Similarly, 12 teams have been&nbsp;deployed in Andhra Pradesh and six in West Bengal. The rest of the teams, that comprise about 50 personnel each, have been kept on standby in these states.

Pradhan said a Deputy Inspector General (DIG) and a commandant-rank officer have also been tasked to monitor the activities of the rescue and relief teams from the ground in Odisha's capital Bhubaneswar and Puri.

The teams have been equipped with additional boats, satellite phones, medical equipment, medicines, tree cutters, pickup and common mobility vehicles, and other gadgets, he said.

Earlier in the day, Indian aviation regulator DGCA said no flights will depart or arrive at Kolkata airport from 3 pm Friday to 8 am Saturday in view of the cyclonic storm 'Fani', which slammed into the Odisha coast in the morning.

On Thursday, the regulator had said there would be no flights to and from Kolkata airport between 9.30 pm Friday and 6 pm Saturday.

Therefore, on Friday afternoon, Vistara airline reinstated a few airlines to and from Kolkata airport after receiving the revised DGCA advisory.

Sanjiv Kapoor, the chief strategy and commercial officer of Vistara, said on Twitter, "Lots of disruption today due to Cyclone Fani and closure of Bhubaneswar and Kolkata airports. And then a flash storm in Delhi that resulted in diversions. Call centre also swamped. Tough day for passengers and staff alike, thanks for your patience and understanding".&nbsp;

Vistara has around 4 per cent of domestic passenger market share.&nbsp;

On Friday, IndiGo announced on Twitter that due to cyclone Fani, all flights to and from Kolkata have been cancelled for Saturday till 6 pm.

Andhra Pradesh Weather Forecasting and Early Warning Research Centre (AWARE) a division of RTGS predicted that cyclone Fani intensified as super cyclone at 5.30 pm on Thursday and is likely to make landfall near Puri in Odisha at 11 am today.

Cyclone Fani is expected to cause heavy downpour in the coastal mandals of north Srikakulam and Vijayanagaram. The cyclone may hit with a wind speed of 150-180 kmph.

Due to the severity of the cyclone and considering that northern part of Srikakulam district is expected to receive heavy rainfall with high speed, it was advised the vehicle movement to be stopped during the time of landfall.

In view of very severe cyclonic storm Fani scheduled to landfall near Puri on May 3, Odisha government has decided to disconnect the power supply when the wind speed reaches 50 kilometres per hour as a precautionary measure for the safety of people and equipment.

The state government said that once the wind speed reduces, the power supply shall be restored in a phased manner after the necessary checking of electrical installations.

"The eye of the storm is likely to be weakened when it enters West Bengal. The wind speed will be around 100 kmph to 110 kmph," an official of the meteorological department said.

Meanwhile, Airports Authority of India said no flight to and from Kolkata airport will be allowed to fly from 3pm today till 8am on Saturday. In a series of tweets, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said Friday that all airlines must immediately respond to the concerns of passengers affected by Cyclone Fani.

"We are ready to offer help needed for the stranded due to cyclonic storm Fani. The control room, helplines are manned all times to assist affected passengers. All Airlines must immediately respond to the concerns of passengers," he tweeted.

In West Bengal, NDRF team have been deployed at Digha. The disaster relief team have evacuated 132 people, including 52 children, from Dattapur and Tajpur.

In a series of tweets, Civil Aviation Minister Suresh Prabhu said Friday that all airlines must immediately respond to the concerns of passengers affected by Cyclone Fani. "We are ready to offer help needed for the stranded due to cyclonic storm Fani. The control room, helplines are manned all times to assist affected passengers. All Airlines must immediately respond to the concerns of passengers," he tweeted. In West Bengal, NDRF team have been deployed at Digha. The disaster relief team have evacuated 132 people, including 52 children, from Dattapur and Tajpur.
