The former Kiwi skipper admitted his job is to allow Buttler to play freely so it could give confidence to the dressing room, motivating them to play better every time.

“He has won a World Cup as captain [the T20 edition in Australia in 2022] and been part of World Cup-winning teams previously. He is a gifted player and a fine leader.”

"My job is to get the best out of him so players in the dressing room feel bulletproof and 10 feet tall and know the skipper is going to give them that extra pat on the back and enjoy the ride with them,” Buttler said.

Australia then reached 130-2 in their second innings to extend their lead to 221 runs despite some accurate bowling from the hosts.

Patel, England's spin-bowling coach, was asked what would be a realistic target to chase for a side who have attacked relentlessly over the past year.

"We've seen some amazing things from this team," he said. "It's going to be a different ask against a different attack but we've seen some crazy things from this line-up in the last year."

"This team is about breaking records, they want to set new standards. They want to sell out grounds and the way to do that is firstly to bowl them out and set the crowd alight and then chase whatever it is down."

England will take heart from a succession of improbable run chases under skipper Stokes, including their astonishing pursuit of 378 to beat India last year -- the highest successful chase in their history.

"We've always said that we want to play an aggressive brand," said Patel. "It's not always going to come off and that's not a cop out. It's just reality."

Former England star Andrew Flintoff has revealed he dreams of coaching the national team in the future.

Flintoff called time on his international career in 2009 and has been working as a television presenter recently after a brief foray into boxing.

The all-rounder hopes to return to cricket in a coaching capacity and already has lower-level qualifications.

England are currently looking for someone to replace Trevor Bayliss who is due to step down at the end of the current&nbsp;Ashes&nbsp;series against Australia.

Flintoff, who helped England win the&nbsp;Ashes&nbsp;as a player in 2005 and 2009, concedes it is too soon to expect to get the job now.

But the 41-year-old refused to rule it out in the long-term.

"Coaching is definitely an ambition. There are probably two or three coaching jobs I'd like - England, Lancashire or Lancashire Academy," he told BBC radio's Test Match Special programme on Friday.

"I'd love to be England coach one day, just not quite yet."

Flintoff, who played his county cricket with Lancashire, has already done some coaching work with the Under-13 side at his old side.

"I've got two of my coaching levels - me and (former England team-mate) Steve Harmison might do our level threes soon," he said.

Flintoff, who played 79 Tests and 141 one-day internationals for England, revealed he applied for the national team coaching job when it became available in 2014.

But he was not taken seriously and the role went to Peter Moores.

"A few years ago I applied for the England coaching job - we were getting beat, I was in the office and thought, 'I'm going to apply'," Flintoff said.

"I wrote an email for the interview, a month passed and I'd heard nothing. I chased it up, then I got a phone call saying they thought it was somebody taking the mick!"

The all-rounder hopes to return to cricket in a coaching capacity and already has lower-level qualifications. England are currently looking for someone to replace Trevor Bayliss who is due to step down at the end of the current Ashes series against Australia. Flintoff, who helped England win the Ashes as a player in 2005 and 2009, concedes it is too soon to expect to get the job now. But the 41-year-old refused to rule it out in the long-term. "Coaching is definitely an ambition. There are probably two or three coaching jobs I'd like - England, Lancashire or Lancashire Academy," he told BBC radio's Test Match Special programme on Friday. "I'd love to be England coach one day, just not quite yet." Flintoff, who played his county cricket with Lancashire, has already done some coaching work with the Under-13 side at his old side. "I've got two of my coaching levels - me and (former England team-mate) Steve Harmison might do our level threes soon," he said. Flintoff, who played 79 Tests and 141 one-day internationals for England, revealed he applied for the national team coaching job when it became available in 2014. But he was not taken seriously and the role went to Peter Moores. "A few years ago I applied for the England coaching job - we were getting beat, I was in the office and thought, 'I'm going to apply'," Flintoff said. "I wrote an email for the interview, a month passed and I'd heard nothing. I chased it up, then I got a phone call saying they thought it was somebody taking the mick!"

Former England captain Kevin Pietersen has told current limited-overs skipper Eoin Morgan he will be putting his international future in jeopardy if he opts out of the upcoming tour of Bangladesh. 
 
The future of the tour was in the balance after an attack on a Dhaka cafe in July saw 20 - mostly foreign - hostages killed, with the Islamic State group claiming responsibility. 
 
However, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) said last month that the tour, which includes three one-day international and two Test match fixtures in October and November, would go ahead as planned. 
 
The confirmation followed a visit to Bangladesh by an ECB delegation led by their long-serving security chief Reg Dickason. 
 
England coach Trevor Bayliss has confirmed he has no qualms about touring Bangladesh, although Moeen Ali is the only England player to so far state publicly, and without qualification, that he will go if selected. 
 
However, reports in the British press have suggested Test skipper Alastair Cook, who no longer plays white-ball cricket for England, will travel to Bangladesh as well. 
 
&quot;Eoin Morgan has no choice but to go to Bangladesh,&quot; Pietersen explained in his Daily Telegraph column published Tuesday.
