The Barcelona playmaker had to be substituted after just eight minutes in the clash in Stuttgart, which Spain won 2-1 after extra-time.

In a statement on Saturday, the Spanish football federation said the 21-year-old had suffered a "grade two ligament sprain" but will remain in Germany to support his team-mates for the rest of the tournament.

According to Spanish media reports he will be sidelined for a month.

Pedri was injured after a robust challenge early on from Toni Kroos in what turned out to be the final match of the Germany midfielder's career.

After seeing the match move into extra time as both Portugal and Slovenia could not score in normal time, Ronaldo was presented with an opportunity to win the match. In the 103rd minute, Vanja Drkusic's challenge on Diego Jota saw Portugal awarded a penalty which was taken by Ronaldo. <h2>Ronaldo has redemption</h2>

While Ronaldo’s penalty miss in extra time saw him miss out on scoring in six consecutive Euro’s he did get his redemption soon. With the match heading into a penalty shootout, Ronaldo took the opportunity to score Portugal’s second penalty. This time he got the better of Oblak and converted to give Portugal a 2-0 lead in the shootout. They would eventually win the shootout 3-0 with Diogo Costa saving all three of Slovenia’s penalties.

However, despite the shootout goal, Ronaldo is not technically registered to have scored a goal at the Euro 2024 as shootout goals are not counted. Therefore, the Portugal captain will have to wait for Saturday’s clash against France where he could become the first player to score at six Euros. "A UEFA Ethics and Disciplinary Inspector will conduct a disciplinary investigation regarding a potential violation of the basic rules of decent conduct by the English Football Association player, Jude Bellingham, having allegedly occurred in the scope of this match," read a statement by UEFA which was released on Monday (Jul 1).

Post match, Belgium players were not very happy as they squeezed their way into the last 16 after a disappointing group stage campaign where they picked up only four points. Interestingly, Tedesco dropped Thibaut Courtois who has a poor relationship with both the manager and De Bruyne due to personal reasons. After the Ukraine match players were seen discontent with low body language, which highlighted the friction in the team campaign. &nbsp;

Had they lost to Ukraine on Wednesday they could have faced elimination while they had already lost to Romania on matchday 1.
