But the trial judge, U.S. District Judge Christina Snyder, set aside that verdict the following March, saying Perry did not infringe any independently protectable musical elements.<br />

In her initial filing in September, Katy said: “I do not know him. He is a complete stranger who trespassed on my property, is stalking me, and who threatened my family.”</p>

<p>The singer listed the last date of harassment as September 8, when she alleged William “jumped the fence of my home in the Beverly Hills area”. She added: “Security ordered [William] to leave. When he refused, he was placed under citizen’s arrest and then formally arrested for criminal trespass by the LAPD.”</p>

<p>The man allegedly told Katy’s security he intended to enter the home, and the singer also accused him of making threats on social media.</p>

<p>She explained: “William has made threats on Twitter including that he wants to ‘snap Orlando Bloom’s neck’ as well as lewd posts about me. He has entered my property and poses a violent threat to all of us.”</p>

<p>The singer also expressed her fear of weapons that the stalker might possess and harm her and her family.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She said: “I do now know if this person owns or possesses any firearms or other weapons. I have great fear that he does or may have access to weapons. I am in immediate fear for my own safety, that of my partner, my newborn child, our family, and friends.”</p>

<p>Pop-icon Katy Perry is trying to create memories for a lifetime while celebrating her 35th birthday with her fiancee and actor Orlando Bloom in Egypt. The two shared pictures from their recent trip on Instagram Thursday, which included their rare PDA as well.<br />

"Ancient Egyptians believed that when you pass on your heart had to be weighed," Perry captioned pictures depicting herself standing before the Pyramids of Giza ". It had to be lighter than a feather to be qualified for the trip to the afterlife. My mother has called me feather since I was a little girl and I hope after all is said and done my heart is as light as one. This is 35 ".</p>

In almost a week-long trial in July, a California jury found Perry and collaborators guilty of stealing Christian rapper Marcus Gray popularly known as Flame's song 'Joyful Noise', and thus made them liable to pay USD 2.78 million in damages.<br />

According to the appeal filed on Wednesday, as cited by a news agency, they are asking the jury to either overturn or grant a new trial on "the legally unsupportable jury verdicts in this music copyright infringement case that are widely recognised within the music industry and beyond as a grave miscarriage of justice".<br />
<br />
"The erroneous verdicts in this case and the precedent established thereby present serious harm to music creators and to the music industry as a whole," the appeal added.<br />
<br />
In their appeal, the defendants maintained that nearly all the original plays for 'Joyful Noise'&nbsp;were in religious venues and suggested that the original song may not have sold a single verifiable copy.<br />
<br />
"Plaintiffs did not offer proof of one single digital or brick-and-mortar sale of&nbsp; 'Joyful Noise'&nbsp;or (the album) 'Our World Redeemed'&nbsp;and admitted that they have no such evidence," they wrote in the appeal.<br />
<br />
Perry added that the plaintiffs presented no evidence of any sales or any 'documentary evidence'&nbsp;of their song. Along with Perry, those liable to pay damages are Capitol Records, Warner Bros. Music Corporation, Kobalt Publishing, and Kasz Money, along with producers and songwriters Dr&nbsp;Luke, Max Martin, Cirkut, Sarah Hudson and Juicy J.&nbsp;</p>
