The Jodhpur bench of the Rajasthan High Court on Monday issued fresh notices to film stars Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam Kothari on an appeal by the state government, challenging their acquittal by a trial court in a case of hunting two black bucks in 1998. 
 
Notice was also issued to local Dushyant Singh who accompanied the actors when the poaching took place in Kankani village near Jodhpur in October 1998. 
 
Bollywood actor Salman Khan is the sole accused who was convicted in the case. The trial court had sentenced him to five years in jail on April 5 last year, while acquitting the five other co-accused. Khan is presently out on bail. 
 
A single judge bench of justice Manoj Kumar Garg issued notices to the respondents seeking their reply within eight weeks. 
 
Earlier, the high court had on March 11 issued notices to the five respondents on the state government's appeal challenging their acquittal in the case. 
"Of these, notices to Saif and Sonali could not be served. Considering this, the court issued fresh notices to them seeking reply in 8 weeks," said government counsel Mahipal Bishnoi. 
 
After the five files their replies, the state's appeal would be sent back to the session court for further hearing as the first appeal to a magisterial court judgement lies in the sessions court, explained Bishnoi. 
 
The state had come to the high court after the sessions court had taken objections to the late filing of the appeal by the state government, he said.&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp; 
Salman Khan has already challenged his conviction before the sessions court, which is presently hearing the defence arguments in his appeal.&nbsp;

In October 1998, a total of three cases in connection with poaching and one under the Arms Act were registered against Salman. The 52-year-old actor allegedly shot two blackbucks in Bhagoda ki Dhani in Kankani village near Jodhpur during the shooting of 'Hum Saath Saath Hain'.

Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and Neelam were also present in the vehicle Salman allegedly used for hunting the endangered species protected under Schedule 1 of the Indian Wildlife Act.

Salman was charged under Section 51 of the Wildlife (Protection) Act and others under Section 51 read with Section 149 (unlawful assembly) of the Indian Penal Code.&nbsp;

Blackbuck poaching case: Jodhpur High Court issues notice to Saif Ali Khan, Sonali Bendre, Tabu and others

The shooting of Race 3 was stalled on Tuesday by the Mumbai police and Salman Khan was escorted back home from Film City, Mumbai by the cops after the actor received death threats from a gangster from the Bishnoi community that worships black bucks.&nbsp; 
 
The threats were made last week by gangster Lawrence Bishnoi when the actor was in Jodhpur for the hearing of the Black Buck case. Following the threat, the actor was taken to Jodhpur court amid heavy security.&nbsp; 
The blackbuck case, in which Salman is charged with poaching the animal, has been going on in Jodhpur for the last 10 years. 
 
According to media reports, the police arrived at the Race 3 set in Film City and told Salman and producer Ramesh Taurani that the shoot needs to be stopped immediately and the actor needs to head home as soon as possible. Salman was then escorted home by six cops and asked to maintain a low profile for a few days.

A senior police officer, while speaking to Mumbai Mirror said, &quot;A senior police officer said, &ldquo;We are taking Bishnoi&rsquo;s threat seriously but we have assured Salman that he will receive maximum police protection. We are also investigating the motive behind Bishnoi&rsquo;s threat to Salman.&rdquo; 
 
Confirming the threats to Salman, his father Salim Khan said, &quot; While I don&rsquo;t know the exact details about when he left the sets, I do know that there were some threats. But Salman has a good team of security personnel. This is not the first time that he is getting such threats. In this industry, people keep getting such threats a lot.&rdquo; 
 
Lawrence Bishoi has been charged in over 20 cases of attempt to murder, carjacking, extortion, snatching and under the Arms Act in Punjab-Haryana belt.
