<p>A woman in the United Kingdom claimed that she had married a ghost, and now she says she wants an exorcism to get rid of her husband. It may sound bizarre, but the life of 38-year-old Rocker Brocarde has become a living "hell".&nbsp;</p>

<p>Brocarde, who is reportedly from Oxfordshire, tied the knot with her husband Edwardo five months. She said that they met on Halloween last year.&nbsp;</p>

<p>However, things appear to have gone awry as she now wants to separate from her husband, who ended up haunting her using "the screams of a crying baby".&nbsp;</p>

<p>She said that she wants to end the marriage because Edwardo, who is said to be a ghost of a Victoria soldier, is apparently stalking her.&nbsp;</p>

<p>While speaking to Daily Star, she said, "I am at the end of my tether. I don't want to admit defeat, but it feels like being married to a ghost doesn't work."&nbsp;</p>

<p>As quoted by the media outlets, Brocarde has also said that she has been experiencing "deep dark thoughts" of late. She linked the issues to Edwardo (the ghost husband) as she says he is happy about her decision to end the marriage.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Media outlets have also mentioned that she is a singer and songwriter. A report by Daily Mail stated that Brocarde reached out to a medium. However, she claimed that Edwardo did not want to take the "marriage counselling" seriously.&nbsp;</p>

<p>The incident took place in the small town of Delgoda on the outskirts of Colombo.</p>

<p>According to police, the mother of the victim thought that she had been possessed by a demon. The mother took her daughter to an exorcist. The woman began hitting the girl with a cane.</p>

<p>The girl lost consciousness and was taken to a hospital where she was declared dead. Authorities are waiting for an autopsy report.</p>

<p>Police Spokesman, Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Ajith Rohana said that "the mother had suspected that the daughter had been possessed by a supernatural existence causing illness. The mother took the child to a neighbouring house to perform the shamanic ritual. The particular neighbourhood lady provided a treatment using some oil. Then it was reported that she then proceeded to attack the child using canes to rid her of the demon being. After being attacked by canes the young girl fell unconscious and was taken to the Biyagama hospital last night, where the doctors reported her passing."</p>

<p>The victim's mother and the woman who performed the exorcism have been arrested. The woman who performed the ritual is known in the area for offering such services.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Police have urged people to be careful as they suspect that there may have been more victims.</p>

<p>Cardinal Ernest Simoni, 89, of Albania, quickly piqued the interest of participants in first session at when he said that he had performed exorcisms via cellphone.</p>

<p>"They call me and we speak and like this," Simoni said after his mentioning the cellphone technique in his formal address.</p>

<p>Speaking in a calm, grandfatherly, what's-the-big-deal tone of voice, he said he read the prayers of exorcism in Latin over the phone, just as he would if he were performing the detailed rite in person.</p>

<p>Although no official figures are available, Church officials say the number of demonic possessions is on the rise.</p>

<p>Professor Giuseppe Ferrari, one of the organisers of the "Course on Exorcism and the Prayer of Liberation", held at the Vatican-approved Pontifical Regina Apostolorum University said the number of exorcisms was definitely increasing over the years.</p>

<p>Apart from sessions with practising exorcists, the some 35 lessons and lectures include sessions with theologians, psychologists, criminologists, and Church historians.</p>

<p>Most of the participants in the course were priests. Only priests can perform exorcisms and only after their bishops give them permission.</p>

<p>Those who take the course are given a certificate but Ferrari stressed that does not entitle them to perform exorcism.</p>

<p>Lay Catholics, including women, can be what a course entry called "auxiliary exorcists," meaning they can be present at the rite, pray and give moral support to the priest casting out the demon.</p>
