Singer, songwriter, satirist and novelist Kinky Friedman, who led the alt-country band Texas Jewboys, toured with Bob Dylan, sang with Willie Nelson, and dabbled in politics with campaigns for Texas governor and other statewide offices, has died.

Friedman, 79, died Thursday at his family’s Texas ranch near San Antonio, close friend Kent Perkins told The Associated Press. Friedman had suffered from Parkinson’s disease for several years, Perkins said.

“He died peacefully. He smoked a cigar, went to bed and never woke up,” said Perkins, who was working as an actor when he met Friedman at a party 50 years ago when both were signed to Columbia records and movie contracts.

“We were the only two people with tuxedos and cowboys hats. Two Texans gravitating toward each other,” Perkins said. “He was the last free person on earth ... He had an irreverence about him. He was a fearless writer.”

In the 1970s, his satirical country band Kinky Friedman and the Texas Jewboys wrote songs with titles such as “They Ain’t Makin’ Jews Like Jesus Anymore” and “Get Your Biscuits in the Oven and Your Buns in Bed.” Friedman joined part of Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue tour in 1976.

By the 1980s, Friedman was writing crime novels that often included a version of himself, and he wrote a column for Texas Monthly magazine in the 2000s.

Friedman’s run at politics brought his brand of irreverence to the serious world of public policy. In 2006, Friedman ran for governor as an independent in a five-way race that included incumbent Republican Rick Perry. Friedman launched his campaign against the backdrop of the Alamo.

“We’re gypsies on a pirate ship, and we’re setting sail for the Governor’s Mansion,” Friedman said at the campaign launch. “I’m calling for the unconditional surrender of Rick Perry.” 
Some saw the campaign as another Friedman joke, but he insisted it was serious. His platform called for legalizing medical marijuana, boosting public education spending through casino gambling and supported same-sex marriage. Campaign slogans included “How Hard Could It Be?” and “He ain’t Kinky, he’s my Governor.”

“Humor is what I use to attack the windmills of politics as usual,” Friedman said.

Perry won re-election in 2006, and Friedman finished last. He did not give up politics, however, and unsuccessfully ran for state agriculture commissioner as a Democrat in 2010 and 2014.

Born in Chicago, Richard Samet Friedman grew up in Texas. The family’s Echo Hill ranch where Friedman died ran a camp for children of parents killed serving in the military.

Funeral services were pending, Perkins said.

Country music singer Jason Aldean had to leave his performance mid-way through a concert because of heat exhaustion. He was performing in Connecticut when this episode happened to him. A video of him leaving the stage in a not-so-great condition has now gone viral.&nbsp;

He was in the middle of performing “Crazy Town” on July 15.&nbsp;

After he left the performance mid-way, a statement from the venue reassured fans that they are working on rescheduling the show and that Aldean suffered from heat stroke during the show.&nbsp;

Aldean posted a video the following day, telling fans he was feeling better after several IVs and that he planned to continue his tour that night in Saratoga Springs, New York. In the video, he was heard saying, “Man, it was hot, I was playing golf all day yesterday, and then got to the show and just, I think it was a combination of dehydration and just heat exhaustion.”

&nbsp;American country music singer Tyler Rich recently opened up about the harrowing experience of coming across a corpse while out on a run. 
 
According to Fox News, the 34-year-old country singer took to Twitter on Friday (local time) to discuss how his 2020 ended with the shock of finding a corpse in a wooded area. In a statement, Rich said he was 2.5 miles into his run at Chicopee State Park in Massachusetts when he "ran across a dam" and was "looking for a way to cut up the hill back to the path." 
 
"I then saw what I thought was a young homeless man sleeping. He was on his stomach and had a bag tied around his foot and was faced down. ... After running around him, I felt bad for him, he was sleeping facedown and just looked like he was in a bad place," Rich wrote.

The singer said he then turned around to check on the man and realised he wasn`t breathing."As I get around to the front of him, all I see is a lifeless face covered in blood. Everywhere. Looked like maybe shot, or blunt force. At this moment I freak out and sprint up the steep hill to try and find anyone with a phone to call the police," he said. 
 
As reported by Fox News, Rich went on to say he called the cops. After arriving at the scene, authorities discovered a gun in one of the deceased man`s hands, he revealed. Rich said, "It potentially could have been a suicide. Not that there is any type of thing that could help me cope with finding him like this." 
 
Rich went on to call the 24 hours afterwards "rough. Not the way I planned on closing out 2020. This will be an image &amp; moment I`ll never forget. I need to shoutout first responders &amp; our military that look death in the eye every day, and are able to continue to live their everyday lives," he tweeted. 
 
On Saturday (local time), the country star went on to reveal that he`s since spoken to the mother of the victim and was torn over the similarities he had with him."I don`t think anyone in the area could have found him that understood him quite like me. II really feel this was meant to be. I wish I got to meet him, have a beer with him, and talk about what was hurting him so much. I`m broken over this and I didn`t even know him," Rich wrote.

After a nearly 25-year country music career, singer LeAnn Rimes is finding new ways to share her voice - through a podcast and her first chant record.

The Grammy Award winner, 38, meditates regularly and says she wanted to make chanting more accessible to her fans to relieve the pandemic blues. The stress caused Rimes’ psoriasis to flare up, which she revealed through a picture of her skin outbreak in October to encourage people to shed their hang-ups.

“Chanting really is, for me, about using my own vibration and my own voice for my own healing,” she said. The idea for the soundtrack, which will be released on Nov. 20, came to her during meditation and on stage.

“I lead singalongs all the time and I thought I would really love to mix the chanting with my music and be able to teach it,” she said.

With time on her hands, the singer has also turned her passion for candles into a business, with the launch of La Fréquence candles, and is extending her wellness blog, Soul of EverLe, into a “Wholly Human” podcast. The show will debut on iHeartRadio on Nov. 30.

Rimes, whose debut album “Blue” in 1996 reached No. 1 on the Top Country Albums chart, will celebrate her 25th anniversary in the industry in 2021.

“It’s pretty amazing to have that kind of longevity in a business that is incredibly fickle,” she said. “So, I’m very grateful.”
