"I bought a drill, drilled a hole in my head and implanted an electrode in my brain," he stated, as per the Telegram post. The images were also shared by Raduga on his Twitter page, where he said that even though he almost died because of blood loss during the operation, the results opened up "fantastic prospects for future dream control technologies." 
 
"On May 17, 2023, I performed by myself trepanation, electrode implantation, and electrical stimulation of my brain's motor cortex. I needed it to test brain stimulation during lucid dreaming," the man tweeted on July 18, while sharing graphic pictures.

According to the report, Raduga went to the hospital where he got treated for injuries. In the images, the man is seen with multiple bandages and an X-ray is showing electrode inside his head. 
 
Raduga is the founder of the organisation Phase Research Centre and an author. He has carried out research and studies into lucid dreaming, astral projection and out-of-body experiences, as per the organisation's website.

Man hospitalised after drilling dream-controlling chip into his skull

For the second time, China has started drilling a 10,000-metre hole in&nbsp;the ground aiming to discover ultra-deep reserves of natural gas. On Thursday (July 20), China National Petroleum Corp started drilling the Shendi Chuanke 1 Well in Sichuan province which will have a designed depth of 10,520 metres (6.5 miles), reported Xinhua News Agency.

The project will have a similar-sized well compared to that which CNPC started drilling in Xinjiang in May and was called the deepest-ever hole ever drilled by China.&nbsp;

The exploration of Chuanke-1 Well, which falls under the Deep Earth drilling project, is part of a wider infrastructure to “provide an important foundation and support for China’s future scientific research and oil and gas resource development”, reported state news outlet China Electric Power News.

Although the well was earlier described as experimental in nature, the project has now been designed to provide data on the internal structure of Earth and test drilling technologies as the Sichuan is aiming to discover the ultra-deep reserves of natural gas, as per Xinhua.

The southeastern province of Sichuan is famous for spectacular mountain views, spicy food and pandas, and is also home to some of the largest shale gas reserves in China.

The state-owned oil giants of the nation have achieved only little success in tapping their potential mainly because of complicated underground geology and difficult terrain.

The government of China has placed pressure on energy companies in the last few years to enhance the country's fuel security by increasing domestic production amid a series of geopolitical strife, global price volatility and power shortages.

The business tycoon-turned-commander-in-chief has named Exxon boss Rex Tillerson as his secretary of state and Scott Pruitt, a climate change denier, as head of the Environmental Protection Agency. Administration officials fear that while Trump cannot scrap the Paris deal, it could fatally undermine it. Many of the US commitments to reduce carbon emissions are in the Clean Power Act, which Obama unveiled in 2015. The Act limits the amount of carbon pollution power plants can emit. Obama described the legislation at the time as "the single most important step that America has ever made in the fight against global climate change." The measures however have come under fierce legal challenge, including from Pruitt in his role as attorney general of Oklahoma, an oil state. Sources familiar with Trump's transition planning say the new administration is weighing options like simply shutting down the government's legal defense of the act, or scrapping plans to appeal a Supreme Court ruling that froze portions of the program. In practical terms that would mean abandoning the plan and reneging on international commitments. According to a recent Pew poll 48 per cent of Americans believe climate change is caused by humans. Trump once wrote, falsely, that global warming was a Chinese conspiracy to weaken the United States. "The concept of global warming" was "created by and for the Chinese in order to make US manufacturing non-competitive," Trump wrote on Twitter in 2012. (AFP)
