The EV3 compact crossover will be Kia’s third electric model, after the EV6 and range-topping EV9, in the brand's new E-GMP-based BEV line-up. Since the concept was shown in the United States, the EV3 is expected to go on sale there (although not confirmed yet), and if this happens, it could get a starting price of about $32,000. Similarly, in the UK, Kia could aim for a sub-£30,000 price for the EV3’s entry-level models. During the unveiling of the EV3 Concept, Kia had outrightly stated that the production model’s styling would be more or less similar to the concept. And based on the teasers, it seems to be true. The boxy front & rear design, along with the signature Star Map-design lighting, looks very similar to the EV3 Concept. It’s safe to say that the EV3 might look like a shrunken-down EV9. The addition of standard car bits like door handles, more practical side mirrors, and a slightly altered wheel design, are expected to be some of the main changes between the two versions. However, since we’ve already seen the concept’s minimalist interior, it is likely to be carried over, only with the addition of a few control knobs and general switchgear. Like the larger EV6 and EV9 models, the EV3 is also based on the Hyundai Motor Group’s E-GMP platform. But since the EV3 is aimed at the affordable end of the spectrum, it certainly won’t use the 800V architecture of the other two. Instead, it will make use of the more cost-effective 400V set-up, its downside being a relatively longer charging time. Reports also suggest that the EV3 will sit alongside the Niro EV in Kia’s BEV line-up, and could also be a replacement for the Soul EV. All doubts and queries will be answered on May 23rd when the EV3 makes its global debut. It will go on sale later this year.

The company made the announcement in a statement and said that they are voluntarily recalling a total of 30,297 units of the model manufactured between September 2022 and February 2023.&nbsp;

In a statement, Kia India said, “As a responsible corporate, the company conducts regular checks and rigorous testing of components, governed by Kia’s global standard.” It added, “The company has initiated the recall campaign for vehicle inspection and, if required, a free-of-cost software update.”&nbsp;

The recall campaign for 30,297 units of MPV Carens has been initiated to “inspect any potential error in the cluster booting process that may cause the cluster to go blank,” the automaker said. Furthermore, it said that during this recall campaign, the company will take utmost care to minimise inconvenience to customers.&nbsp;

The statement also said that the customers of the affected vehicles would be required to contact their respective company-authorised dealers to schedule an appointment.&nbsp;

Late last year, Kia India also announced a voluntary recall campaign of more than 44,000 units of the MPV to fix a potential error in Air Bag Control Module (ACU) software. At the time, the South Korean company had also assured that if found the potential issue would be fixed free of cost. &nbsp;

This reprehensible behaviour has resulted in a backlash in India, with many advocating for a boycott of Korean goods using various hashtags on social media.

Hyundai India said in a statement that it has been committed to the Indian market for over 25 years.&nbsp;

"Hyundai Motor India has been committed to the Indian market for more than 25 years now and we stand firmly for our strong ethos of respecting nationalism," it said.

South Korean automaker Kia Motors has decided to name its mid-sized SUV, which will be launched in India, the Seltos. The name is inspired by Greek mythology and the legend of 'Celtos' - the son of Hercules.

The company said that it has replaced C with S as the car exhibits speed, sportiness and strength.

"Seltos is all set to redefine the mid-SUV car segment with its eye-catching looks, exclusive segment first features and athletic design. We have spent a lot of time in perfecting our car to suit the taste of the Indian customers and I am glad that this originally India intended car is so perfect that it compelled us to make Seltos available globally. The car looks absolutely stunning and very closely matches the SP concept we showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo. I am confident that Kia Seltos would be an outright favourite when it hits the roads in the next few months," said Manohar Bhat, Head, Marketing and Sales, Kia Motors India.

Kia Seltos is all set to have its world premier in India on June 20 and will be launched in the second half of 2019. It will be made for the world at the company's facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

The Seltos exterior will have distinctive details such as long hood, a strong character line on the front bumper and sharp lines pressed into the bodywork. The cabin, meanwhile, will be characterised by broad, sweeping lines and sophisticated detailing.

The Seltos will come equipped with a range of connected technologies to maximise convenience, comfort and ease of use.

Kia Motors signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Andhra Pradesh government in April, 2017, to build a new manufacturing facility in Anantapur district. The manufacturing facility is expected to begin production in the second half of 2019 and produce approximately 300,000 units per year.
