<p>PTI reported that Bajrangi, a cow vigilante,&nbsp;was questioned in connection with a fresh FIR registered against him at Nuh's Sadar police station based on a complaint by Assistant Superintendent of Police Usha Kundu.</p>

<h2><strong>Bajrangi accused of wielding weapons during VHP procession</strong></h2>

<p>The FIR was registered against Bajrangi under Indian Penal Code sections 148 (riots), 149 (unlawful assembly), 323 (causing hurt), 353, 186 (obstructing a public servant from discharging duty), 395, 397 (armed robbery), and 506 (criminal intimidation) and provisions of the Arms Act, police said.</p>

<p>Press Trust of India reported that the order to extend the suspension was issued by Additional Chief Secretary (Home), T.V.S.N. Prasad, on Saturday evening. Earlier, the suspension of services was to extend till August 5.</p>

<p>"This order is extended to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of district Nuh and shall be in force up to 08.08.2023 (23:59 hrs)," it stated.</p>

<p>"It has been brought to my notice by the deputy commissioners of Nuh that the law-and-order situation has been reviewed and intimated that conditions are still critical and tense in their respective districts.</p>

<p>"After assessment of the current prevailing law-and-order situation as well as recommendation of the deputy commissioner, Nuh, I am of this view that there is a clear potential of disruption of public utilities, damage to public assets and amenities and disturbance of public law and order in district Nuh on account of misuse of internet services by way of spread of inflammatory material and false rumours, which are being or could be transmitted/circulated to the public through social media/messaging services on mobile internet services, SMS services and other dongle services," order stated.</p>

<p>In a separate order, the ACS (Home) said, "This order extended to prevent any disturbance of peace and public order in the jurisdiction of district Palwal, Haryana, and shall be in force up to 07.08.2023 (1700 hrs)."</p>

Haryana clashes: Suspension of internet in Nuh, Palwal extended

<p>In the wake of the communal flare-up in Nuh district of&nbsp; Haryana, authorities in the north Indian state have asked Muslims to offer Friday namaz prayers at their homes to avoid any untoward incident on August 4.</p>

<p>In the Gurugram district, police issued an advisory asking Muslims to avoid going to open spaces or mosques to offer prayers.</p>

<p>Certain areas in the state are reeling under communal violence since clashes broke out in Nuh on Monday (July 31). Since then, the violence has spilled over into adjoining areas. So far, six people, including two police staff, have lost their lives.</p>

<p>Haryana administration also removed the Superintendent of Police from Nuh, Varun Singla, and transferred him to the Bhiwani district. He was replaced by IPS Narendra Bijarniya, as reported by ANI.</p>

<h2><strong>Section 144 still in place</strong></h2>

<p>CrPC Section 144, which prohibits assembly of four or more people, was still in place in some areas, The Hindu newspaper reported citing a senior police official from Gurugram.</p>

<p>Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Gurugram) Siddhant Jain said, “We are constantly combing through social media for any inflammatory messages and have also asked people to avoid sharing any such content if they come across anything.”</p>

<h2><strong>Muslim clerics cooperating with authorities</strong></h2>

<p>Earlier on Thursday, a meeting was held between senior police officials from the Nuh district and leaders of the Muslim community.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Nuh Deputy Commissioner Prashant Panwar and Superintendent of Police Varun Singla sought cooperation from them to encourage their community members to not step out of their homes on Friday.</p>

<p>Some areas in adjoining states of Uttar Pradesh and Delhi were put on high alert on Friday. Although there are no restrictions on offering namaz in mosques in these states, police deployment has been beefed up to maintain law and order.</p>

<p>“We always have police presence near mosques and in sensitive areas on Fridays. We will strengthen our arrangements around 273 mosques in the district to ensure that no incident during or after the prayers takes place, and that everybody reaches home safely,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (North East) Joy Tirkey was quoted as saying by the Hindu.</p>

After days of clashes in North Indian state of Haryana, the situation was relatively calm on Thursday; no fresh violence was reported. However, police are probing cases of fire at two different places of worship.

<p>Haryana authorities in India have extended the internet ban in communal violence-hit areas of the state till August 5 “in order to maintain peace.”&nbsp;</p>

<p>“In order to maintain peace and public order, mobile internet services in the jurisdictions of Nuh, Faridabad and Palwal districts &amp; in the territorial jurisdiction of Sohna, Pataudi and Manesar sub-divisions of Gurugram district will remain suspended till August 5," the order read.</p>

<p>India Today reported 20 companies of central forces were already deployed in the state, whereas the state has further demanded four more companies from the union government as violence continued in Gurugram on Wednesday, taking the death toll to six.</p>

<h2><strong>Haryana forms social media committee&nbsp;</strong></h2>

<p>Meanwhile, Haryana has formed a three-member social media committee to monitor incendiary posts on X (formerly Twitter) and other major platforms.</p>

<p>Earlier, the state’s Home Minister Anil Vij had flagged the ‘important role’ played by such platforms in fuelling such riots and acts of violence.</p>

<p>In the wake of the violence in Haryana, three districts have been put on high alert in neighbouring Uttar Pradesh state. Saharanpur, Shamli and Muzaffarnagar are the three districts where an alert has been sounded.</p>

Nuh violence: Internet ban extended in certain areas, three UP districts on high alert

<p>Communal violence in Nuh district of India’s northern state of Haryana has set alarm bells ringing in neighbouring states and areas including Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, the National Capital Region (NCR) and Rajasthan. Clashes took place in Nuh district on Monday (July 31) followed by Gurugram on Tuesday. So far, at least five people have been killed.</p>

<p>Shops were set to fire in the Badshahpur area, which lies in NCR. Now, as the violence spreads, police in nearby states have pulled up their socks to avoid any untoward incidents in their areas.</p>

<h2><strong>Delhi on alert</strong></h2>

<p>In the Indian capital Delhi, police have increased patrolling, especially in those areas where mixed populations from both communities live. A senior police officer was quoted in the media as saying they were carefully monitoring developments in Haryana as it may have an impact on Delhi as well.</p>

<p>“Keeping North Delhi safe &amp; serene! Police deploys cutting-edge drone survey to watch over the area, ensuring harmony prevails and public safety remains top-notch,” Delhi police said in a post on X, earlier known as Twitter.</p>

<p>Police have also increased patrolling in some areas, where they are interacting with locals. They have erected barricades at border areas to better control and monitor the flow of traffic from nearby states.</p>

<p>In the wake of the violence in Haryana state, a key meeting or 'Mahapanchayat' has been convened for 11 AM Wednesday (August 2), where villagers and Vishwa Hindu Parishad, a right-wing nationalist group with links to the ruling Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP), are demanding arms licenses of&nbsp;men from a religious community be cancelled.</p>

<h2><strong>Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh on alert</strong></h2>

<p>Officials have suspended internet services in four Tehsils of Rajasthan state, namely Pahari, Kaman, Sikri and Nagar in the Mewat region of Bharatpur.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Meanwhile, police in Uttar Pradesh state have also intensified vigil and issued alerts in at least 11 districts of the western region.</p>

<p>Mathura, Aligarh, Agra and Gautam Buddh Nagar were some key areas where alert was issued.</p>

<p>ADG (Agra zone) Rajeev Krishna said that Mathura and Aligarh were sensitive due to the ongoing 84 Kosi Parikrama, the 297-km religious tour that also includes some areas of Haryana’s Mewat district.</p>

<p>“We are coordinating with Haryana police to ensure security has been intensified along the route,” he said.</p>
