Queen&nbsp;Elizabeth will stress the value of harmony and&nbsp;reconciliation&nbsp;in her Christmas message this&nbsp;year, Buckingham Palace said on Tuesday,&nbsp;after&nbsp;a&nbsp;year&nbsp;in which the tortuous&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/british-pm-boris-johnsons-brexit-deal-wins-first-vote-in-new-parliament-269404">Brexit</a>&nbsp;process aggravated deep divisions in Britain.

The palace released two short extracts from the 93-year-old monarch's televised Christmas Day message, one on the 75th anniversary of the World War Two D-Day landings, the other on the life of Jesus and the importance of&nbsp;reconciliation.

There was no indication of whether the&nbsp;Queen&nbsp;will mention more painful aspects of 2019 for the royal family, particularly the furore over her son Prince Andrew's links to disgraced US&nbsp;financier <a href="https://www.wionews.com/photos/jeffrey-epstein-how-the-man-with-famous-friends-fell-apart-242546">Jeffrey Epstein</a>.

Along with her 98-year-old husband, the Duke of Edinburgh, being involved in a car crash in January and having to spend this Christmas in hospital for checks, it has been what many commentators have called another "annus horribilis" for her.

That was how she described 1992, when three of her children's marriages - including that of Prince Charles to Princess Diana - collapsed and a fire severely damaged her Windsor Castle home.

In Tuesday's extracts, the&nbsp;Queen&nbsp;said of <a href="https://www.wionews.com/photos/d-day-in-pictures-remembering-the-longest-day-253">D-Day</a>: "For the 75th anniversary of that decisive battle, in a true spirit of&nbsp;reconciliation, those who had formerly been sworn enemies came together in friendly commemorations either side of the Channel, putting past differences behind them ...

"By being willing to put past differences behind us and move forward together, we honour the freedom and democracy once won for us at so great a cost."

On&nbsp;reconciliation, she talks of "how small steps taken in faith and in hope can overcome long-held differences and deep-seated divisions to bring harmony and understanding ..."

She adds: "The path, of course, is not always smooth, and may at times this&nbsp;year&nbsp;have felt quite bumpy, but small steps can make a world of difference."

Britain's regional and political divisions have been exacerbated in the 3-1/2&nbsp;years since it voted to leave the EU.

A landslide election win for Conservative Prime Minister <a href="https://www.wionews.com/opinions/uk-election-what-boris-johnsons-victory-means-for-britains-place-in-the-world-268495">Boris Johnson</a> this month enabled him finally to win approval for his&nbsp;Brexit&nbsp;deal in parliament, but also re-awakened calls north of the border for another referendum on Scottish independence.

The&nbsp;Queen's message was filmed at Windsor Castle, west of London, and produced by the BBC.

Queen stresses reconciliation after bruising Brexit year

In a ceremony that marks a new parliament, Queen Elizabeth will read&nbsp;out&nbsp;the laws which the government wants the House of Commons to approve and will pinpoint&nbsp;Johnson's&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/queen-elizabeth-to-set-out-pm-johnsons-agenda-on-thursday-268326">priorities</a>&nbsp;after winning a commanding majority at last week's <a href="https://www.wionews.com/opinions/uk-election-what-boris-johnsons-victory-means-for-britains-place-in-the-world-268495">national election</a>.

The prime minister, who won over many traditional supporters of the main opposition Labour Party in northern and central England, has proclaimed he will lead a "people's government" and will move to fulfil his pledge to "get&nbsp;Brexit&nbsp;done".

The&nbsp;Queen's&nbsp;Speech&nbsp;will include new legislation needed to implement the future relationship&nbsp;Johnson&nbsp;has promised to agree with the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/first-stop-brexit-uks-johnson-gets-down-to-work-268636">EU</a> by the end of 2020. He plans to pass the laws needed to finalise the divorce agreement by Jan. 31.

He will also cement his commitment to spend more on&nbsp;Britain's&nbsp;much-loved but struggling <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/queen-elizabeth-to-set-out-pm-johnsons-agenda-on-thursday-268326">National&nbsp;Health&nbsp;Service</a> by prioritising legislation to guarantee funding increases, rising to an extra 33.9 billion pounds per year by 2023-24.

"The NHS is the single greatest institution in this country," he told a reception of&nbsp;health&nbsp;workers late on Wednesday. "We are now putting the biggest investment in the NHS in living memory. We have to keep that investment going."

On Tuesday,&nbsp;Johnson&nbsp;told his top team of ministers that they "ain't seen nothing yet folks", warning them that there was much to do to pay back the trust offered his government in the election on Dec. 12 when he won a majority of 80.

After more than three years of debate over&nbsp;Brexit,&nbsp;Johnson&nbsp;wants to move quickly to try to unite a country riven by disagreements over how, when or whether Britain should leave the EU. Towns, villages and even families have been fractured.

