Kirron Kher returns to TV as judge post blood cancer treatment

<p>Bollywood actress and Chandigarh MP Kirron Kher is reportedly suffering from a type of blood cancer and undergoing treatment for the same, according to her colleagues in Bhartiya Janata Party.&nbsp;<br />

On Wednesday, the Chandigarh BJP president Arun Sood addressed a press conference and said that the 68-year-old MP was on a recovery path. She had begun treatment for the disease last year.<br />
<br />
“She had suffered a broken left arm at her Chandigarh house on November 11 last year. After her medical tests at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER) in Chandigarh, she was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. The disease had spread to her left arm and right shoulder. For treatment she had to go to Mumbai on December 4,” said Sood.<br />
<br />
The actress was reportedly being treated in Mumbai's Kokilaben Hospital and the disease had receded from her arm and shoulder after months of treatment.&nbsp;<br />
<br />
“Even though she is recovering after her four-month treatment and no longer admitted at Kokilaben Hospital, Mumbai, she has to visit the hospital regularly for treatment," Sood added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The news was confirmed by her husband, actor Anupam Kher on Twitter on Thursday.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Election Commission on Saturday issued a show-cause notice to BJP's Chandigarh Lok Sabha candidate Kirron Kher for sharing a campaign video featuring children on Twitter.</p>

<p>Giving her 24 hours time to reply to the notice, the Office of District Nodal Officer said that it had received a complaint along with a video link in which children could be seen actively participating in election campaign shouting slogans like "Vote for Kirron Kher and Ab ki baar Modi Sarkar".</p>

<p>Varnika got home and recounted her ordeal on Facebook, where she wrote: &ldquo;Was almost kidnapped on a Chandigarh road last night. There were 2 guys inside the SUV, and they seemed to really be enjoying harassing a lone girl in the middle of the night. If this is what women deal with in one of the safer cities in the country, where are we going? I find it shocking, that in a place with cameras at every light and cops every 200 m, these boys thought they could either get into my car, or take me into theirs, just because they&rsquo;re from an influential background&hellip; I&rsquo;m also lucky, because I&rsquo;m not lying raped and murdered in a ditch somewhere.&rdquo;&nbsp;</p>

"I feel it might have been easier if they didn't have connections, but it's not over till it's over," she said. The young woman who was stalked through the streets of Chandigarh on Friday night has said that "If I don't win this (the case against the two men who stalked her), may be the next one will, may be one after that." "Whether or not we win this, I know it has raised awareness... If I don't win this, maybe the next one will, maybe one after that," ANI reported her as saying. "I feel it might have been easier if they didn't have connections, but it's not over till it's over," she said. "I haven't seen any failure on the part of police so far, they have been extremely helpful," she added. The young woman -- Varnika Kundu, she is a DJ, her father is an IAS officer -- was stalked (she was in her car) through the streets of Chandigarh by two men in an SUV. One of the men was allegedly Vikas Barala, the son of Haryana's BJP chief Subhash Barala. Varnika got home and recounted her ordeal on Facebook, where she wrote: “Was almost kidnapped on a Chandigarh road last night. There were 2 guys inside the SUV, and they seemed to really be enjoying harassing a lone girl in the middle of the night. If this is what women deal with in one of the safer cities in the country, where are we going? I find it shocking, that in a place with cameras at every light and cops every 200 m, these boys thought they could either get into my car, or take me into theirs, just because they’re from an influential background… I’m also lucky, because I’m not lying raped and murdered in a ditch somewhere.” She says the men who were following her tried to bully her and kept following her. Unko saza dilwaana meri responsibility hai," he added.(They know everything that they have done, it is my responsibility to get justice) Vikas's father Subhash has so far not commented on the case but Chandigarh BJP vice president Ramveer Bhatti did. He sparked a furore on Monday after he blamed Varnika for “staying out so late in the night”. “Such cases tend to occur and the probability is higher for girls being stalked if they are out at odd hours,” he said.
