He concluded that it is in New Delhi’s interest to create a favourable atmosphere for peace and reconciliation.

India, on the contrary, claims it wants only peaceful and neighbourly relations with Pakistan and reiterates that this can only be achieved if Pakistan stops creating hostility and terror.

Ties between the two nations have been tense for decades and are mostly defined by the conflict around Kashmir and Pakistani accusations of terrorism from India.

Pakistan has reportedly test-fired a short-range, indigenously developed rocket system, in a bid to boost its military ability. The Pakistani Army said the Fatah-II Guided Rocket System can defeat any missile defence system and is equipped with a state-of-the-art navigation system, unique trajectory, and manoeuvrable features.

Speaking to defence news outlet&nbsp;EurAsian Times, Umair Aslam, CEO of Global Defense Insight (an Islamabad-based security forum) and security analyst, said, “With the successful test of the Fatah-II, the Pakistani military has enhanced its capability to engage strategic targets, such as bridges and air defence units, located within a range of 400 kilometres. Utilising cutting-edge navigation and avionics technologies empowers the Fatah-II to achieve the best accuracy.”

He also said that the missile may challenge the supremacy of India's S-400 missile system, a claim that other experts have disputed.

For instance, defence&nbsp;analyst Patricia Marins expressed scepticism, pointing out the lack of information regarding the missile’s unique trajectory.

Pakistan Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the powerful military also congratulated the scientists and researchers behind the rocket system.

It’s not new for Islamabad to test-fire and showcase new weapons and capabilities in order to counter any threat from New Delhi.

The launch of the Fatah-II Guided Rocket System comes days after Indian Foreign Minister S Jaishankar stressed that India was committed to taking back Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

Iran and Pakistan released a joint statement on Wednesday (Apr 24) urging the United Nations Security Council to take stern action against Israel stating that the country had targeted neighbouring countries and foreign diplomatic facilities "illegally".

The development came following Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi's three-day visit to Pakistan amid an escalation of tensions in the Middle East.

"Recognising that the irresponsible act of the Israeli regime forces was a major escalation in an already volatile region, both sides called on the UN Security Council to prevent the Israeli regime from its adventurism in the region and its illegal acts attacking its neighbours...," Iran and Pakistan said in their joint statement released by Pakistan's foreign ministry.

Last week, explosions were reported in Iran's Isfahan, what Tehran said was an Israeli attack.&nbsp;

However, Iran said that it has no plans to retaliate against Israel.&nbsp;

The visit by Raisi was aimed at mending ties between neighbouring countries Iran and Pakistan where the Iranian President vowed to give a push to the trade between both countries by $10 billion a year.

"Both sides agreed to increase the volume of bilateral trade to 10 billion U.S. dollars in the next five years," Sharif's office said in a statement after a joint news briefing.

"They also agreed to cooperate in developing joint approaches to confront common challenges including the threat of terrorism," the statement said.

The Capitals: 'Angels' prevail in Islamabad but after historic blow to Pakistan Army

Imran Khan's wife Bushra Bibi, who was sentenced to 14 years in prison over the Toshakhana reference case, has now been moved to Bani Gala, which is the Islamabad residence of the former Pakistan prime minister declared as a sub-jail, according to Pakistani media reports.&nbsp;

Bibi surrendered before the accountability court in Rawalpindi's Adiala prison voluntarily. This is where the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) team took her into custody.&nbsp;

The Islamabad Chief Commissioner issued a statement declaring the residence of convict Bushra Bibi in Bani Gala as a sub-jail until further orders.

"The Chief Commissioner, Islamabad Capital Territory is pleased to declare the residence of convict Bushra Bibi (Residential Compound, Khan House Banigala, Mohra Noor, Islamabad) as Sub-Jail till further orders," stated the notification.

According to local media reports, stringent measures are in place to ensure security, with jail staff deployed inside and Bani Gala and Islamabad police officials stationed outside the residence.
