter is subjudice, therefore, we can not comment on it. However, we expect positive results since our case was well prepared."

Kulbhushan Jadhav case: International Court of Justice to hold four-day public hearing from February 18 to 21

Pakistan is expected to file its counter rejoinder in the Kulbhushan Jadhav case in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on or before July 17, a report in The Dawn said.

Pakistan's rejoinder will be in response to a fresh set of pleadings filed by India in the International Court of Justice (ICJ) on April 17.

The office of Pakistan's attorney general, which is overseeing the case, is expected to receive the copy of the Indian rejoinder in a day or two, Dawn reported.

Khawar Qureshi, who pleaded Pakistan's case at the initial stage, is expected to plead the case, the report said.&nbsp;

Kulbhushan Jadhav was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court in April last year on charges of espionage and terrorism.&nbsp;

India had moved the Hague-based ICJ in May last year after Jadhav, 47, was sentenced to death. A 10-member bench of the ICJ on May 18 had restrained Pakistan from executing Jadhav till adjudication of the case.&nbsp;

In its written pleadings, India had accused Pakistan of violating the Vienna Convention by not giving consular access to Jadhav. It had argued that the convention did not say that such access would not be available to an individual arrested on espionage charges.

In response, Pakistan told the ICJ that the Vienna Convention on Consular Relations 1963 applied only to legitimate visitors and did not apply to spies and to clandestine operations.

India has been maintaining that the trial of Kulbhushan Jadhav by a military court in Pakistan was "farcical".&nbsp;

Pakistan claims that its security forces arrested Kulbhushan Jadhav from restive Balochistan province on March 3, 2016 after he reportedly entered from Iran.&nbsp;

India, however, maintains that Kulbhushan Jadhav was kidnapped from Iran where he had business interests after retiring from the Navy. Jadhav's sentencing had evoked a sharp reaction in India.&nbsp;

Pakistan to file counter-rejoinder in Kulbhushan Jadhav case by July 17: Report

Pakistan submitted its reply to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in Kulbhushan Jadhav case on Wednesday.

Pakistan&#39;s reply comes after India had submitted its written response to registrar Philippe Couvreur of the ICJ in the same case in September this year.

According to Geo News, dismissing India&#39;s stance on former Indian Naval officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, Pakistan in its reply has alleged that Jadhav is not an ordinary person and had entered the country with the intent of spying and carrying out sabotage activities.

The reply, which was submitted by the Foreign Office&#39;s Director (India), Fariha Bugti, also claimed that Jadhav case does not fall under the purview of the Vienna Convention.

Citing sources, Geo News reported that that the reply also encompasses the charge-sheet against Jadhav and narrates Pakistan&#39;s stance in a comprehensive manner.

Earlier this month, Pakistan agreed to facilitate the visit Jadhav&#39;s mother and his wife and also assured their safety, security and freedom of movement in the nation, India&#39;s External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said.

Jadhav was arrested in Pakistan&#39;s Balochistan Province over charges of alleged involvement in espionage and subversive activities for India&#39;s intelligence agency - the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW).

Pakistan submits reply to ICJ in Kulbhushan Jadhav case, says he's a spy

India on Wednesday submitted its written pleadings to the International Court of Justice (ICJ) in the case of Kulbhushan Jadhav, a former naval officer of the country whose death sentence by a Pakistan military court for alleged espionage had been suspended by the UN top court pending its final judgement.

Kulbhushan Jadhav case: ICJ asks India to make submissions by September 13

Pakistan has urged the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to adopt an expedited timetable for hearing the Kulbhushan Jadhav&nbsp;case.

According to a statement issued by the office of the Attorney General of Pakistan, delegations of India and Pakistan on Thursday met ICJ president Ronny Abraham to discuss the timelines in the Jadhav case. The Registrar of the court and other court officials were also present in the meeting. The purpose of the meeting was only to discuss procedural matters including the timelines for submission of written memorials and to enable a hearing to be listed.

The Nation reported Sartaj Aziz, adviser to the Pakistani Prime Minister, as saying the new team of lawyers would present Pakistan&#39;s stance vigorously at the ICJ.&nbsp;

&quot;Pakistan&rsquo;s security is so important and we have to maintain our fundamental sovereign right,&rdquo; The Nation reported him as saying.&nbsp;

The ICJ is the top United Nations legal body for hearing disputes between states and its rulings are binding -- though occasionally flouted.

&quot;It is appropriate for the court to order that Pakistan take all measures at its disposal to ensure Mr Jadhav is not executed before this (11-member) court has given its final decision,&quot; presiding Judge Ronny Abraham said.&nbsp;

The decision was unanimous.

