<p>The aircraft, as per media reports, was carrying 363 passengers and nine cabin crew members, as well as two pilots on board.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to flight tracking website Flightradar24 the Boeing 787 Dreamliner was circling off the east coast of Malaysia before flying towards Changi Airport.</p>

<p>A 30-year-old systems analyst, who did not want to be named, told The Straits Times that passengers were informed at about 5:05 that the aircraft was experiencing “minor issues”.&nbsp;</p>

<p>When the fighter jets arrived people were “passing phones to those seated by the windows to take photos,” adding that he did not sense much alarm among those on board.</p>

<p>The details for Terminal 5 were revealed earlier this year with officials promising that it will be much more than a piece of transport infrastructure but rather a social extension of Singapore itself. The construction is set to begin in 2024 and reportedly it will be open by 2035 for passengers.&nbsp;</p>

<p>“Changi airport T5 is integral to the nation's long-term development plans for aviation,” said the Singapore PM, the local media reported. Reports have indicated that T5 is going to be located within the 1,080-hectare Changi East development and built in two phases. The terminal will also be constructed keeping in mind the lessons from the Covid-19 pandemic, because of which the work of building the terminal also stopped for 2 years.&nbsp;</p>

He added, “Passenger traffic has already exceeded half of pre-Covid-19 levels.” The PM also went on to point out how air travel will keep growing because of the “fast-expanding middle class in our region” which is why they decided to go ahead with the T5 construction.&nbsp;</p>

<p>According to the officials, the T5 will also account for the challenges faced during the pandemic, in line with which the terminal has been designed to scale up or down and operate as smaller sub-terminals. This would allow authorities to reduce the transmission of diseases by isolating passengers from different flights. The new terminal is also set to feature contactless systems at passenger touchpoints as well as enhanced ventilation systems.</p>

<p>Singapore&nbsp;fully reopened its borders to all vaccinated visitors Friday after a two-year coronavirus closure, with arrivals saying it felt "wonderful" to travel again without onerous restrictions.</p>

<p>"(They) asked me what my political views were and if I have been involved with protests in other countries," he said, adding that he was told to stay away from Sentosa Island and the Shangri-La, two areas that are designated 'special event areas' for the summit.</p>

<p>"They said, 'It's the Trump-Kim summit, you've come at a very sensitive time."</p>

<p>The Immigration and Checkpoints Authority of Singapore (ICA) said Lee Howard Ho Wun arrived at Changi Airport at about 3.30 a.m on June 8 and was interviewed about 45 minutes later. After completing the interview he was allowed entry into Singapore.</p>

<p>"As part of the immigration clearance process, travellers to Singapore may be subject to additional interviews and/or screening," the ICA said in a statement late on Friday.</p>

Flight from Pyongyang lands in Singapore ahead of North Korean leader's arrival

<p>In an attempt to digitise air travel,&nbsp;Indian airports will soon have high-tech face recognition systems which will put an end to waiting&nbsp;in lines for hours to get through screening and security process.</p>

<p>The Indian Ministry of Civil Aviation is planning to install facial-recognition systems at airports making the entire security process faster and passenger flow smoother.</p>

<p>Though few Indian airports like Bengaluru and Hyderabad are already working on the high-tech design, the aviation ministry is planning to make this a standard practice across all airports in India.&nbsp;</p>

<p>This high tech system is expected to be rolled out by January.</p>

<p>Travellers hailed the announcement. The flight departed from Changi airport or Milan at 2.05 a.m today but about two hours into the flight, the pilot announced that there was a problem in the engine and the flight had to turn back to Singapore.<br />

The SIA said in a statement that Flight SQ368 was en route from Singapore to Milan when an &quot;engine oil warning message&quot; forced it to turn back.<br />

&quot;The aircraft&#39;s right engine caught fire after the aircraft touched down at Changi airport at about 6:50 am,&quot; the statement said.<br />

&quot;The fire was put out by airport emergency services and the 222 passengers and 19 crew on board were unharmed. Passengers disembarked through stairs and were transported to the terminal building by bus,&quot; it said.<br />
