<p>Former Pakistan prime minister Imran Khan has threatened to reveal the name of a second military officer who he alleged had monitored the assassination attempt on him from a "control room" along with Major General Faisal Naseer. Khan was shot in the leg by a gunman during his anti-government rally in the Wazirabad area of Punjab province last Thursday.</p>

<p>Khan has alleged that Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, interior minister Rana Sanaullah and Major General Naseer were involved in the bid on his life. He tweeted that he will reveal the name of another officer who was with Naseer in the control room from 12 pm to 5 pm. Naseer is the chief of the counterintelligence wing of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).</p>

<p>“I will also disclose the name of the second officer who was sitting with Maj General Faisal in the control room from around 12 noon to 5 pm monitoring the execution of the plot (on Nov 3),” Khan tweeted.</p>

<p>Khan compared the attack on him with the killing of former Punjab governor Salman Taseer in 2011 by a religious extremist.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“I had found about the assassination plot hatched against me almost two months ago and had&nbsp;exposed it in public rallies in RYK (Rahim Yar Khan) on September 24 &amp; Mianwali on October 7. Wazirabad assassination attempt followed the script," Khan said.</p>

<p>An FIR was lodged by the Punjab police after being directed by the Supreme Court to do so within 24 hours of the order.&nbsp;The FIR was registered but it did not name the three whom Imran Khan had said were behind the attack. Earlier, the FIR wasn't being registered as Khan was not ready to drop the name of Naseer from it. This is when the Supreme Court intervened.</p>

<p>Khan underwent surgery for bullet injuries at the Shaukat Khanum Hospital and was discharged on Sunday. He is currently at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore and has been advised rest for four to six weeks.</p>

<p>The Pakistan Supreme Court has directed the Punjab inspector general to register an FIR with regards to the attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chief Imran Khan in Wazirabad within 24 hours. Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial remarked that in case the same is not done within the stipulated time, the apex court would take suo motu notice.&nbsp;</p>

<p>PTI’s Fawad Chaudhry hailed the decision and termed it “first step towards justice”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>On Sunday, Khan had alleged that an FIR was not being registered on the "assassination attempt" as authorities want him to first drop the name of an army general from the complaint. Khan is set to resume the march to Islamabad from the same spot where he survived the attack on him, saying he prefers "death instead of living the life of a slave".</p>

<p>The Punjab cabinet had also taken up by the matter Friday, which was attended by IGP Faisal Shahkar among other senior government officials and the provincial law minister.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Pervez Elahi had also held several meetings with PTI leaders on the matter of naming the army general in the complaint and tried to convince them to remove his name.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Imran Khan, and 14 others, were injured, while one person died, in the attack that happened last Thursday in the Punjab province while he was holding a long march against the government. The attacker, Naveed Mohammad Basheer, was arrested, with two others being held later for selling him the pistol and bullets.</p>

<p>In a televised address, Khan said he knew that something was going to happen beforehand.</p>

<p>“I had already learned that there was a plan in place to kill me somewhere between Wazirabad and Gujrat," Khan said.</p>

<p>"Four people plotted to kill me. I made a video and named those people and have stashed it abroad," he said.</p>
