Overall, it is the 11th highest maximum temperature recorded in Srinagar in July. The city witnessed the highest maximum temperature of&nbsp;38.3&nbsp;degrees Celsius&nbsp;recorded on&nbsp;July 10, 1946.

"Yesterday's temperature was 35.6 degrees and it was the highest temperature since 1999 when the temperature was 37.0 degrees, and it is also the 11th highest temperature recorded ever in the month of July in Srinagar. And it's not only Srinagar but also the higher reaches like Kokernag which recorded the all-time highest temperature. For Qazigund station and Gulmarg which also broke its decade-old record, a similar heat wave was also seen in north plains and south Kashmir as well,"&nbsp;said Faizan Arif, Weather Analyst and Forecaster.

Tourists landing in the Kashmir Valley from&nbsp;other North Indian states like Himachal&nbsp;and Uttarakhand are highly disappointed with&nbsp;heat&nbsp;waves&nbsp;not sparing these higher reaches as well.&nbsp;

"This is very hot, it's around 35-36 and in UP it's 41, not much of a difference. I did not expect this hot weather at all, we thought it would be pleasant and we would do a lot of adventure activities. We are staying inside the hotel all day and not venturing out due to heat. I am travelling with thermals, jackets and sweaters and we have not even opened it as we are feeling extremely hot here,"&nbsp;said Vishwa Gupta, a tourist from Uttar Pradesh.&nbsp;

The MeT has said that there is no hope of any respite from the&nbsp;heat&nbsp;in the next 48 hours. The weather does not only remain high in Srinagar city but also at tourist places on higher reaches like Pahalgam, Gulmarg, Sonamarg, Kokernag and Verinag.&nbsp;&nbsp;

The Shrine Board has said that 1,05,282 people have visited the holy shrine in the last five days since the yatra began, breaking all previous records. The same figure was crossed in the first ten days of the yatra in 2023. The 3,888-metre-high mountain cave temple of Lord Shiva is one of the most revered temples in Hinduism and is considered one of the "Dham" of the "Char Dham" pilgrimage.&nbsp;

A senior police officer, Shalabh Mathur, said, "Initial reports suggest that the closed enclosure of the tent led to suffocation, causing discomfort and panic among attendees."&nbsp;

A large group of devotees surged towards the preacher when he descended from the stage, officials said, further adding that they just wanted to touch him. Some reports even claimed that people were trying to collect soil from around his feet. The rush led to chaos as volunteers struggled to intervene.&nbsp;

The autopsies carried out at a government hospital in Agra have revealed that blood accumulation in the thoracic cavity due to chest injuries, asphyxia and rib injuries were the leading causes of death.&nbsp;

An early police report said that thousands of people reportedly rushed towards the exits at that point, and a preliminary report by the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) said that the chaos was caused after the followers of preacher, Narayan Sakaar Hari, were pushed by his security personnel. Many people fell and were crushed by the masses, with the slippery, muddy ground after rains making the situation even worse.&nbsp;

The SDM, who gave permission for the 'Satsang' (religious congregation), was also present at the venue when the incident occurred, according to the preliminary report, which was submitted by Sikandra Rau SDM to the district magistrate (DM).&nbsp;

"A crowd of more than 2 lakh people was present in the satsang pandal. Shri Narayan Saakaar Hari (Bhole Baba) reached the Satsang pandal at about 12.30 pm and the programme went on for 1 hour," the report said.&nbsp;

The Indian national Abdul Rahim, aged 44, has been been imprisoned in Saudi Arabia for the past 18 years in a case relating to the accidental death of his sponsor’s paralysed son in 2006.

According to reports, the victim's family accepted Rahim’s apology and informed the court of their decision to grant him amnesty.

Earlier, a ‘Blood Money’ of ₹34 crore ($40,72,343) — raised through crowdfunding — was handed over to the victim’s family.&nbsp;

The full court order is expected to be released soon.&nbsp;
