During a joint press conference, India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishnakar on Monday (October 10) declined to disclose India's stand on the upcoming draft resolution against Russia in the UN General Assembly.&nbsp;

He said, "As a matter of prudence and policy, we don't predict our votes in advance." He continues, "We have been very clearly against the conflict in Ukraine," PTI reported.

Jaishankar further added, " We believe that this conflict does not serve the interests of anybody neither the participants nor indeed of the international community. And as a country of the Global South, we have been seeing first-hand how much it has impacted low-income countries, the challenges that they are facing in terms of fuel and food and fertilisers."

The foreign minister said he agreed with what the Indian Prime Minister said at the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation summit: that this is not the time for a war as it will affect everyone.

India till now hasn't condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine but has requested to solve the conflict through the matter of diplomacy and dialogue.&nbsp;Earlier this month, a draught resolution was presented to the UNSC to call for an immediate end to the violence while also stressing finding a resolution.

The diplomats said that the UN General Assembly is yet to decide on a draft resolution on Tuesday or Wednesday.&nbsp;

Russia-Ukraine has entered its seventh month. Till now the war has claimed the lives of thousands of people, forcing million to flee.&nbsp;

Several foreign countries have sent military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine and collectively showed their disagreement against Russia bypassing sanctions. Russia being the target has still not reversed its actions.&nbsp;

There were at least 240 Indians onboard the flight. Air India had announced that it would operate three flights between India and Ukraine on February 22, 24 and 26.

The students who were mostly studying medicine landed at Delhi airport. They were received by their parents after an anxious wait at the arrival lounge.

Minister of state for external affairs V Muraleedharan in a tweet said Indians and students belonging to various states are returning from Ukraine to Delhi.

India on Monday called for "diplomatic dialogue" during a fiery meeting on the Ukraine crisis at the United Nations Security Council(UNSC).

Indian envoy to United Nations T S Tirumurti in the statement at the high table said," I reiterate our call for the peaceful resolution of the situation by sincere and sustained diplomatic efforts to ensure that concerns of all sides are resolved through constructive dialogue".&nbsp;

Ahead of the meeting,&nbsp;Russia called for a procedural vote on holding the US-initiated meet.&nbsp;India, along with Gabon and Kenya abstained during the vote. Russia and China voted against holding of the meeting.

But the US bid to hold the meet was successful as it was able to get ten votes in all - US, France, UK, Brazil, Albania, Ghana, Norway, Mexico, UAE and Ireland. Nine&nbsp;votes were needed to hold the meeting.&nbsp;The Russian representative to the UN thanked countries who abstained and voted against holding the meet at the UNSC.

The meet comes even as Russia and the West&nbsp;led by the United States have been on the brink over Ukraine.

Russia has amassed troops at the border with Ukraine&nbsp;with the West worried over a possible invasion, something Moscow has dismissed.

The Indian envoy said, "India’s interest is in finding a solution that can provide for immediate de-escalation of tensions taking into account the legitimate security interests of all countries" and "aimed towards securing long term peace and stability in the region and beyond."&nbsp;

Russia wants security guarantees from the West, including promises that Ukraine will not&nbsp;join&nbsp;the NATO alliance.

A&nbsp;number of rounds of talks have taken place between Russia and US over the crisis, including the one between US Secretary of state Blinken and Russian foreign minister Sergey Lavrov.&nbsp;

The Indian envoy called for "quiet and constructive diplomacy" and to avoid "any steps that increase tension" while welcoming efforts under the Minsk agreement and the Normandy Format.

The Minsk pact came into being in 2014 between Russia, Ukraine and Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE) and calls for a ceasefire in eastern Ukraine while giving autonomy to the Russian speaking areas.

The Normandy Format&nbsp;which has Germany, Russia, Ukraine and France as the key components&nbsp;played a key role in drafting the Minsk agreement.

The meeting, the envoy&nbsp;Tirumurti&nbsp;highlighted involved "well&nbsp;being of Indian nationals is of priority to us".&nbsp;More than 20,000&nbsp;Indian students and nationals live and study in different parts of Ukraine, including in its border areas. The Indian mission in Kyiv has started to collect data on the number of Indian nationals in&nbsp;the country.&nbsp;

The envoy also confirmed that New Delhi has been in "touch with all concerned parties".&nbsp;

January saw US Deputy Secretary of State Wendy Sherman calling Indian foreign secretary Harsh Shringla to brief hin on the issue.

Meanwhile, three&nbsp;Indo-Russia conversations have taken place in the same month. These talks include Russia's deputy FM Sergei Ryabkov meeting Indian envoy to Russia Pavan Kapoor, Russia's deputy FM Sergey Vershinin calling Indian envoy Kapoor and Vershinin's Delhi visit to hold talks with secretary west Reenat Sandhu. Russia becomes the president of the UNSC in February.
