Judge Currie Mingledorff told the father that if convicted on all counts, he would face a maximum prison sentence of 180 years.&nbsp;

<h2>Charges against&nbsp;Colt, Colin Gray</h2>

Colin Gray, 54, allegedly gave his 14-year-old son a firearm "with the knowledge he was a threat to himself and others" and has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder, four counts of involuntary manslaughter, and eight counts of cruelty to children.&nbsp;

The 54-year-old would also face up to 30 years in prison for each count of second-degree felony murder.&nbsp;

If convicted, he&nbsp;can&nbsp;get up to 10 years in prison for each count of involuntary manslaughter. He could also get&nbsp;10 years&nbsp;in prison for each count of cruelty to children.&nbsp;

Initially, Judge Currie said that the maximum penalty in the case of Colt was the death sentence or life in prison.&nbsp;

A suspect had been arrested after reports emerged of an active shooting at&nbsp;Apalachee High School in Winder, located about 45 miles (70 kilometres) northeast of Atlanta, the state capital. At least four people are dead while 30 are injured, according to US media reports.&nbsp;

Footage going viral on social media showed&nbsp;police and ambulances rushing to the high school as panic-stricken parents arrived at the scene to pick up their children. At least two people were seen being loaded into medical helicopters and evacuated.

The suspect is believed to be of school age but it remains unclear if he attended the&nbsp;Apalachee school.&nbsp;

"We have agents on site assisting local, state, and federal law enforcement with the investigation. One suspect in custody," the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said.&nbsp;

"We will continue to work with local, state, and federal partners as we gather information and further respond to this situation."

Georgia's key attacking duo Mikautadze and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia both needed medical treatment in the warm-up but were able to start the match.

Valencia stopper Mamardashvili made fine early saves to deny Adam Hlozek and then Schick on a busy afternoon.

Georgia wanted a penalty when Zuriko Davitashvili fell under pressure from Ladislav Krejci, but their appeals were waved away.

After both sides were beaten in their opening matches, they were under pressure to take three points at the Volksparkstadion in Hamburg, leading to a thoroughly entertaining end-to-end game.

&nbsp;The criminal election interference case against former US president Donald Trump has been stayed for months till an appellate panel decides if the district attorney in Fulton County needs to be disqualified from prosecuting the case with a conflict of interest.

The court, in a one-page order, said that any movement at the trial-court level related to Trump and eight other defendants who have filed a plea against the ruling which permitted prosecutor Fani T Willis to stay on the case was “stayed pending the outcome of these appeals.”

The former president's lawyers have repeatedly asked for the removal of Willis from the case while arguing that she is allegedly involved in a romantic relationship with another prosecutor.

The judge overseeing the case last month said that no conflict of interest was found by the court and permitted the case to proceed, as Trump's appeal remained pending.&nbsp;

However, the latest decision will stop the case from proceeding till the appeal ruling on Willis.&nbsp;

Currently, the Georgia Court of Appeals is scheduled to hear arguments on October 4 which makes it highly unlikely to settle the case ahead of the presidential election in November.

Trump, along with 18 others, is facing prosecution in Georgia for conspiring to overturn the state's 2020 election results. The trial was almost upended after one of the co-defendants said that Willis' romantic relationship with lead prosecutor Nathan Wade was benefitting her improperly.

After some tense days in court in February, Willis finally accepted her relationship with Wade but denied getting any benefits.

Judge Scott McAfee finally found in March that Willis had a "serious lapse in judgment" and that the case suffered damage because of the relationship, with the "appearance of impropriety".

Georgia’s parliament once again adopted&nbsp;the highly controversial “foreign agents” bill, on Tuesday (May 28) despite weeks of, often violent, protests with many criticising it for being similar to Russia’s repressive legislation.&nbsp;

The legislation was first adopted on May 14 but was vetoed by the country's president.

<h2>What is the legislation about?</h2>

The so-called “foreign agents” law now requires organisations, including media outlets, nonprofits and other non-governmental organisations receiving more than 20 per cent of their funding from abroad to register as bodies “pursuing the interests of a foreign power.”&nbsp;

The legislation pitched by the ruling Georgian Dream party also threatens the country’s bid to join the European Union. Meanwhile, the party has argued that the legislation is needed to enhance the transparency of NGO funding and protect the country from interference by the West.&nbsp;

The former PM and the ruling party’s founder Bidzina Ivanishvili had spoken about how interference from Western powers could drag Georgia into a war with Russia, in which Georgians are used as cannon fodder.

A report by AFP has said the billionaire founder of the party, Ivanishvili, has made his fortune in Russia and also accused NGOs of plotting a revolution and being foreign puppets.

<h2>Presidential veto overridden</h2>

In an interview with CNN, earlier this month,&nbsp;Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili called the legislation “an exact duplicate” of its Russian counterpart and&nbsp;vowed to veto the bill.&nbsp;

However, it did not make a difference since Georgia’s government is a parliamentary system,&nbsp;where the president is a nominal head. Additionally,&nbsp;since&nbsp;the parliament&nbsp;is controlled by the ruling party they were able to&nbsp;override her veto.&nbsp;

Lawmakers voted 84 to four to pass the bill after rejecting&nbsp;the presidential veto, on Tuesday (May 28).&nbsp;

It is also worth noting that despite the ruling party’s anti-Western rhetoric, they want the country to join the 27-nation bloc as well as NATO. A report by Reuters citing a poll also said that Georgia’s 3.7 million people back EU accession.&nbsp;

Over the years, Russia, which occupies about 20 per cent of Georgia’s internationally recognised territory, has used similar legislation to crack down on NGOs and independent news media who are critical of the Kremlin.&nbsp;

The ruling Georgian Dream party re-introduced the bill in a shocking move last month, a year after shelving it due to a <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/anti-government-protesters-fill-the-streets-of-georgian-capital-tbilisi-again-580799">huge backlash</a>.

In an interview with news agency AFP, earlier this month,&nbsp;Georgian Dream MP Nikoloz Samkharadze criticised the outrage over the bill and said it has “nothing to do with the Russian” version.&nbsp;

However, the EU and international rights groups disagree. Several groups have decried the law as undemocratic, while the 27-nation bloc has indicated it is not compatible with membership of the EU.&nbsp;

<h2>Mass protests, student walkout on May 13-14</h2>

Since April, thousands of Georgians have staged near-nightly protests against the proposed bill. On May 13, hundreds of university students in the Georgian capital, Tbilisi walked out of classes and joined thousands of protesters opposing the bill.&nbsp;

Riot police in the country armed with water cannons and teargas have been accused of beating protesters who picketed outside Georgia’s parliament, on Monday (May 13) morning to try and stop a final vote.&nbsp;&nbsp;

On May 12, several thousand protesters staged an all-night rally outside parliament but failed to prevent lawmakers from entering the parliament after the MPs managed to access the building from the back and pushed the bill through a parliamentary legal committee in less than two minutes.&nbsp;

The critics of the bill and many protesters, as per AFP, said that they see the bill as a symbol of their government’s wider drift towards Russia.&nbsp;

Georgia’s Interior Ministry said that at least 20 people, including two American citizens and one Russian national, were detained during the rallies, earlier this month.&nbsp;

The country’s Special Investigation Service, which investigates allegations of police brutality said they&nbsp;have opened a case into claims of use of excessive force by police personnel&nbsp;during the protests on May 13 and 14.&nbsp;
