The Urdu Ramayana was originally composed by Maulvi Badshah Hussain Rana Lakhnavi in 1935 for a competition at Banaras Hindu University, where it won a gold medal. The Maharaja of Bikaner later hosted a ceremony to celebrate this achievement.

Despite a jam-packed agenda leading up to the Lok Sabha elections, the Law Minister of India, Arjun Ram Meghwal, spared some moment&nbsp;to speak to WION, right after he&nbsp;finished his morning breakfast at his residence in Bikaner in the northern Indian state of Rajasthan.&nbsp;

The conversation quickly kicked off with the 70-year-old minister expressing absolute confidence in his victory as the BJP has fielded a leader, belonging to the Dalit community, from the Lok Sabha constituency of Bikaner.&nbsp;

"BJP is winning by a big margin from this constituency. If you check the ground mood, you will know that the contest is one-sided," the minister said adding, "I am 100 percent confident that I will win."

When asked about the issues that would influence the voting decisions of the people of Bikaner, the minister said that development and good governance were the sole concerns guiding their choices.

Meghwal was the BJP’s Chief Whip in the lower house of the Indian Parliament (Lok Sabha) in 2015. In May 2023, Meghwal replaced Kiren Rijiju and took charge as the Union Minister for Law and Justice.&nbsp;

Notably, Meghwal is pitched against Govind Ram Meghwal from Congress. Both are&nbsp;again face-to-face after a long gap of 15 years.&nbsp;

Haldiram later had three sons, Moolchand, Satyanarayan, and Rameshwarlal. These three sons, along with their sister Saraswati Devi, would be the ones to carry on the family legacy. &nbsp;

Growth and diversification&nbsp;

Haldiram's was not content with staying local. In the 1950s, Ganga Bishan Agarwal, accompanied by his sons Satyanarayan and Rameshwarlal, embarked on a journey that led them to the bustling city of Kolkata. It was there that they created the renowned brand "Haldiram Bhujiawala." Shiv Kishan, the eldest grandson of Haldiram, joined them in this venture.&nbsp;

While the younger sons managed the original Bikaner shop, the business in Kolkata experienced meteoric growth. They expanded beyond the traditional Bhujia, venturing into uncharted territories in the snack industry. This marked a pivotal chapter in Haldiram's journey - a phase of growth and diversification.&nbsp;

The period from the 1960s to the 1990s was marked by this rapid growth and transformation. Ganga Bishan Agarwal eventually returned to Bikaner, passing on the reins to his sons, Rameshwarlal and Satyanarayan. However, Satyanarayan chose to embark on his own entrepreneurial journey, creating "Haldiram &amp; Sons." While his efforts were commendable, he could not replicate the unprecedented success of his father.&nbsp;

The 1980s marked another significant milestone when Shiv Kishan Agarwal and his sister Saraswati ventured into Maharashtra, particularly Nagpur. There, they achieved remarkable success and expanded the reach of the brand.&nbsp;

Meanwhile, in 1984, Manoharlal and Madhusudan, Moolchand's youngest sons, travelled to New Delhi, the capital city of India, and established their business there. Their move catapulted the brand to national and international recognition, paving the way for Haldiram's to become a global phenomenon.&nbsp;

The Agarwal family's journey was marked by complex dynamics and competition, culminating in the separation of the businesses into independent entities. The businesses now operate as distinct entities, each with its unique identity. The Delhi unit, under Manoharlal and Madhusudan Agarwal, emerged as the revenue leader, generating close to 5,000 crore rupees ($600 million). The Nagpur entity, under Shiv Kishan Agarwal, followed closely with 4,000 crore rupees ($480 million), while Bikaner, led by Shiv Ratan Agarwal, amassed around 1,600 crore rupees ($192 million).&nbsp;

With the recent IPO of Bikaji, the three brothers are looking to merge their businesses and embark on their own initial public offering within the next year and a half. &nbsp;

<h2>Indian PM’s visit to Bikaner&nbsp;</h2>

The Indian PM laid the foundation stones of development projects of over Rs 24,300 crore, earlier on Saturday. This included a significant segment of the Bharat Mala Project, a new green expressway connecting the Indian city of Amritsar in Punjab to Jamnagar in Gujarat.&nbsp;

The 1,316-kilometre highway worth Rs. 20,000 crore&nbsp;will pass through the Indian states of Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Gujarat. “Bikaner, Rajasthan will get the privilege of inauguration and foundation stone laying of many projects today. These include the Amritsar-Jamnagar Greenfield Expressway,” said PM Modi&nbsp;on Twitter ahead of his visit.

He added, “With this, where the lives of lakhs of people of the four states will be easier, the development will also get a new boost.”

“I am happy that the road infrastructure that’s being built in Rajasthan will contribute towards the progress and development of the state,” said Union Roads and Transport Minister, Nitin Gadkari, on Saturday.&nbsp; 
 
PM Modi’s visit to the Rajasthan city was also expected to sway the votes in the upcoming elections to be contested for 35 Vidhan Sabha seats.

