Dismissing reports of him seeking more money being the reason behind KKR&rsquo;s call, Iyer said &lsquo;lack of communication&rsquo; led to the fallout between them.</p>

<p>"Yes, obviously disappointed because when you don&rsquo;t have a certain line of communication and if you get to know things one week prior to the retention date, then obviously something is lacking over there. So I had to take a call. Whatever is written is supposed to happen," he added.</p>

IPL Mega Auction 2025: Final updated and full squads of all 10 franchises

<p>Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) CEO Venky Mysore has revealed the reason behind not retaining skipper Shreyas Iyer ahead of the mega auction. Mysore said that KKR was keen to retain Iyer but he wanted to 'test his market value' in the upcoming auction.</p>

<p>"Somewhere along the line, if that agreement doesn't happen because of factors like money or someone wants to test their value, then the decision is influenced.</p>

<p>"In this case, it so happened that he felt it was best, and we're always supportive of the players when it comes to going to the auction and testing their value," the CEO further said.</p>

<p>Ahead of the retention deadline, KKR retained Sunil Narine, Andre Russell, Rinku Singh, Varun Chakaravarthy, Ramandeep Singh and Harshit Rana.</p>

<p>KKR retained Rinku for INR 13 crore (around $1.6 million) and&nbsp;spent INR 12 crore each (approximately $1.5 million) for Narine, Russell and Chakravarthy. The two uncapped players were paid INR 4 crore each (about $500,000). In total, KKR spent INR 57 crore (a bit above $7 million) out of their total purse of INR 120 crore ($15 million).</p>

<p>The franchise, however, will be going in the auction with INR 51 crore (just above $6 million). This is because IPL deducts INR 69 crore (roughly $8.5 million) if four capped and two uncapped players are retained.</p>

<p>The league allots INR 18 crore (around $2 million) to the first and fourth capped pick, INR 14 crore (nearly $1.75 million) for the second capped player and INR 11 crore (about $1.3 million) to third capped player while the two uncapped players get $500,000.</p>

<p>IPL 2024 runners-up SRH's owner Kavya Maran, meanwhile, opined that&nbsp;her franchise's preference is for a mini-auction every year rather than having a mega auction altogether. In a statement, Maran said, "It takes a lot of time to build a squad and as discussed it also takes quite a bit of time and investment for the younger players to mature. It has taken Abhishek Sharma three years to become consistent with his performances. You would agree that there are many such examples in other teams too."</p>

<p>According to Cricbuzz, both Shah and Gambhir held talks on Monday and Tuesday and the BCCI chief wants the former World Cup winner&nbsp;to accept the proposal.</p>

I am content today, but we are still not the most successful IPL franchise. <p>Team balance led KKR to their third IPL title, and two players – Mitchell Starc and all-rounder Andre Russell, were vital in the&nbsp;team's&nbsp;success. While Russell was on the top of his game throughout, scoring 222 runs and picking 19 wickets, including three in the final, Starc upped the ante during the fag end of the tournament, picking 17 wickets in total.</p>

<p>Praising the duo for stepping up in the games that mattered the most, Iyer said,&nbsp;</p>

<p>"That [big games] is when all the big players stand up,"&nbsp;he said of Starc.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Gujarat Titans (GT) crashed out of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 after the match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) was abandoned without toss on Monday (May 13) evening. The points were shared between the two teams, meaning, KKR, who are currently top of the table, confirmed their place in the top two with 19 points to their name while having another game in their hand.&nbsp;The last two times KKR finished in the top two, they went on to win the IPL trophy (2012,&nbsp;2014).&nbsp;</p>

<p>Despite the cutoff time being 10:56 pm IST, the match could not go ahead as rain continued to batter the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. GT were supposed to take the field in their 'Lavender-coloured' second kit to keep their&nbsp;playoff hopes alive but the weather gods had other plans.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Sunil Narine has ruled out a comeback for his national team West Indies in the upcoming T20 World Cup. Narine, who is in sublime form in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) season, cleared his intentions of not coming out of retirement in a long post issued by KKR. The T20 WC is scheduled to be played in June later this year, right after the conclusion of IPL 2024.</p>

<p>"I'm truly flattered and humbled that my performances recently have moved many people to publicly express their wish for me to come out of retirement and play in the upcoming T20 World Cup," Narine wrote.</p>

"I have made peace with that decision and whilst I never wish to disappoint, that door is now closed and I will be supporting the guys who take the field in June for West Indies. In the seven innings, Narine has scored three fifty-plus scores, including his maiden T20 century which came against Rajasthan Royals on April 16. With 286 runs to his name, Narine is KKR's highest run-getter in the ongoing season. He has also chipped in with nine wickets (the most for KKR) in those games as well - taking at least one wicket in each match.
