<p>On Thursday, the district magistrates of Nainital and Udham Singh Nagar imposed a ban on the screening of the film, citing that it would disrupt law and order. They decided to go ahead with this, to protect peace and order in the state. It was speculated that the protesters might disrupt peace if the movie was screened in the theatres.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to a PTI report, the state government held a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat late in the evening after submission of a report by the committee headed by Tourism minister Satpal Maharaj to examine the objections to the film and decided not to declare an official ban on it. They left the final decision on the district magistrates whether or not to allow the screening of the movie depending on the situation in their respective areas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Earlier, the Uttarakhand High Court refused to interfere in the matter rejecting a PIL seeking a ban on the film.</p>

<p>The issue began after the trailer of the film was released and it was established that in the backdrop of 2013 Uttarakhand floods, a love story between a Muslim boy and Hindu girl has been made.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The film is jointly produced by Abhishek Kapoor and Ronnie Screwvala.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL seeking a ban on the release of film ‘Kedarnath’ by calling the act as a "publicity stunt" by the petitioner.</p>

<p>The PIL stated that the film <a href="http://www.wionews.com/entertainment/kedarnath-priests-demand-ban-on-sushant-singh-rajput-sara-ali-khan-film-claim-it-promotes-love-jihad-175779">hurt the "religious sentiments" of Hindus</a>. <p>A division bench of acting Chief Justice A S Dave and Justice Biren Vaishnav dismissed the PIL and also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on him.</p>

<p>Directed by Abhishek Kapoor, the film stars Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan as a couple in love. This film marks the debut of Saif Ali Khan’s daughter, Sara. The film is slated to release on December 7.</p>

The Gujarat High Court on Wednesday dismissed a PIL seeking a ban on the release of film ‘Kedarnath’ by calling the act as a "publicity stunt" by the petitioner. The PIL stated that the film hurt the "religious sentiments" of Hindus. <p>Ajendra Ajay, who is part of BJP's media relations team in Uttarakhand, wrote to Central Board of Film Certification Chairman Prasoon Joshi that despite being set against the backdrop of one of the worst human tragedies, the film directed by Abhishek Kapoor makes fun of Hindu sentiments.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Taking exception to a kissing scene between lead pair Sushant Singh Rajput and Sara Ali Khan featured in the film's teaser and a tagline in its poster reading 'Love is a Pilgrimage', the BJP leader alleged that it was an attack on the Hindu religion as Kedarnath represents the faith of crores of Hindus. "By setting a romantic love story against the backdrop of a huge tragedy that occurred at Kedarnath, a centre of faith for crores of Hindus, the filmmakers have shown great disrespect to the followers of the religion," Ajay told a news agency.</p>

<p>Objecting to the film depicting the love story of a Muslim porter and a Hindu pilgrim, Ajay said "couldn't the makers of the film find a Hindu character for the lead? " &nbsp; &nbsp;</p>

<p>Accusing the film of promoting love jihad, the BJP leader said acute resentment prevailed among <em>teertha</em><em> </em>purohits for projecting Kedarnath in such a flippant manner.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Warning of large-scale protests in the state if the film was released, Ajay urged the CBFC chairman to impose a ban on the movie produced by Ronnie Screwwala and Pragya Kapoor.&nbsp;</p>

<p>'Kedarnath' marks Saif Ali Khan and Amrita Singh's daughter Sara's debut in Bollywood. The film is a love story set in the backdrop of the devastating flash floods that took place in Uttarakhand in 2013.&nbsp;</p>
