‘Modi @20: Dreams Meet Delivery’ book, which looks into the 20 years of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's model of governance at the Centre and in Gujarat—when he was the chief minister—was launched on Wednesday in New Delhi.

The book was launched by India’s Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu. He was accompanied by Union Home Minister Amit Shah and External Affairs Minister Dr S Jaishankar.

“The book presents different facets of the distinct thought process, the pioneering, pro-active approach and the quintessential, transformational leadership style that Narendra (bhai) Modi has come to be so closely identified with,” Naidu said at the ceremony.

He said the book encompasses the experiential journey of Modi since he left his house at the tender age of 17 and set out on a mission of knowing himself, his country and finally define the mission of transforming India.

“Modi ji’s vision, his dreams and mission India have been shaped by his extensive travels and insightful, experiential journey. This is the fundamental differentiator that makes Modi unique in several ways,” Naidu said.

The vice president said that despite demonetisation, Modi was able to win polls due to his communication skills as he communicated with the people, and they had trust&nbsp;in him.

At the event, Amit Shah called the PM an efficient leader. He said despite Modi's lack of experience, the latter was made the CM of an earthquake-prone state, which he ran efficiently and won several re-elections.

"PM Modi didn't even have experience in running panchayat when he was made a CM to run an earthquake-marred state. Despite that, he won continuously and ran the state quite efficiently," Shah was quoted as saying by ANI.

Jaishankar also emphasised that in his eight years of governance, PM Modi led the debate on terrorism worldwide.

"Eight years of Modi govt led to the global debate on terrorism. He has practised development-focused diplomacy, focused on border infra development to meet security challenges; takes interest in trade, &amp; addressed all our embassies to reach $400 bn exports," he said.

‘Modi@20: Dreams Meet Delivery’: A book on PM Modi’s model of governance launched in Delhi

Over the years, Sri Lanka cricket have produced several big names in world cricket. Back when the ODI World Cup was a new concept and saw the dominance of big teams such as West Indies and Australia, Sri Lanka became the third Asian team, second in a row, to lift the 50-over world championship in 1996.&nbsp;

During the 1996 World Cup, the Arjuna Ranatunga-led Islanders weren't regarded as one of the strongest contenders. In fact, they had a tough ride all the way to the final, with teams such as Australia and Windies not agreeing to go to the Island nation for their respective WC fixtures. At that time, teams were reluctant to tour SL due to a massive bomb blast that ripped through the capital Colombo Jan. 31 1996, claiming the lives of at least 80 people and injuring around 1,400.

In addition, SL locked horns with tournament-favourites India in the semi-finals before beating them in a controversial manner prior to their historic triumph over Australia in the summit clash.

Recalling the iconic 1996 WC triumph, former SL great and and ex-ICC match referee Roshan Mahanama told WION in an exclusive interaction -- on the sidelines of the launch of my book “My Innings - Retired Hurt to the Best View of the Game --&nbsp;"I think I was part of both phases in SL cricket (in transition and when they became a lethal unit). We used to go to work, approach organisations to help us. In mid-90s, the change started. I don't think we got paid quite well until we won the WC. It wasn't about money but it was the passion for the game. In that 1996 WC, we were one of the experienced teams but they never gave us due credit. That helped us to be relaxed as we were not under any pressure. That was the turnaround in SL cricket. The guys who were part of that era contributed immensely in SL getting the Test status."

He added, "You rightly said that it was a close-knit team. Arjuna was the father figure. That doesn't mean we agreed to everything that he said. We gelled well maybe due to our background. We knew one another and had played each other from school days. To build that team spirit was quite easy. Some key learnings was teamwork, we played to our strength and not to the strength of the opposition. Back then, Imran Khan had told us to bat first if we win the toss, however, we backed our strength to chase (in the 1996 finale) and everything is now history. And, the third one is that when somebody was called upon to do something for the team, no one said 'it is not my duty' and raised their hand up. Not only the 14 guys who were selected in the squad, even the support staff played their part."

To an extend, you can say that everything has been politicised. I still feel there is lots that need to be done. We do not have authority. We are there only to advise the minister and people of the cricket board but the final say is in their hands. I feel everyone has to work together. In SL, we need to protect the game."

"And finally, here she is. Today, on World Mental Health Day I'd like to proudly (and shakily) introduce you to my first book, I've Never Been (Un)Happier - an account of my life with depression," said Shaheen in her post on Instagram where she has also shared the first look of her debut novel.

The novel is titled as 'Never Been (Un)Happier' centers around her own struggles of depression. The book is yet to release formally but has been released on the cyber platform.

“Delhi doesn’t really see too many youngsters aspiring to become authors and being socially aware of the every-day happenings around the world,” noted Lok Sabha member Dushyant Chautala while speaking at the launch. “Simar is such a welcome change. We need more such young girls to think big and think educated.”

In her message, former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dixit too reiterated a similar sentiment. “You write about things that are relevant today and tackle the issues that affect the youth as well as the nation,” she said, adding “you (Simar) are a change leader and I hope you can inspire other youngsters with your writing.”

The event was graced an esteemed panel that included Senior Editor, Sonal Kalra, Educationist Dr Jayshree Periwal, District Magistrate of Delhi Dr Pooja Joshi, Editor of Cosmopolitan India Nandini Bhalla, Government Director of ONGC Videsh Ltd Sunjay Sudhir, Founder–President, Public Diplomacy Forum Ratan Kaul among others.