“The enthusiasm of the people is telling that not only the temperature of the weather has risen in Rajasthan, but the temperature of the people has also risen against the Congress government,” said PM Modi while addressing the crowd in Bikaner, as quoted by news agency ANI.

He added, “When the temperature of the public rises, it does not take time for the heat of power to subside and the power to change.”

The Indian PM was in the midst of a two-day visit covering four states – Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Telangana, and Rajasthan. Aside from UP, the other three states will hold elections later this year.&nbsp;

Pakistan nationals in Rajasthan's Bikaner have been asked to leave the city within 48 hours, the District Magistrate said in an order on Monday.

Following a terror attack in <a href="http://www.wionews.com/india-news/two-jem-terrorists-shot-dead-in-pulwama-encounter-four-soldiers-killed-198080">Jammu and Kashmir's Pulwama</a> on February 14, in which more than 40 CRPF personnel were killed, the Bikaner administration has issued a list of orders under section 144 of CrPC.

The orders, effective immediately, prohibit hotels and lodges of the district from allowing Pakistan citizens to check-in.

Indian citizens have been asked not to employ any Pakistan citizens and not have any direct or indirect business relationship with the neighbouring country.

"In the matter of receiving spoof calls from Pakistan, no citizen through any medium of telecommunication will exchange any kind of army or sensitive information to unknown persons. Any person of Bikaner district will not use sim cards registered in Pakistan," according to the order.

The order is applicable for two months, but would not be applicable to Pakistan citizens who have registered with the foreigners' registration officer, the district administration said.

On Friday, India withdrew the Most Favoured Nation status accorded to Pakistan -- a day after the Pulwama terror attack.

Home Minister Rajnath Singh celebrated Dussehra with BSF jawans and performed 'shastra puja' in the&nbsp;forward post along the highly sensitive Indo-Pak border in Bikaner, Rajasthan on Friday.

This was for the first time that a senior Union minister conducted the 'shastra puja' or worship of weapons on the occasion of Vijaya Dashami along India's border with Pakistan.

The home minister arrived at the frontier headquarters of the Border Security Force (BSF) in Bikaner, Rajasthan last evening.

'Shastra puja' is part of the Dussehra festival which is celebrated to mark the victory of Lord Ram over the demon king Ravana.

Addressing the BSF personnel, the home minister praised the multi-dimensional role of the BSF in guarding the Indo-Pak and Indo-Bangladesh borders, maintaining law and order in internal disturbances and tackling the Left Wing Extremism.

Referring to the regular firing from across the border in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh said Pakistan, despite being a neighbour, never exercised good neighbourly behaviour and instead sponsoring terrorism.

The home minister said that recently launched 'smart fence' pilot project, which entails deploying laser-activated fences and technology-enabled barriers to plug vulnerable gaps along borders, will help the border guarding forces in maintaining peace in forward areas.

The project was launched along Indo-Pak border in Jammu and Kashmir while it will be implemented along the Indo-Bangla border in Dhubri, Assam, next month, Singh said.

During the two-day visit, the home minister interacted with the family members of the BSF personnel and attended a feast with the jawans, another official said.

Singh also visited the family of a BSF jawan, who is currently posted in Jammu and Kashmir, and enquired about their wellbeing.

Later, the home minister reviewed the situation on the border and assessed the progress in various infrastructure projects.

The 3,323-km-long Indo-Pak border is considered to be highly sensitive.

Even though the border in Rajasthan is peaceful, the border guarding forces of the two countries often engaged in massive firing in Jammu and Kashmir, leading to loss of human lives and properties.

But that her family members spotted Saif in their locality, and attacked him.&nbsp;

They then dumped his body on the outskirts of town.&nbsp;

Saif was taken to hospital after people informed police.&nbsp;

But, the reports said, Saif died from his injuries in hospital.&nbsp;

"Can't call it a 'love-jihad' case... In this age, when you study together, attraction can happen and then you don't see religion or community," ANI reported Superintendent of Police, Sawai Singh Godara, as saying.&nbsp;

Rajasthan: Woman's family kills her friend before her arranged marriage

A team of police intelligence arrested Shahid Hussain Jilani (54) Wednesday night from Pokaran of Jaisalmer district, Pokaran Deputy Superintendent of Police Nanak Singh said.

He said that Jilani was arrested after he could not give a satisfactory answer in preliminary interrogation. He will be interrogated by joint investigation agencies.

In another action, a Pakistani national was arrested by a team of BSF in Bikaner district on Thursday.

The BSF team has arrested Manjur Ahmed (50) from Bandli check post in Khajuwala town, Bikaner Superintendent of Police Swai Singh Godara said.

He said that the accused in preliminary interrogation revealed that he was a resident of Bahawalpur of Pakistan. He was later handed over to Khajuwala police.

The accused will now be interrogated by joint interrogation agencies, the police said.&nbsp;
