The new baggage rules come into effect from 2 February midnight. Spicejet Employee Slaps Cisf Video:&nbsp;An employee of airline carrier, SpiceJet, was arrested on Thursday (Jul 11) after she slapped a male assistant sub-inspector&nbsp;during an argument over security screening. The incident took place at the Jaipur Airport and was caught on CCTV camera as the footage immediately went viral on social media.&nbsp;

The company jumped into its employee's defence by accusing the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) officer of sexual harassment.&nbsp;

SpiceJet released a statement, calling the incident a "serious case of sexual harassment" while alleging that the officer used&nbsp;“inappropriate language” against its employee.

"Today, an unfortunate incident occurred at Jaipur Airport involving a SpiceJet female security staff member and a male CISF personnel,"&nbsp;read the statement.&nbsp;

"While escorting a catering vehicle at the steel gate, our female security staff member, who had a valid airport entry pass issued by the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS), India's civil aviation security regulator, was subjected to inappropriate and unacceptable language by the CISF personnel, including asking her to come and meet him after his duty hours at his home," it added.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, CISF officials have alleged that the SpiceJet employee, identified as Anuradha Rani, was stopped by&nbsp;assistant sub-inspector (ASI) Giriraj Prasad for not having valid permission to enter the airport through the gate other staff members were using to gain access around 4 am.&nbsp;

Anuradha was then asked to&nbsp;undergo screening&nbsp;for airline crew at a nearby entrance but no female CISF personnel was present there at the time. CISF added that the ASI called a female colleague to assist with the security check but the argument had already escalated by then which ended with the SpiceJet employee slapping the officer.&nbsp;

Later, a case was registered at the Airport Police Station following a complaint by the CISF which resulted in the arrest of the woman.&nbsp;

“The woman has been arrested and her statement is being taken. The woman has also lodged a complaint. We are verifying the facts following which appropriate action will be taken," said Deputy Commissioner&nbsp;of Police (DCP)&nbsp;Kavendra Singh.&nbsp;

Charan Singh, Coordination In-charge, Airport Authority of India, Jaipur, said the matter is under investigation.

"For Chennai Airport, on-time departures to 70 routes globally analysed by Cirium stand at 89.32 percent.The achievement "represents customer service quality and operational excellence," said the aviation analytics firm.&nbsp;

The other airports that featured in the Top10 list were from Japan, Europe etc.&nbsp;

This report comes at a time when the aviation industry is on the revival path and air travel is winning back passengers post pandemic turbulence.&nbsp;

Increased footfalls are forecast, and accordingly, airports and airlines are augmenting their facilities and services.&nbsp;

The most recent traffic figures for Chennai Airport indicate more than 80% recovery in domestic traffic, and is not far away from reaching pre-COVID levels.&nbsp;

Travellers hailed the announcement. Six more airports in the country, including Patna and Chennai, will do away with the practice of tagging and stamping domestic passengers&#39; hand baggage from June 1.

CISF Director General OP Singh told PTI that the new airports include Jaipur, Guwahati, Lucknow and Trivandrum, apart from Patna and Chennai.

&quot;We had run a trial at these six airports for a few weeks. After finding that an enhanced number of new gadgets, CCTVs and security paraphernalia has been put in place, the process of doing away with the tagging and stamping of domestic air passengers&#39; hand baggage will begin from June 1,&quot; the DG said.

The Central Industrial Security Force had first initiated this new system at seven airports of Delhi, Mumbai, Cochin, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Kolkata and Ahmedabad from April 1.

The force is tasked with guarding 59 civil airports in the country.

Singh said five more airports at Varanasi, Pune, Goa, Bhubaneswar and Vishakhapatnam would be next in line where the tagging and stamping of passengers&#39; hand baggage will be done away with in the coming days.

By having the stamped tags on the hand baggage, the security personnel used to be assured that no weapon or ammunition-like material enters the aircraft with the passenger and now with the deployment of smart cameras and repositioning of security paraphernalia at the six new airports, the same objective is being achieved.

The procedure remained a major irritant for passengers and they have made many complaints in this regard to airport authorities saying this system poses hassles for them as it consumes time and in case they forget to get it tagged, security personnel would ask them to go back and get it done.

The output roller trays at the six airports, which will initiate the new drill, have now been extended in order to provide more visual clarity to the security personnel on each and every bag even as they have been instructed to minutely go through the x-ray images before clearing the handbags.

A committee comprising officials of the CISF, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) and the airport operators has been recently constituted to smoothen the roll-out of this new protocol at all the 59 airports guarded by the paramilitary force.

This was done after a high-level meeting chaired by Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju and his counterpart in the civil aviation ministry, Jayant Sinha, in which the earlier BCAS order about stamping the hand baggage tags was stayed.

The meeting while staying an earlier BCAS order had sought a thorough review of the security apparatus before the new measure could be launched.

The CISF said it had sought modifications in the airport security for doing away with the hand baggage stamping and &quot;to make sure that passengers could not access bags containing restricted items which are segregated by

CISF personnel for checking (after X-ray scanning)&quot;.

DG Singh had said the new measure will enhance &quot;passenger experience and provide hassle-free security environment to them&quot; while travelling through the airports.
