<p>Civic and railway authorities in Mumbai on Saturday began working on alternate arrangements for commuters using CSMT station.</p>

<p>Meanwhile, a 40-metre stretch of the road median beneath the collapsed FOB has been removed so that people can cross DN Road and enter CSMT railway station.</p>

<p>All the injured have been rushed to nearby hospitals, a disaster management cell official said.</p>

<p>An eywitness said when the bridge collapsed, there was a red light at the nearby signal, and that is why the death toll was not more.</p>

<p>Another eyewitness said the overbridge was being used despite repairs being carried out this morning.</p>

<p>The incident took place around 7.30 pm when a major portion of the bridge caved in, the official said.</p>

<p>Some motorists who were passing beneath the bridge when it came down, were among those injured, he added.</p>

<p>"Fire brigade personnel reached the spot immediately and rescue work is in full swing. We have appealed the motorists to avoid the D N road to JJ flyover section," he said.</p>

<p>On Thursday, the news agency ANI quoted the Ministry of Railways as saying the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation was responsible for the foot overbridge at CST. "However, we're extending all our support&nbsp;to the victims. Railway doctors and personnel are cooperating with BMC in relief and rescue operations," the Ministry of Railways added.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Maharastra minister Vinod Tawde, who visited the accident site, said "a slab of the bridge had collapsed".&nbsp;He added that the "bridge wasn't in a bad condition". And that "it required minor repairs for which work was underway".&nbsp;</p>

<p>"Why was it not closed until the work was completed? It'll also be probed," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis said he had ordered a "high-level inquiry" into the collapse.</p>

<p>"A structural audit of the bridge had earlier been done and it was found to be fit. Even after that if such incident happened, it raises question on the audit. Inquiry will be done. Strictest action will be taken," he said.&nbsp;</p>

<p>Tawde meanwhile said an enquiry into the collapse would be conducted by the Railways and the BMC.&nbsp;</p>

This global initiative is organised by World Wide Fund for Nature India, during which reports say millions of supporters from 187 countries have participated. The campaign includes taking steps like giving up single-use plastics, giving up fossil fuels, giving up lonely car rides for your employees, give up e-waste among others. This year WWF-India launched an initiative "Give Up to Give Back" to inspire individuals to make little changes in their habits and lifestyle to that burden environment.
