When the dispatcher asked whether anyone else was present to help, Gupta responded, “No, it's just both of us here...It's just me...I tried my best to get her out.” Pressed further about the child’s condition, she said, “No, she's at the bottom of the pool...She's not moving.” The dispatcher urged her repeatedly to attempt a rescue and asked about the pool’s depth. Gupta replied, "I think it's nine feet, I don't know how deep," adding, "Yeah, I'm trying," as emergency crews were dispatched.&nbsp;Officers arrived shortly afterward, and Gupta went to let them inside. Police were then heard retrieving the child from the water. According to investigators, Gupta initially estimated that her daughter may have been in the pool for about 20 minutes. However, the autopsy reportedly revealed no water in the child’s lungs or stomach, leading authorities to conclude she had died before entering the pool. He later told police he was unaware that his daughter had been taken to Florida.

Dr. Uma Madhusudana a doctor hailing from Mysuru and practicing at the South Windsor Hospital in Connecticut, US made it to the headlines across the globe on Tuesday after she was given a 100-car salute by Americans for her extraordinary service rendered during the COVID-19 outbreak.

The video of the applaud went viral on social media in no time that exhibited an entourage of people driving their cars. Dr. Uma could also be seen standing in her front yard and waving at the parade.&nbsp;

In an exclusive chat with WION, Dr. Uma spoke about her experiences as a frontline warrior fighting day in and out against the pandemic, shared her fears, and a message to all healthcare workers fighting the battle in India.&nbsp;

WION: In these times of stress and strife it was one of those visuals where humanity, reverence and gratitude all rolled into one which brought smiles to everyone who witnessed the video. What did you feel and what was going through your mind?

Dr. Uma: First of all I would like to thank the South Windsor town where I live who organised this for the frontline workers and I was fortunate to be one of them. It was really overwhelming, emotional and so much of gratitude, appreciation, love, and care for all of us and when this video went viral I was thinking why, but I did see that the same thing got replicated in one of the cities in India referring to this video and now I feel even more good about this.

WION: The kind and scale of toll COVID-19 has taken, can you sum up your experience as an expert and the message that you have for people in India which is getting into seemingly the most critical and serious phase now? 
&nbsp; 
Dr. Uma: The effects of COVID-19 has been far-reaching on many levels. It has jeopardized the nation's health, economy, everything. So I would say social distancing is the way to go to contain this disease and also to be abiding by the govt rules of social distancing, handwashing and not touching the face, wearing masks. All of this is very important so that we can together prevent the spread of this disease.&nbsp;

WION: Several frontline health workers would want to hear from you in India on how to cope and deal with this contagion and handle themselves and the patients under such stressful circumstances. Your message to them?

Dr. Uma: My message to the healthcare or the frontline workers would be that this is the stage that is filled with fear and anxiety but I feel we are the ones who are chosen to be in the frontline battle. Hence the most important thing is that we need to be confident about what we are doing. Protection is very important, so protect yourself with proper PPEs, handwashing, wearing masks and I would like to stress on emotional and mental health. Mental health is such a big component when we are going through this COVID-19 for all the frontline workers. For example, I work at Heart for Healthcare, we have a support system where we can call in since we can't express our feelings to our families, as they are stressed too for us going to work every day and returning. Hence we need a support system where we can share counselling, which may be a very big part at this point in time. Do exercises, yoga, watch TV, whatever you can de-stress with. It is very very important that we stay physically and mentally healthy to work as a team and come out strong.&nbsp;

It's not just about me, it's for all the frontline workers &nbsp;and it's a big shout out to all of them risking their lives on the frontline

A 23-year-old Indian-origin doctor, <a href="https://www.wionews.com/entertainment/indian-origin-doctor-bhasha-mukherjee-crowned-miss-england-240259">Bhasha Mukherjee recently was crowned as Miss England</a> after facing off competition from dozens of other models. She holds two different medical degrees, has an IQ of 146, making her officially a 'genius' and is fluent in five languages.

