The sons of former Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan, Sulaiman and Kasim Khan, have criticised the British government over what they describe as an inadequate response to their father’s imprisonment. In a new interview with The Telegraph, the brothers said they were disappointed by the assistance offered when they considered travelling to Pakistan to see their father.

The brothers said former British Foreign Secretary David Lammy advised them against travelling to Pakistan and warned that the UK government would not be able to support them if they were arrested or detained. Lammy served as foreign secretary from July 2024 to September 2025.

Sulaiman and Kasim said they believe Britain could have applied greater pressure on Pakistan, pointing to international concerns over Imran Khan’s detention. The brothers have also been unable to see their father in person for years, while their attempts to secure visas to travel to Pakistan have reportedly faced repeated rejection on technical grounds.

The controversy comes as concerns over Imran Khan’s prison conditions and access to medical care continue to draw international attention. The brothers have repeatedly called for greater action to ensure they can meet their father.

SKY Snubs PCB’s Threat
Suleiman and Kasim, former Pakistan captain and Prime Minister’s sons, expressed concerns over the treatment and security of their father, who has been behind bars since 2023. After Michael Atherton, ex-England captain, conducted the interview, several media outlets reported that SKY received a complaint from the PCB about its plan to broadcast that. With the PCB threatening that its players would not take the field after lunch on opening day, SKY reportedly took advice from the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office about airing the interview. Despite PCB's threat, SKY aired that interview, and Pakistani players also took the field after lunch on day one. Moreover, public broadcaster PTV, using SKY’s feed, is airing the Test series in Pakistan; however, the channel did not telecast the interview, and instead ran commercials during that segment. Meanwhile, Pakistan continue to struggle massively in the second Test at Lord’s. After conceding 290 in the first innings, Pakistan suffered another batting collapse, getting all out on 110 in their reply. England concluded day two on 81 for three, leading by 261 runs. With three days of cricket left, the hosts sit in the driver’s seat and look poised to win the match and the three-match series.