Jadhav, a former officer in the Indian navy, was arrested in March 2016 in the Pakistani province of Balochistan.&nbsp;

There has been a long-running conflict in Balochistan between Pakistani security forces and a militant separatist movement.&nbsp;

Kulbhushan Jadhav case: Pakistan to change legal team

India on Monday urged the UN&#39;s top court, the International Court of Justice, to stop Pakistan from executing Indian national Kulbhushan Jadhav convicted of spying. Islamabad hit back accusing its rival of&nbsp;exaggerating the case&#39;s urgency, misusing the provisions of the Vienna Convention and claimed that Jadhav had himself confessed to spying for India.

Dismissing Pakistan&#39;s request for the Indian national&#39;s &quot;confession video&quot; to be played before the court, the ICJ said it would pass an order as soon as possible.

Vienna Convention provisions on consular access were not intended for a &quot;spy&quot; involved in terror activities, Pakistan told the ICJ which is hearing India&#39;s plea on the death sentence given to Kulbhushan Jadhav, a former naval officer who was arrested in March last year and sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court April 10 this year on charges of espionage and subversive activities in Balochistan.

India had been unable to provide an explanation for Jadhav&#39;s passport which bears a Muslim name, Mohammed Faisal of the Pakistan Foreign Office said in his opening remarks in response to India&#39;s submissions earlier in the day.

&quot;There has been deafening silence and no response from India on Pakistan&#39;s accusations on Jadhav,&quot; Pakistan Supreme Court lawyer Khawar Qureshi told the court.

Khawar Qureshi asked the court to dismiss India&#39;s application, saying there was no urgency as claimed by India since a period of 150 days had been provided to Kulbhushan Jadhav to seek clemency after he was sentenced to death on April 10 this year.

&quot;India has sought to persuade this court that Pakistan will execute Kulbhushan Jadhav within days. A period of 150 days is provided which even if it started on April 10, 2017, could well extend beyond August 10, 2017,&quot; the counsel for Pakistan told the court.

&quot;India generated a sense of urgency, improperly invoked the jurisdiction of the court on the basis of imminence, it wants provisional measures on the basis of this urgency invoked. But six months is not urgent in anybody&#39;s book,&quot; Qureshi told the court.

Pakistan also alleged that India had not responded to clarifications regarding Kulbhushan Jadhav&#39;s bank account details.

It said India had no grounds for relief since the ICJ was not a criminal court of appeal.

Expressing the fear that Jadhav, 46, might be executed before the hearing was over, India accused Pakistan of violating the Vienna convention and conducting a &quot;farcical trial&quot; without a &quot;shred of evidence&quot;.

Pakistan had denied India its 16 requests for consular access, India&#39;s lead attorney Harish Salve said.

He was &quot;an innocent Indian national, who, incarcerated in Pakistan for more than a year on concocted charges, (has been) deprived of his rights and protection accorded under the Vienna Convention,&quot; Deepak Mittal, an official with India&#39;s ministry of external affairs, told the court in The Hague.

Mittal insisted Pakistan has failed to respond to all Indian demands for information about the case, snubbing requests for documents including the charge sheet, and has failed to provide Jadhav with consular access.

The urgent hearing comes after the ICJ last week stayed Jadhav&#39;s execution. India presented its argument over 90 minutes, Pakistan, which claims that Jadhav is an agent of

Kulbhushan Jadhav a spy, India has no case: Pakistan to ICJ

India today handed over to Pakistan an appeal by the mother of retired Indian Navy officer Kulbhushan Jadhav, sentenced to death by a military court, to the appellate court, initiating a process to get his conviction overturned.

The appeal on behalf of Jadhav was given to Pakistan&#39;s foreign secretary Tehmina Janjua by Indian high commissioner Gautam Bambawale, who also handed over a petition by Jadhav&#39;s mother seeking the Pakistan government&#39;s intervention for his release and expressing the desire to meet him.

As per the appeal system in Pakistan, a death row convict has to move an appellate court within 40 days of pronouncement of the verdict.

They have applied for necessary visa with the Pakistan High Commission in New Delhi,&quot; the ministry added.

It is the second time that Bambawale has met Janjua in connection with the naval officer&#39;s case.

On April 14, Bambawale had met with the Pakistan foreign secretary and expressed India&#39;s concern regarding the whereabouts and health condition of Jadhav. He had told media after his meeting that he had asked for a list of charges and an authentic copy of the verdict of the military tribunal against the retired officer to launch an appeal process against his conviction.

Jadhav was given death sentence by the Field General Court Martial earlier this month, evoking a sharp reaction in India which warned Pakistan of consequences and damage to bilateral ties if the &quot;pre-meditated murder&quot; was carried out.&nbsp;
