The CCS has approved the purchase of 15 light LHCs for a price of Rs 3,887 crore (approx $30 billion).&nbsp;The government has prioritised indigenisation in defence manufacturing. The IAF will receive 10 of the 15 limited production helicopters, while the army will receive five. As per officials, it can land and take off from a height of 5,000 metres, carrying fuel and weapons.&nbsp;

Singh further added, "for a long time, there was a need for attack helicopters and during the 1999 Kargil war, its need was felt seriously. The LCH is a result of research and development for two decades and its induction into IAF is an important milestone in defence production," ANI reported.

Mentioning the Russia-Ukraine conflict, Rajnath said that the war between the two countries showed large weapons, which clearly showed that large weapon systems and platforms are unable to move quickly across the battlefield and become easy targets for the enemy. Singh said that national defence services are the government's first priority. Additionally, the defence minister, in full confidence, said that whenever anyone talks about superpowers, including military strength, India will be first.&nbsp;

The choppers were extensively tested in Ladakh and the desert region for military forces. In the past two or three years, the IAF has added a number of helicopters to its fleet, including the Chinooks, Apache attack helicopters, and now LCHs.

Now, under the project, the government is set to create a digital platform that will combine 16 ministries across different verticals so that infrastructure projects do not get entangled in bureaucratic mess and red tapism. Under the new portal, the private and government companies as well as investors will have a one-stop solution for the design and approval of projects while figuring out the costs without much difficulty. It is estimated that one in four infrastructure projects in India exceed their estimated budget while half of the projects get delayed. According to Amrit Lal Meena, special secretary of logistics in the ministry of commerce and industry, of the 1,300 projects, Gati Shakti’s portal currently oversees, almost 40 per cent were delayed due to issues related to land acquisition, forest, and environment clearances, resulting in cost overruns. “The mission is to implement projects without time overrun and cost overrun. Global companies choosing India as their manufacturing center is the objective.” said Meena regarding the objective of the new portal. As reported by WION, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman during the budget speech, earlier this year unveiled India at 100 plan while elaborating on PM Gati Shakti programme to accelerate growth. Muraleedharan will be on an official visit to Oman on October 3rd and 4th. This will be his second visit to the Sultanate, during which he will meet the foreign minister&nbsp;Sayyid Badr bin Hamad bin Hamood Albusaidi, and attend community receptions, among various key engagements. He last visited Oman in December 2020, in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It was launched in Singapore in May 2018, followed by Bhutan and the Maldives.

Oman hosts 650,000 Indians, who play a key role in the economic development of the country. Recently, Pankaj Khimji, who is an Omani of Indian origin, has been appointed adviser in the Omani ministry of commerce, industry, and investment promotion with the rank of vice minister, reportedly the first such appointment of an Indian-origin expat in a senior government position in the Gulf region.

China has been miffed with the development and has been terming it a violation of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT). It even criticised the role of the IAEA for its stance on the issue.&nbsp;

Sources close to the matter said, "India's deft and impactful diplomacy was deeply appreciated by IAEA member states, particularly the AUKUS partners." &nbsp;

Sources said that India took "an objective view.. recognising the soundness of the technical evaluation by IAEA", explaining, "India's considered role helped many smaller countries take a clear stand on the Chinese proposal".&nbsp;

India's external affairs minister Dr S Jaishankar will be travelling to Australia later this month. The visit will be the first such visit from Delhi since the new Albanese government took charge. Last month, Jaishankar met Australian foreign minister Penny Wong bilaterally and as part of the India-France-Australia, India-Australia-Indonesia foreign minister&nbsp;trilaterals.&nbsp;

During her United Nations General Assembly speech, minister Wong called for United Nations Security Council (UNSC) reforms, backing India's bid for a permanent seat at the table.&nbsp;

"It is why we seek reform of the Security Council, with greater permanent representation for the Africa, Latin America, and Asia, including India and Japan," she said. &nbsp;

Since the new government came in Australia, both PM Narendra Modi and PM Anthony Albanese have met on the sidelines of the Quad in-person meeting in Tokyo which was followed by the visit of Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister Richard Marles.

Interestingly, during the India visit, Richard flew aboard the Indian Navy's P8i becoming the first minister from a foreign country to do so. P8i is a maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft.

The visit comes in the backdrop of India's thwarting China's attempt to pass an anti-Aukus resolution at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) meet in Vienna. The Aukus pact was signed between Australia, United Kingdom and United States last year under which Canberra gets nuclear-powered submarines.