His aides say he is also determined to try to keep the support of those voters in northern and central England, many of whom voted for the governing Conservatives for the first time, by trying to make their lives better.

With a&nbsp;healthy majority, he should be able to fulfil his priority to "get&nbsp;Brexit&nbsp;done" and is expected to announce that the divorce agreement, or Withdrawal Agreement Bill, is brought back to parliament before Christmas and then passed quickly.

He will also offer some insight into how he wants to tackle the domestic concerns highlighted in the election campaign.

Beyond increased funding for the NHS, he is also expected to&nbsp;<a href="https://www.wionews.com/business-economy/uk-business-seeks-brexit-assurances-after-johnson-win-268132">outline measures</a> to strengthen the justice system, improve transport, better protect those people who rent their homes and kickstart talks to restore the government in Northern Ireland.

Brexit and health, Britain's Johnson sets out priorities in Queen's Speech

President Donald Trump on Friday claimed that <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/donald-trump-calls-queen-elizabeth-a-great-great-woman-at-state-banquet-224027">Britain's Queen Elizabeth II </a>had more fun during his state visit to the UK than in the last 25 years.

"I have such a great relationship, and we were laughing and having fun. And her people said she hasn`t had so much fun in 25 years. Then I got criticised for it because they said we were having too much fun," the Hill quoted Trump as saying.

Trump`s comments come two weeks after his first state visit to London to meet the 93-year-old monarch.

During his three-day visit, the president dined with the <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/queen-elizabeth-to-be-evacuated-in-case-of-brexit-unrest-report-194679">Queen</a>, members of the British royal family and other British politicians at Buckingham Palace.

Trump and the queen reaffirmed the importance of the Washington-London relationship during an elaborate state banquet.

"On behalf of all Americans I offer a toast to the eternal friendship of our people, the vitality of our nations and to the long cherished and truly remarkable reign of her majesty, the queen," Trump said in his toast during the event.&nbsp;

He also met Prime Minister Theresa May.

Opposing Trump`s visit, thousands of people hit the streets.&nbsp;

The <a href="https://www.wionews.com/world/trump-baby-blimp-to-fly-in-london-for-us-presidents-visit-223719">`Trump Baby` blimp </a>was flown by the demonstrators outside the Houses of Parliament, according to CNN, alongside a 16-foot robot version of Trump sitting on the toilet and tweeting.

Other activists came dressed as gorillas, with signs reading that they "only eat chlorinated chicken" -- a nod to concerns in Britain that a post-Brexit trade deal with the US would mean a decline in food standards for imported produce.

The queen of the United Kingdom crossed a new milestone by posting her first message on the Instagram social media on Thursday where she published an image of a letter sent by an early pioneer of computers to her great-great-grandfather.

Elizabeth II, who broke one record by being already the longest-serving monarch in UK history after becoming Queen in 1952, shared an image of the letter sent to Prince Albert, the husband of Queen Victoria, on @theRoyalFamily’s Instagram account during a visit to London's Science Museum.

"Today, as I visit the Science Museum I was interested to discover a letter from the Royal Archives, written in 1843 to my great-great-grandfather Prince Albert," Elizabeth wrote to the accounts 4.6 million followers. "Charles Babbage, credited as the world’s first computer pioneer, designed the 'Difference Engine,' of which Prince Albert had the opportunity to see a prototype in July 1843," she added.

The UK head of state added that Babbage told Queen Victoria and Prince Albert all about the "Analytical Engine," which was the starting point for the computer age, using programs that Ada Lovelace, daughter of Lord Byron, had devised.

The queen was visiting the renowned London museum to launch "Top Secret: From Ciphers to Cyber Security," an exhibition that commemorates achievements of the UK's intelligence service headquarters GCHQ, currently based in the western city of Cheltenham.

The monarch's visit commemorated the communications intelligence service's centenary.

"GCHQ has been at the heart of the nation's security for 100 years," Jeremy Fleming, GCHQ director said in a statement that was shared on Twitter.&nbsp;

"It has saved countless lives, given Britain an edge, and solved or harnessed some of the world's hardest technology challenges. It's a privilege to share the exciting story of our people and technology," Fleming added.

The monarch took a tour of the museum and the exhibition and viewed the computer on which Tim Berners-Lee created the World Wide Web, amongst other items from the GCHQ's historic collection.&nbsp;

The show spans communications intelligence from World War I to most recent innovations in cybersecurity in the 21st century.

As well as handwritten documents, declassified files and never before seen objects from the museum archive and the GCHQ's collection, there will be interactive spaces that will enable visitors to become code-breakers and puzzle solvers.

The exhibition opens on July 10 and will run until Feb. 2020, the museum said.
