<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said the government is taking several steps to promote young entrepreneurs in the country, adding that startups are no longer confined to big cities.</p>

<p>Smaller towns and villages too are emerging as vibrant startup centres, the Prime Minister said while interacting with young entrepreneurs from across the country, including cities like Dehradun, Guwahati and Raipur.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also said that along with Make in India, Design in India too is important for startups.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Adequate capital, courage and connecting with people are required for excelling in the startup sector," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Modi added that there was a time when startups meant only digital and technology innovation but now things are changing and we are seeing startups in various other fields, including agriculture.&nbsp;</p>

<p>"We have started an Agriculture Grand Challenge. We invite more youngsters to ideate on how to transform our agriculture sector," he added.</p>

<p>The government has launched the Startup India Action Plan to promote budding entrepreneurs in the country. The plan is aimed at giving incentives such as tax holiday, inspector raj-free regime and capital gains tax exemption, Modi said.</p>

<p>"Our startups are growth engines. Today's big companies were startups at some point. I urge the people of India to keep innovating," he added.</p>

<p>He also said that the youth in India is now creating jobs and the government is committed to harnessing the demographic dividend.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Commenting on the issue of fund availability for startups, Modi said the government has created a Rs 10,000 crore Fund of Funds.&nbsp;</p>

<p>He also said startups can sell their products to the government and it has eased public procurement norms for them.</p>

<p>India has distinguished itself in the global startup ecosystem, the Prime Minister added.</p>

<p>Around 2352 solar modules with a capacity of generating 700 kwp has been set up over the roof of the Guwahati railway station. have been installed at the roof-top solar power plant.</p>

<p>The solar-powered station is aimed at reducing carbon-footprint as well as cut down power costs drastically.</p>

<p>Around 6.3 lakh kg carbon dioxide emissions have been cut off between April 12 last year to May 10 this year.</p>

<p>The project cost is estimated to be Rs 6.7 crore, as per Indian Railways. The solar power plant will save Rs 67 lakh worth of electricity.</p>

<p>With an average power generation capacity per day is 2048 KWh, the solar panels till date have generated a total of 7,96,669 KWH of electricity.</p>

<p>The Indian Railways is currently the country’s largest consumer of electricity and diesel and spent around Rs31,000 crore, or 18% of its operational expenses, on fuel in the financial year 2016. In part to bring down this burgeoning fuel bill, the state-run transportation network has been taking steps to transition to renewable energy for a few years now.</p>

Guwahati railway station is now fully powered by solar energy

<p>A 13-year-old girl who was allegedly gang-raped in Rangapani in Guwahati last week succumbed to her injuries on Saturday, reports said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The girl was admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and died there.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She was reportedly gang-raped by three locals outside her house on December 14, when her parents were not at home and was left to die.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The 13-year-old was rushed to a nearby healthcare&nbsp;after she was found unconscious the next day.&nbsp;</p>

<p>No charges were initially filed by the family. The police were only intimated once the girl was admitted to the hospital and an FIR was lodged at Sontoli police outpost two days after the incident.</p>

<p>The police are yet to receive a medical report of her condition while the investigation continues. One person has been arrested so far.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The victim&#39;s family reportedly said that she was unable to receive urgent medical treatment as she was from an economically disadvantaged background. Hospital authorities, however, disagreed to the charges.</p>

<p>The Times of India quoted an unnamed official as saying that the IED weighed about &quot;10 kg and its radius of impact would have been 100 meters&quot;.&nbsp;&nbsp;</p>

<p>Investigations are on to ascertain if the explosive was set on a timer.</p>

<p>After reviewing the situation, an assistance of Rs 2,000 crore was announced for flood-hit Northeastern states. Assam will get an additional Rs 250 crore for flood relief.</p>

<p>Another Rs 100 crore was announced for high power study on the Brahmaputra as a permanent solution to the flooding.</p>

<p>An ex-gratia assistance of Rs&nbsp;2 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased, and Rs&nbsp;50,000 to each of those seriously injured due to the floods, has been sanctioned under the Prime Minister&#39;s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).</p>

<p>Seventy-nine people have died in the floods in Assam so far.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Modi&#39;s visit comes in the midst of criticism by opposition parties and organisations in the northeastern state that despite the severe floods, he was yet to visit the state. The floods have affected more than 25 lakh people across 29 districts.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Modi&nbsp;conducted two meetings at the administrative staff college in Guwahati.</p>

<p>The first meeting was between him and Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal and other senior&nbsp;officials of the state.</p>
