A significant development has emerged in the investigation into the November 2025 Red Fort blast in Delhi. A United Nations Security Council sanctions monitoring report has attributed the deadly attack to Al-Qaeda in the Indian Subcontinent (AQIS).

The blast, which involved a vehicle-borne improvised explosive device, killed 11 people, injured several others and caused significant property damage. The development comes after the National Investigation Agency filed a charge sheet naming several accused allegedly linked to AQIS-affiliated Ansar Ghazwat-ul-Hind.

Investigators have identified Omar Un Nabi, a former assistant professor at Al-Falah University in Faridabad who was killed in the explosion, as the alleged principal perpetrator.

The UN monitoring report has also raised concerns over AQIS activities in Afghanistan, the possibility of the group establishing cells in Bangladesh and its reported cooperation with the Taliban. The assessment further highlights concerns surrounding terrorist groups' interest in chemical and biological weapons, as well as the growing use of cryptocurrency for fundraising and financial operations.

According to NIA, the Hyundai i20 car involved in the attack in Delhi’s busy street last week was registered in Amir’s name. He was nabbed in Delhi after the case was formally handed over to the agency from the Delhi Police.The investigation revealed that Amir, who hails from Samboora, Pampore in Jammu and Kashmir, planned the Delhi attack with Umar, the driver of the car that exploded near the iconic Red Fort. The NIA said that Amir allegedly came to Delhi to help buy the car, adding that it was later used as a vehicle-borne IED to cause the deadly blast. The NIA also seized another car belonging to Nabi, which is being checked for evidence.The NIA is working with police from Delhi, Kashmir, Jammu and Kashmir, UP and other agencies. The agency said it is working on multiple leads to reveal the full conspiracy behind the bombing and identify others involved in the terror activities.Meanwhile, the 32nd Northern Zonal Council meeting started in Faridabad on Monday. The meeting is led by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and leaders from eight states and Union Territories to honour those affected in the November 10 Delhi car blast.
