The 23-year-old suspect named Arlder Israel Amoyal was detained in November over the suspicions that he was “committing security offences related to contact with intelligence officials of the Iranian regime and carrying out security missions in Israel under their direction, for financial gain,” the Shin Bet security agency said.&nbsp;

Amoyal had connected with Iranian intelligence elements since October via social media. The officials said he was in contact with a profile under the name "Arianna" which later changed the name to "John".&nbsp;

The suspect took photos of a paper with the words "Making Peace" written on it. He further graffitied the word "Sinwar" in Tel Aviv and also took photos of several houses in Netanya and Jerusalem.&nbsp;

He even purchased a GoPro camera to film his actions and used it to send the footage to his handler "John".&nbsp;

Amnoyal further worked to recruit others to carry out missions for Iran. He specifically chose people with prior criminal records.&nbsp;

Shin Bet said Amoyal suggested to "John" to set fire to a police cruiser. He also suggested shutting down power to the Jerusalem light rail.

Stone deals acted like an ID in ancient times. This one was worn by a man who held a senior position in the holy city some 2,700 years ago.&nbsp;

Never before in Jerusalem has a seal with a 'genie' or 'demon' been found before. An inscription in the Paleo-Hebrew script on either side of the seal reads "LeYehoʼezer ben Hoshʼayahu." These are both names mentioned in the Bible - Yehoʼezer' and 'Hoshʼayahu'.

The former refers to Yehoʼezer, used in the Bible as "Yoʼezer," the name of one of the warriors of King David who ruled Israel at the time.&nbsp;

The book of Jeremiah carries the second name ʼAzariah ben Hoshʼaya,' a parallel version of the name 'Hoshʼayahu'.&nbsp;

Ronny Reich from the University of Haifa, a research partner, said in a press release, "It is not impossible that perhaps it was Yehoʼezer himself who engraved the names on the object."

The seal also proves that Jerusalem had a multi-national culture, something the Bible also talks about. The Assyrian Empire ruled Jerusalem during the first temple period. The seal bears its mark in the form of a winged figure. Notably, the press release states that winged demons are known to be a part of the Neo-Assyrian art of the 9th-7th Centuries BCE.&nbsp;

The seal was found near the Southern Wall of Temple Mount in the City of David National Park. There is a hole drilled through the piece, hinting at the possibility that it was worn on a string.&nbsp;

The design of the seal shows that an extremely high artistic level was needed to produce the piece. Researchers concluded that it was likely worn as an amulet by an official named Hoshʼayahu who was part of the Kingdom of Judah's administration.&nbsp;

Using a demon for personal identification likely "attests to his feeling that he belonged to the broader cultural context," excavation director Yuval Baruch said.&nbsp;

"This is an extremely rare and unusual discovery," said IAA Archeologist and Assyriologist Filip Vukosavovic.

"The seal, made of black stone, is one of the most beautiful ever discovered in excavations in ancient Jerusalem," the researchers said.

They explain that the two parts of the biblical first name are written in reverse order to the seal owner's name. The second name appears in its abbreviated form on the seal.

Therefore, the writing form matches the name inscribed on the seal and offers offering evidence that it was made during the first temple period.

They added that after Hoshʼayahu's death, his son Yehoʼezer inherited the seal and carved their names on either side of the demon engraved on it.

The quarry came to light during excavations being done in the region before building a commercial complex. The statement added that the quarry site will be integrated with the new complex.&nbsp;

LiveScience reported Amos Frumkin, professor emeritus at the Institute of Earth Sciences at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, as saying that the discovery "provides valuable insights into the scale of construction activities in Jerusalem during its peak period".

Researchers have found evidence of a Biblical battle that took place some 2,700 years ago in Jerusalem. An entire archaeological site was discovered in Jerusalem, as per a report by Daily Mail, that provides clues of a battleground between God’s army and Assyrian soldiers.

As per the Bible, an angel of the Lord descended on the invading Assyrian troops when they tried to capture the Holy Land and killed about 185,000 soldiers in a single night.

