<p>Dr. Rukhmabai Raut who was born in Mumbai on November 22, 1864, was one of British India&#39;s first practising women doctors when women&#39;s rights had almost no consideration.&nbsp;</p>

<p>She also brought the Age of Consent Act, 1891 into existence, as she fought for&nbsp;her right to continue her education instead of staying married.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The story goes back to 1880 when she was married at an early age of just 11 years to Dadaji Bhikaji who was 19. At the time, getting married at that age was rather common amongst the nation. Her mother, too, was married at the age of 14 and gave birth to Raut at 15 eventually losing her husband at the age of 17.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Even though she was married to Dadaji she never lived with him - instead, she continued to study and lived with her step-father for many years, against societal norms.&nbsp;</p>

<p>In March 1887, she was ordered by the court to live with her husband or she would be subject to imprisonment for six months. However, after a number of hearings, Rukhmabai went against all odds and took help from Queen Victoria - eventually leading to a dissolve in the marriage for which Dadaji took monetary compensation.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Further, she went on to study medicine at the London School of Medicine to complete her education. After graduating, she worked at a women&#39;s hospital in Surat, becoming the first women doctor in India, and continued her practice for 35 years.&nbsp;</p>

Most of us, including I thank the web giant for bringing the much-loved art form into the mainstream. Every kid&rsquo;s favourite pastime would have otherwise remained between the last pages of school textbooks or on the paper napkins.&nbsp;<br />

While Google in its everyday doodles commemorates important events of the world and people&rsquo;s contribution in different fields of study, there is a software developer in India who doodles away his time while travelling in the modest metro train, to and fro work.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
The Delhi-based artist features his work under the label Metrodoodle on both Facebook and Instagram but he got famous when he first published an Instagram post on October 29, 2016. Users on the picture-sharing social network app poured in their appreciation for the doodle with some even saying: &ldquo;You have made our day with this&rdquo;.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
He has never stopped since.&nbsp;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
Metrodoodler says, &ldquo;I&#39;ve been doodling all this time since I was a kid. It started with doodling on the last pages of the notebooks during school. You can find something in every notebook that I&rsquo;ve ever used. Now I doodle on my phone as it is always with me. It&rsquo;s amazing how I can draw anytime, anywhere whenever I feel. Metrodoodle basically helped me to put my time in travelling to some use. One thing is that I was able to create doodles for people to enjoy, another was that it was a daily practice for me to work and improve my skills.&rdquo;<br />
&nbsp;<br />
Doodling monsters, aliens, fictional characters, superheroes and mythical animals, he keeps reinventing with his doodles. He says, &ldquo;There isn&rsquo;t any specific area the inspiration comes from rather it&rsquo;s a mixture of so many things. The stuff I like to watch, read and think about, the people, the conversations and almost everything. The Metro gives me a huge canvas to imagine things and draw. When I am creating my artwork, I try to keep it different from reality.&rdquo;</p>

Using his imagination to doodle animate and inanimate objects around people, he talks about his inspiration: &ldquo;I am constantly inspired by the work of all the artists shared on Instagram by them. Instagram is probably my favourite app. The work done by Subwaydoodle triggered me to start something of my own, as a result Metrodoodle happened. I made sure to keep my artwork different and unique by portraying my own imagination in my work. I try to put in some humour in my doodles, whenever possible. It feels nice if you can bring a smile on people&rsquo;s face.&rdquo;</p>

On the contrary, I keep getting requests from people who want to be featured in my artwork.&rdquo;<br />

<p>He started his film career in 1954 in the film <em>Bedara Kannapa</em> and went on to star in over 220 movies, his last being <em>Shabdavedhi</em> in 2000.</p>

<p>In 2000, the Kannada icon had to face a bad phase, when he was kidnapped by sandalwood smuggler Veerappan and was held captive for 108 days. The actor died of cardiac arrest at his residence in Bangalore on April 12, 2006 at the age of 77.</p>

Rajkumar's 88th birth anniversary: Google honours veteran Indian actor with doodle

<p>Commemorating Jagdish Chandra Bose&rsquo;s 158th birth anniversary, Google has posted a doodle on its India homepage. The doodle features Bose and his invention in action.</p>

<p>Jagdish Chandra Bose was a master of scientific achievement with numerous accomplishments in various fields.</p>

<p>Born in Bangladesh in 1858, Bose was known not only for his work in biophysics, but also for his innovation in the world of radio and microwave sciences, ultimately inventing an early version of wireless telecommunication.</p>

<p>As a testament to his numerous contributions to the field, a moon crater was named in his honor.</p>

<p>Bose&rsquo;s investigations into nature included the invention of the crescograph -- an instrument that measures movement and growth in plants, by magnifying them 10,000 times.</p>

<p>Bose went on to demonstrate the similarities between animals and plants, particularly when it came to reactions to different environmental, electrical, and chemical influences.</p>

<p>He died in 1937 at the age of 79.</p>

Born in Bangladesh in 1858, Bose was known not only for his work in biophysics, but also for his innovation in the world of radio and microwave sciences, ultimately inventing an early version of wireless telecommunication. As a testament to his numerous contributions to the field, a moon crater was named in his honor. Bose’s investigations into nature included the invention of the crescograph -- an instrument that measures movement and growth in plants, by magnifying them 10,000 times. Bose went on to demonstrate the similarities between animals and plants, particularly when it came to reactions to different environmental, electrical, and chemical influences. He died in 1937 at the age of 79. (WION)