In an interview with WION, Bhasha said that it is very important to dream and then work hard towards it. She also said that she is proud of the fact that she represents two nationalities. Mukherjee was born in India. Her family relocated to the UK when she was nine is now heading to Miss World which is going to take place in December this year.&nbsp;

Here are some excerpts from the conversation.

WION- From being a medical degree holder to a beauty Pageant, how was the journey different?

Bhasha- It was an amazing feeling. I am a believer in God as there is a saying in Hindi "Upar vala jab bi deta hai, chappar phaad ke deta hai", &nbsp;which means When God gives, he gives in one go. That's how I feel at the moment. I graduated on July 19 with my medical degree this year and then won the pageant on August 1. All this came together. My graduation, my job and also Miss England. I am just very very grateful.&nbsp;

WION- What was going on in your mind at that moment?

Bhasha- When it happened I could not believe it. The competition was very tough. All the girls who had taken part had put in so much hard work. I was convinced that it was going to be somebody else. So when it happened, I thought that I had heard it wrong.&nbsp;

Then of course while being on the stage and receiving such an award, it wasn't feeling something real. I was missing my family and could not stop crying. I was making weird faces just to not cry. Tears were rolling down my eyes.&nbsp;

WION- How did the idea of going to such a platform come to you?

Bhasha- I have been doing modeling from seven years now and in the field of modeling I met a lot of people who are also connected with the pageant. I have participated in couple of pageants in the past as well. But they were small-scale. I did not have a very good experience with the beauty pageants and it took a lot convincing by the director of Miss Asian face of Miss England, which is a sister pageant of Miss England.&nbsp;

She took a whole year to convince me and in the meantime, I also won Miss Asian face of England. The purpose of that title was to encourage south Asian woman, from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Srilanka and other women of that heritage to participate in such an event and to give them the motivation and the confidence to go to such platforms as we are after all an ethnic minority in this country. A lot of south-Asian do not feel confident to participate in such events. This pageant was to increase the diversity of Miss England and I am very proud of the fact that I have won that title (Of Miss Asian Face).&nbsp;

So when this happened. It was a very big and massive deal for me to represent England, a country where I've got so much love and support. It shows that it is such a multicultural society. I got so much love from all the Indians who are living abroad and from all over the globe.&nbsp;

WION-What kind of response did you get from Indian and global diaspora after such a tremendous win? You are also headed for Miss World later this year. How are you preparing for it?

Bhasha- I feel proud to represent this country. However what blew my mind was the level of support and good wishes that I have been getting from Indians, South Asians and the people of Canada, the Middle East and from all over the globe. The best part was when I called up my grandmother who is now 90 years old in Kolkata soon after winning the crown. She found an article from a local Bengali newspaper and I think that shows how much my winning had become a matter of pride the Indians. An Indian woman to be crowned Miss England was making everyone proud. I am going to represent two nationalities at Miss World pageant and that is a win for two countries as well.

Yes, preparation for Miss World has already begun.I started working as a doctor which is a very demanding especially in the beginning years, &nbsp;it is very tough to get the time off work and working 40 hours in the week. I have studied my entire life to get this position and to help others. It was very difficult for me but I am representing a very good cause, beauty with a purpose to show that woman are so much capable of if they put their head to it. So I've learnt to balance multiple things.&nbsp;

WION- Any memory of your childhood days in India? 
 
Bhasha- My favorite childhood memory was with my grandparents which is very close to my heart. I learned so much from them in spiritual terms. I got special faith in God which helped me in staying grounded. So, my spiritual memories are my favorite childhood memories.

WION- One message that you would like to give to all the young women? 
 
Bhasha- I want to tell all the ladies out there that it is very important to dream because if we don't have the inception to dream, then there is no chance for the dream to ever come true. So do not ever stop dreaming and have a wildest of dream and then work towards it. It doesn't matter what your background is. The struggle is inevitable in whatever you do. You just need to work hard towards your dream and make it a point that you want to see yourself in that position one day. I promise you that you can make it happen.&nbsp;
