The Songwriters Hall of Fame class of 2019 was inducted in New York on Thursday. This year's inductees were Dallas Austin, Missy Elliott, John Prine, Jack Tempchin, Tom T. Hall and Yusuf Islam/Cat Stevens. Pop stars Justin Timberlake and Halsey were also honoured. Timberlake was honoured with the Contemporary Icon Award. Halsey received the Hal David Starlight Award which recognizes young talent. Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran and Alicia Keys are past recipients of the award.

According to a popular LA-based website, singers Kelly Clarkson, Halsey and a number of music industry members will all be wearing white roses as a sign of solidarity for the movement.&nbsp;

The demonstration reportedly was organised by Roc nation senior vice president Meg Harkings and&nbsp;Interscope/Geffen/A&amp;M Records&#39; Karen Rait after realising there was nothing set in stone for the music awards show.

Harkings said that the movement &quot;grew like wildfire&quot; as singers&nbsp;Cyndi Lauper, Rita Ora, Tom Morello and Dua Lipa all announced that they would be joining it.&nbsp;

Rita said:&nbsp;&quot;It&#39;s very important that we stay on their message.&nbsp;The amount of work they have been able to do in just three short weeks is inspiring&quot; before adding &quot;Music artists have a lot of impact ... So it&#39;s only fitting that that music&#39;s biggest night show the support for equality and safety in the workplace and that people need to be cognizant of their fellow employees.&quot;

With 2017 being dogged by sexual assault and sexual harassment&nbsp;cases coming to fore, the entertainment fraternity came out to voice their concerns and stand for victims of abuse.&nbsp;

Music industry to support 'Time's Up', to wear white at Grammy Awards

Annual <a href="http://www.wionews.com/photos/trump-beigns-second-year-with-shutdown-women-march-again-638#photo-35387" target="_blank">women&#39;s march</a> took place over the weekend in different parts of the world with female celebrities, activists and regular women coming out to speak up against <a href="http://www.wionews.com/photos/metoo-hundreds-march-in-hollywood-against-sexual-harassment-548" target="_blank">sexual harassment</a>, gender issues, <a href="http://www.wionews.com/world/entertainment-times-up-reese-witherspoon-jennifer-anniston-meryl-streep-and-others-join-hands-to-fight-against-sexual-harassment-28305" target="_blank">Time&#39;s Up</a> movement, empowerment and justice.&nbsp;

While many came out to talk about their personal experiences, there were some who read out inspirational pieces.&nbsp;

The US singer and songwriter Halsey penned a powerful and emotional poem on sexual abuse that she read it out at the Women&#39;s March.&nbsp;

In her poem, Halsey told of how she was sexually assaulted as a child and of how she went with her best friend to Planned Parenthood after she was raped. She introduced the poem by saying:&nbsp;&ldquo;I don&rsquo;t really know how to do a speech unless it rhymes, so I&rsquo;m gonna do a little poem for you guys.&quot;&nbsp;

Halsey speaks about a former&nbsp;lover who would force her to have sex, how she&nbsp;had to go through a miscarriage and how being in the public eye has not protected her from abuse.
