<p>The Indian state of Gujarat is facing heavy rainfall which has led&nbsp;to the death of 28 people due to waterlogging and a flood-like situation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The India Meteorological Department (IMD) had previously issued a red alert for Thursday. It has also indicated that a cyclonic storm will develop off the coast of Gujarat on August 30, potentially leading to more heavy rainfall, currently lingering over Saurashtra and Kutch.</p>

<p>The IMD&nbsp;has also noted that the deep depression has remained stationary for more than six hours.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“To move W-SW and emerge into the northeast Arabian Sea by the morning of August 30. While moving W-SW over the northeast Arabian Sea away from the Indian coast, there is a possibility of its temporary and marginal intensification over the northeast Arabian Sea on August 30,” the weather department stated.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to Rushikesh Patel, the health minister of Gujarat, over 5000 people have been&nbsp;rehabilitated. As per the State Relief Commissioner Alok Pandey, around 40,000 people have been evacuated from the flood-affected areas.&nbsp;</p>

<p>A press release by IMD for the Saurashtra and Kutch region states, "heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places and extremely heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 27th August; heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places is likely on 28th &amp; 29th August and heavy rainfall at isolated places on 30th August."</p>

<p>Baroda received maximum rainfall in the state of 280 mm between 8:30 am on August 26 and 5:30 am on August 27. While 120 mm of rain was recorded in Ahmedabad and 190 mm in Rajkot.</p>

<p>The state has been witnessing a flood-like situation since Monday after which National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams carried out rescue and relief operations.</p>

<p>"The water level increased in the morning, causing water to enter the Hanuman Bhagda and Valsad areas, disrupting road connectivity. We rescued a pregnant woman," NDRF inspector Ramesh Kumar told ANI.</p>

<p>IMD has also predicted heavy rainfall at isolated places in East Madhya Pradesh on Tuesday (Aug 27). Very heavy rainfall is expected at isolated places in West Madhya Pradesh. Rajasthan is likely to witness similar conditions till August 29.</p>

<p>The weather department has predicted heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in Konkan, Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Jharkhand, Odisha, and Gangetic West Bengal regions over the next two days.</p>

<p>IMD has issued a yellow alert for Delhi on Tuesday as light to moderate rainfall is expected, accompanied by thunderstorms and strong winds.</p>

<p>Heavy rainfall warning has also been issued for seven districts of Himachal Pradesh including Shimla, Solan, Sirmaur, Kangra, Kullu, Mandi and Bilaspur.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Mumbai and surrounding regions including&nbsp;Thane, Pune and Palghar. IMD has also issued a red alert for Vadodara, Gujarat with the level of the Vishwamitri River rising to 18.3 feet.</p>

<p>The National Disaster Relief Force (NDRF) has been conducting evacuation operations in Gujarat since Tuesday.</p>

<p>As of Thursday (Jul 25) morning, areas in south and central Gujarat, including Surat, Bharuch, and Anand, have been struck by heavy rain. Train services in several regions of the state were also impacted.</p>

<h2><strong>Surat: Over 200 individuals relocated</strong></h2>

<p>Heavy rain in Gujarat's&nbsp;Surat on Tuesday (Jul 23) led to widespread flooding in the city and isolated several villages.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The floods also prompted&nbsp;the relocation of over 200 individuals, according to officials. Precautionary measures included blocking 132 roads in the district.</p>

<h2><strong>Four killed&nbsp;in Pune due to heavy rains</strong></h2>

<p>In Pune, at least four people were killed, and nearly 400 others were evacuated on Thursday due to flooding along Sinhagad Road and other riverbank areas, caused by incessant&nbsp;rains, officials told the news agency&nbsp;PTI.</p>

<p>On Wednesday night, three youngsters died from electrocution near Bhide Bridge in Pune&nbsp;after&nbsp;an electric current entered stagnant floodwater.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, a&nbsp;landslide in Adharwadi village early on Thursday morning claimed one life. The Indian army has deployed two columns in the Sinhagad Road area which was severely affected by flooding.</p>

<p>In Maharashtra, four major rivers have surpassed their danger levels, prompting a high alert for riverside villages. According to the state irrigation department's data released on Thursday, the Kundalika River has risen to 24.50 metres, exceeding its danger threshold of 23.95 metres. <p>In Rajasthan, dust storm and rains left 10 persons dead. While four people died in Jhalawar and Jaipur, one person each died in Baran and Udaipur, Relief Secretary Ashutosh A T Pednekar said.</p>

<p>Dabok in Udaipur recorded maximum of 34.7 mm rains followed by Kota, Alwar, Bhilwara, Jaipur and Sriganganagar where 27.8, 21.9, 21, 13.8 and 13 mm rains occurred. Few other places also recorded below 13 mm rains till Wednesday morning.</p>

<p>Rain and dust storm devastated many areas in Gujarat too with North Gujarat and Saurashtra regions most affected on Tuesday.</p>

<p>"According to preliminary reports coming from different parts of the state, at least 10 people have lost their lives," G B Manglpara, the state government's director (Relief), said.</p>

<p>"Most of the deaths were reported in North Gujarat due to lightning strike and falling of trees," he said.</p>

<p>A portion of a tent erected for Prime Minister Narendra Modi's rally in Himmatnagar town of North Gujarat was also damaged in the dust storm. On Wednesday morning, Modi expressed anguish over the loss of lives and said the authorities are monitoring the situation very closely and all possible assistance is being given to those affected.</p>

<p>In another tweet, the prime minister's office said, Modi has approved an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from the Prime Minister's National Relief Fund for the next of kin of those who have lost their lives due to unseasonal rain and storm in various parts of Gujarat.</p>
