The International Film Festival of India (IFFI) has started registering film enthusiasts for the virtual segment of the festival. 
 
The registration link for the virtual segment of the first hybrid of the film festival was shared by the Press Information Bureau (PIB) on Twitter on Monday.

The annual international film festival will comprise of both physical and virtual segments this year. The physical segment of the IFFI will be an eight-day-long event that will be held from January 16-24, 2021 in Goa.&nbsp;

Brazilian actor Wagner Moura who is best known for playing the notorious drug lord Pablo Escobar in Netflix show ‘Narcos’ is now headed to India to attend the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in November.&nbsp;

IFFI will screen close to 250 films from various countries and will run through November 20-28. This will be the 50th edition of the festival.&nbsp;

Wagner will be a part of the festival as he visits India for the first time to bring his directorial debut film ‘Marighella’ under debut competition category.&nbsp;

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh took to Twitter to announce the news as he wrote, “Wagner Moura - best known as #PabloEscobar in #Netflix series #Narcos - to grace the 50th edition of @IFFIGoa... Apart from presenting his film, the actor will also attend an In Conversation session, titled ‘The Magnificent Artist’ where he will talk about his journey as an actor and a filmmaker. He will interact with budding filmmakers in the session.&nbsp;

Wagner’s previous works include ‘Elite Squad’ films and ‘Elysium’.

This year, IFFI will be hosting an international jury for its Golden Jubilee edition. It will have names like the French filmmaker Robin Campillo who was also a member of the Cannes International Jury 2019, Chinese filmmaker Zhang Yang and Lynne Ramsay. John Bailey, cinematographer and former President of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences will chair the jury. Indian filmmaker Ramesh Sippy is also a juror.&nbsp;

'Narcos' star Warner Moura to attend International Film Festival of India in Goa

Started in 1952, the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) is one of the most prestigious film extravaganzas in the country. It aims at providing a common platform to cinema industries from across the world to showcase their excellence at the art of film making.&nbsp; 
 
This time, India will host the 50th edition of the festival and will pay tribute to the late Chief Minister of Goa, Manohar Parrikar who passed away earlier this year. 
 
"Definitely, this year the festival will pay a tribute to our friend Manohar Parrikar", said the Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javdekar on Sunday.&nbsp; 
 
Apart from this, the festival will also celebrate the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi through an exhibition titled, 'Gandhi 150'. 
 
The week-long event&nbsp;is scheduled to start in&nbsp;November and will be&nbsp;featuring&nbsp;Indian regional films&nbsp;as well as movies&nbsp;from different parts of the world.&nbsp; 
 
To ensure that every film gets an equal chance at the festival, private theatres in Goa will be hired to screen popular movies.&nbsp; 
 
"In the past, people did not get tickets to watch popular films, so we are enrolling private theatres to screen those films", Javadekar added. 
 
Javdekar, who was chairing the first meeting of the steering committee on Sunday also revealed that filmmaker Karan Johar, producer Siddharth Roy Kapoor, Feroz Abbas Khan and Subhash Ghai have already accepted their place in the steering committee.&nbsp; 
 
"They will steer the whole thing because it has to be a professional show",&nbsp;he&nbsp;told the media in Panaji.

Besides him, other members of the committee - directors Madhur Bhandarkar, Shaji N. Karun, Rahul Rawail and Manju Borah, famous cinematographer Apurba Kishore Bir and Ravi Kottarakara, the owner of Kottarakara Films - were also present at the meeting.&nbsp; 
 
Javdekar further informed that Director John Bailey, President of the Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) will be heading this year's prestigious international jury.&nbsp; 
 
To celebrate the festival's&nbsp;Golden Jubilee, road shows and campaigns will be organised in six&nbsp;different cities in the country namely, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Trivandrum, Bengaluru, Kolkata and Guwahati.

IFFI 2019: Prakash Javdekar reveals details about festival's upcoming 50th edition

&nbsp;48th International Film Festival of India is already courting controversy even before it has begun. The film festival, that takes place in Goa every year, has been in the news for some of the films that the I&amp;B Ministry has decided to drop from the final list of films that will be screened at the festival. The 13-member jury for the Indian Panorama section has alleged that the Sanal Sasidharan&rsquo;s Malayalam movie S Durga and Ravi Jadhav&rsquo;s Marathi film Nude were dropped from the final list without their knowledge. The panel&#39;s head, filmmaker Sujoy Ghosh has resigned from his post.&nbsp; 
 
Ghosh confirmed the news to <a href="http://indianexpress.com/article/entertainment/entertainment-others/iffi-days-after-two-films-dropped-from-fest-jury-chief-sujoy-ghosh-resigns-international-film-festival-s-durga-nude-4936373/">Indian Express</a> but refused to comment further on the issue. On November 9th, the I&amp;B Ministry announced the official list of &lsquo;feature&rsquo; and &lsquo;non-feature&rsquo; films for the Indian Panorama section of IFFI which did not feature S Durga and Nude. Following the announcement, a few members of the jury have criticised the Ministry&#39;s decision stating that they were not informed about the change. The Ministry has not responded yet.

The film highlights the reality of a misogynistic society and how a couple encounters various instances of it while on the run. Nude tells the story a nude model in an art school. Nude was earlier scheduled to open the festival but now it has been replaced by Hindi movie Pihu by Vinod Kapri.&nbsp;

Incidentally, S Durga was earlier titled&nbsp;Sexy Durga but the CBFC demanded 21 cuts in the film and gave a U/A certificate only after changing the title. The film was screened at MAMI in October this year.

Both films have been receiving praises from all quarters, In fact, writer Apurva Asrani, who is also part of the jury had praised the two films a few days back.