The Assyrian Empire reigned from 1,365 to 609 BC. The King Sennacherib of the empire led a campaign to control all routes across the Syrian Desert that led to the Mediterranean Sea. The carvings on the walls of Sennacherib’s palace depict the conquest of Lachish, a city 42 miles south of Jerusalem. The palace also has an illustration of a military base floor plan inscribed on its walls.

These ancient engravings were scrutinised by archaeologist Stephen Compton who cross-reference the engravings with aerial photos of the alleged historical area. The site is identified in Israel’s Ammunition Hill area whose map was matched up with the ancient story.

“This appears to be the site of Sennacherib’s camp from the siege of Jerusalem, which was featured in the three books of the Bible,” Compton wrote in a June 4 press release.

The carvings pointed to ruins of a perimeter wall and buried pottery shards revealed to be at least roughly 2,600 years old, as per Compton’s analysis. The site is now believed to have been abandoned after Sennacherib’s invasion.

Researchers are keen to discover similar military bases and other ancient cities destroyed by the Assyrian Empire, using the same methods.

“In some cases, it has also been possible to use the newly discovered camps to locate the sites of ancient cities that were known to have been besieged by the Assyrians but whose locations were unknown or uncertain,” Compton said.

Three Biblical scriptures tell the story of God’s victory over the Assyrians in Jerusalem: Isaiah, 37:36-38; 2 Kings, 19:35; and 2 Chronicles, 32:21.

The story tells that Jerusalem’s ruler Hezekiah prayed to the Israelite deity Yahweh — who is believed to be a God among Christians, for protection and sent an angel to ambush soldiers as they slept. The incident was later confirmed by the Israel Police who said a Border Police officer was allegedly stabbed and was later rushed to the hospital.&nbsp;

Israel’s emergency services, Magen David Adom (MDA) said that they received the report around 12:32 pm (local time) about a “stabbing terror attack” in Sultan Suleiman Street near Herod’s Gate in Jerusalem and were treating a 30-year-old male for “stab wounds.”

Turkish citizen fatally shot by Israeli police after allegedly stabbing officer in Jerusalem's Old City

An 18-year-old Israeli hostage, who was held captive by Hamas for about 50 days, on Thursday (Apr 25) revealed that one of the captors of the Palestinian militant group proposed to her for marriage.

Noga Weiss was abducted from her home in Kibbutz Be'eri on October 7 when Hamas launched unprecedented attacks against Israel. She was released in a truce deal last year.

Noga, recalling the incident, said that the captor wanted to marry her and have kids.

“He gave me a ring on day 14 [in captivity], and I stayed with him until day 50,” The Times of Israel quoted Noga as saying.

“He told me, ‘Everyone will be released, but you will stay here with me and have my children’,” she recalled.

“I pretended to laugh so he wouldn’t shoot me in the head,” she further added.

However, Noga's mother Shiri, who was also abducted by the group on Oct 7, rejected the proposal and yelled at the captor until he understood.

Noga was with her parents at home in Kibbutz Be’eri when Hamas militants broke through Israel and held thousands of people hostage.

Her 56-year-old father Ilan left the house at around 7:15 am to join the kibbutz emergency squad. However, he was never heard from again and was later confirmed dead.

“They started shooting at the door, something like 40 shots until they managed to get in. We saw the conversations on WhatsApp and understood what was happening. People were writing that their house was on fire and then stopped answering,” Noga said.

Shiri instructed Noga to hide under the bed thinking that upon barging inside the room the terrorists would not notice the 18-year-old and instead shoot the mother.

“I went under the bed, and they came in and took her. After they took her outside, I heard gunshots. I thought she was murdered and not kidnapped,” Noga said.

Noga, however, reunited with her mother several days later.

Meanwhile, the United States along with 17 other countries released a joint statement calling on Hamas to release all the hostages so as to end the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.

"We call for the immediate release of all hostages held by Hamas in Gaza now for over 200 days," a statement by the countries said, in what a senior US official called an extraordinary display of unanimity.

"The fate of the hostages and the civilian population in Gaza who are protected under international law is of international concern," the statement added.

All the 18 countries that issued an appeal to Hamas have had their citizens held as captives by the Palestinian militant group for more than six months.
